The Cube challenge lost all of its quality.
We went to an escape room sometime ago and it went great. We went again later to the cube challenge and it was so fun, that we really wanted to share the experience with more people.
But the third time we came, it was extremely frustrating. We bought 2 hours. They gave us broken wristbands that we could not wear on our wrists. The staff apologized for that, which means they are broken as a standard. During the first ten minutes we had to go back to the desk because the wristbands were not being read by most of the screens. They changed them for us. Went back again, and they still did not work in most of the rooms. In the rooms that they did work, there were technical failures such as lights not working, buttons not working, or the entire thing not working and we losing not even entering the room.
We tried to make the most of our time with the few rooms that had no issues but we still had more than an hour left and there was nothing else to do; also because we were so underwhelmed at that point and we could not be sure if us losing challenges was due to us being bad players or some other technical issue.
We went back to the desk and explained the situation. They offered a refund for 1 of the players (we were 4). That seemed ridiculous. After some negotiation we got 25 mins of VR which seemed the most "convenient" regarding money. And we chose right, VR was really really fun and we would love to do it again.
However, we left with such a sad feeling. We were so excited about repeating the experience at the cube and now we would not even try again for how terrible it was. It is beyond the money, it is the loss of something that once was great but due to lack of maintenance, probably, it became something simply frustrating and underwhelming.
