I first used Merry Maid in 2009 when we bought our bungalow which had been badly neglected. I think it speaks for itself that we are still using them on a regular basis 14 years later!
Of course everything hasn't always been plain sailing during that time but any concerns I have had have been listened to and rectified.
Occasionally it has been necessary to cancel or change a date of my regular clean and this has always been accommodated to the best of their rota.
I would (and have) recommended MM to friends and neighbours over the years and hope to continue to use them for many more.

Just an update for you all.

Having given far more than the three day minimum time for cancelations I am still waiting for my £50 deposit on the second job.

So I can only assume that the gentleman who runs this ineffective business is also in the habit of keeping money that does not belong to him.

Very disappointed with the recent deep clean we had from Merry Maids. It was not a deep clean, cobwebs still hanging, finger marks round socket and much more. Paid extra for an Oven Clean well that was a joke, told couldn’t clean the door, could get the fat off as they didn’t have the right equipment. When I called they said they would go back and sort, another joke yes they turn up was there for 15 mins and we were told unable to sort out the issues. I have tried to call office and they ignore my calls, however they were very quick to take money from our account. I wish I had read these reviews before hand. Would not recommend one very disappointed customer.

Great service specification on the promotional/ contract leaflet. They price for the job, rather than the amount of time on site; we had high expectations given how the manager described their approach when they paid a site visit.

First clean was quite thorough; two people stayed for 2.5 hours approximately so five hours to clean a four bed house. That seemed reasonable.

Next clean was shorter and less thorough, areas missed. Gave them the benefit of the doubt ...

Third clean - we were significantly short-changed on the time they spent on site and many more areas were missed altogether. The maids also chatted away incessantly which was very noisy and distracting with us both working from home.

We raised the poor standard with the manager and sent in photographs to show what we meant. For the price quoted (just short of £100), we expected a professionally executed and consistently thorough job, resulting in a house that looks and smells clean and fresh.

I would rather do it myself again until I can find a team who will show pride in their work and do it consistently well otherwise it is pointless when I have to go over it myself afterwards.

We terminated the agreement and are on the look out for someone else.

The initial clean and the first two regular cleans were good, if expensive. The third one was awful, missing a lot of areas and only doing others in a cursory manner. I worked out it was over £40 per person-hour into the bargain! Management said they would put it right, but a brief visit from one maid still left the shower uncleaned. After that the management did not even try to apologise or defend. Did return my keys promptly though.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed with management of this company (not with cleaning). My cleaning slots were often cancelled last minute. Management didn’t seem to care they were cancelling a service I had agreed to and really needed.

Merry Maids provides excellent services and quality work. However, their work environment is so toxic and the management team is so number driven that they don’t care about their employees which makes for a high turnover rate and unhappy customers when they lose their regular cleaning lady. This job is physically demanding and you have to care about your employees and their well-being for them to carry out their duties to the best of their ability. I’d recommend their service depending on your location but never employment. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

I needed a deep clean and after that regular cleaning of a flat in Guildford and googled. I was delighted to find Merry Maids of Guildford. They are amazing! So diligent and thorough, excellent time keeping and always finding a solution to accommodate date changes / additional dates. They managed the challenging Covid Situation very well. They bring their own equipment/ products and leave the flat gleaming. Friendly, polite, committed, hard working, efficient, professional - such good service. Simply the best! The flat is very clean - when Merry Maids team have been - it is in safe hands. I highly recommend Merry Maids of Guildford !!

Absolutely terrible!
We had bought a new house, and the kitchen was in a state so I called Merry Maids for a DEEP clean before we moved in. Not sure what their definition of a deep clean is, but one of the two ovens wasn't even cleaned at all. The insides of the drawers weren't done as there was dust, a penny and crumbs inside. The floor was left filthy, and there were actually a few drops of coffee or something on a wall that they didnt even bother to wipe off. I got the impression that they wiped everything over once with a cloth and that was the extent of it. Certainly NOT a deep clean, and hardly even sufficient for a weekly up keep clean. WOULD not recommend AT ALL.

I had service twice a month for almost four years with Merry Maids. Last year due to COVID they changed the week my service was scheduled. I was unable to call them and get it fixed because I was overseas. When I returned I called and requested them to put my service back on its original week for billing purposes. The representative told me they had other customers and that would mess up their whole schedule. I wasn’t the one that altered the week scheduled, that was their problem. Apparently they weren’t interested in keeping my business so I canceled my service. The representative was delighted to get rid of me. This is not a good way to conduct a business. Especially when word of mouth recommendations are your bread and butter. Bottom line, there are tons of other cleaning companies out there. I won’t ever do business with them again or recommend them to anyone.

Merry Maids have done an excellent job of cleaning my sons flat. It was in need of a thorough clean and the merry maids worked so so hard when we returned home everything was smelling fresh and sparkly clean!!! I would definitely recommend to anyone. Thank you so much for such a great job!!!!

The woman who walked around my condo (for a quote) with me was kind and professional. She quoted 1 hour of work for 2 employees to clean 2 bathrooms, sweep the floors in 3 rooms (furniture all removed), and clean the few windows there. Sounded great to me. When they were performing the work, at about 45 minutes I was told they would need ONE ADDITIONAL HOUR to finish the cleaning. I asked them what the problem was and they said "one person is stuck with vacuuming and the other is having trouble with a bathroom".

Please, mind you, I have a 1300 sq ft property. All of the furniture was removed, and it wasn't in terrible shape to begin with. I could clean it myself within an hour but there is so much going on in my personal life I chose to have someone else do it.

They stopped at the 1 hour mark because I thought it was absurd to pay another $140 to have them take 5 minutes to sweep and finish one of the bathrooms. When my husband called to see what was up with this, he was basically told there was nothing they could do about it and we could take our business elsewhere.

I knew we should have gone with a local, small owned business who actually cares about customer service and addressing their shortcomings. Thanks for nothing, Merry Maids! I'll head over there now and spend 15 minutes finishing cleaning so we get our full security deposit back.

Merry Maids in Virginia Beach, Virginia is one Branch I would call upon again and again. Service is wonderful and the cleaners are professional and courteous.

One of the better cleaning services I've used. Cost is a bit high, but you get what you pay for.

I used Merry Maids in Brighton, CO and they were horrible. The first group of cleaners did a horrendous job. The owner even admitted it. The second group did much better, but did not address many of the areas I had brought up with the owner after the first crew came out. I would never use this particular Merry Maids again. I wanted my money back due to unacceptable service, but this did not happen, even though they offer a money back guarantee of satisfaction.
