Pompous Customer Service and Avoiding Eye Contact


Bought on-line Vergani’s hand-wrapped panettone from TKMaxx the year before. They arrived flat topped and were compressed causing them to lose their airiness. We described the condition with a photo to TKMaxx customer service, they apologised and accepted the return.

Bought 2 hand-wrapped Vergani panettone from this seller when on offer this year. They arrived worse than the condition as those from TKMaxx. Just by looking at the delivery, we could tell they had been handled roughly. We informed the seller straightaway and sent them a photo with one unwrapped to demonstrate our claim, one proper panettone from Loison in the background for comparison, and requested to return the one not yet opened They refused. They said they have been selling this brand for years, that Vegani panettone don't have very domed tops, and they can't accept that the taste of them has been compromised. Well, the panettone looks a solid mass for us. The seller’s years of experience tell them otherwise (photo attached)

The lesson we have learned is to continue to opt for boxed or tinned panettone as we always have done, and buy delicate bakery produce only from reputable retailers who have established system of quality control and take heed of consumer’s rights when things go awry.
