Bought for a good friend who has recently had a baby, she was feeling very emotional as to be expected. So I sent her and her mum this beautiful cake card to enjoy together. It arrived the next day and they were both so happy and said the cakes were out of this world. I will definatly use this company in the future.

The cake was squashed into plastic…
The cake was squashed into plastic wrap. It broke when you tried to remove it from the cardboard sheet. Cake was stale and pretty much tasteless

Disappointing taste, lovely artwork
The picture print out was genuinely beautiful and my mum (the recipient) loved it. However, that was the only good thing. I ordered 2 slices of cake which cost 24.97 (including delivery) and the cakes did not taste fresh at all and had a weird artificial taste. I don't know if it was a bad batch but for the price you pay, it's 100% not worth it. I definitely wouldn't order again which is a shame because the artwork on the card was so lovely and the whole mail bake concept is really good.

The cakes looked great. Packaging cellophane a little fiddly to get off without taking cake with it. Cakes didn’t taste light and fresh to be honest. Didn’t taste stale but didn’t taste super fresh, as advertised. The choc Bruce cake not choc choc choc in your face as expected. The vanilla lemon ok. Nothing special. I had ordered the same for my sister and she said they were nice. I wanted to taste for myself. I do bake myself so am very picky and fussy with cakes and tastes and lightness etc etc

Late but offered a refund
Ordered cake card for the 9th of October. It didn’t arrive. On the 12th I received an email asking if I had received it and I said I hadn’t, I was then told the cake would be sent out straightaway and even thought it was late I was willing to give it a chance but the cake did not arrive till late afternoon on the 16th and my recipient had already left for a week long holiday in the morning, the use by date on the cake is the 20th so it could not be gifted. I contacted Mailbakes politely to ask for a refund as I had to order another present as the cakes did not arrive and have just been ignored.
After seeing my review Mail bakes did contact me and offered me a full refund and a voucher towards another purchase so I am happy that they rectified the situation. I would probably try using them once more as I do like the idea behind sending cake in a card but would just hope they could sort out prompt delivery next time.
