Quick pickup and drop out. Car was clean and in good condition.

Hired a car in bari and drove to Sicily. The car was excellent. Smooth ride. Picking up the car was easy but had to wait for reserved time, no problem. Returning car in Sicily was no hassle after initial check of condition and inside/out. Would rent again for sure. Great experience.

Came out of the arrivals to find huge queues at other rental desks! At Locauto I had to wait 2 minutes. The staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Car was clean and almost new and drop-off completely stress-free.
Would fully recommend. Might cost a few pounds more than than some, but for the lack of hassle is it worth it?

Fast car pick up and return. We had a small Fiat Panda that had been driven for little over 42000 km. No issues. Would recommend!

I can confidently say that this rental company is one of the most reliable in Italy. The car rental process was smooth, the car was good and fairly new (a VW T-Roc), and there were no issues during the return—no scams at all.However, you really need to pay attention to the fuel. Their claimed 'full tank' isn't actually completely full, even though the electronic fuel gauge shows it is. After driving just a few kilometers, the fuel gauge bars start to drop. In this way, the company trickily tries to gain extra fuel. They give you a car with a supposedly full tank, but you return it to them with a genuinely full tank. That’s a profit of at least 10 liters from every customer. Not a bad business model, right? :)

The staff was very helpful, the booking process simple, and the car we got was new and in a great condition. Great experience, I will surely use Locauto again!

Disappointing and worrying experience

The cars were relatively new and appeared clean, but the basic safety checks were extremely concerning.

Our first car had a visibly bulging/damaged tyre which was already present when we collected it. It then took around a day of trying to contact Locauto before the issue was resolved and the vehicle was replaced.

The replacement car then showed a tyre-pressure warning and later a “Check Low Beam Headlights” warning, with one headlight not working properly. Driving at night on Italian motorways with a headlight fault was genuinely frightening. When I raised this with Locauto staff, the issue was simply dismissed.

I appreciate rental cars are heavily used, but tyres, tyre pressures and headlights are basic safety essentials and should be checked before vehicles are handed over.

Unfortunately, after safety-related issues with two separate vehicles, I would not rent with Locauto again.

We were very happy with the car rental service. The whole process was smooth and easy, and the staff were very professional and honest. We especially appreciated that no deposit was required. Everything was handled correctly and transparently. Highly recommended!

I hired a car to be picked up in Bari airport- Italy.

I paid all of the cost before I left Australia through a third party. No issues

I knew that I still had to pay the one-way rental fee plus the additional driver. I paid this at the desk on the terminal, got my receipt of payment and headed to the office to pick up the car.

When I got to the office the man behind the counter told me I had to pay for the additional driver, showed him the receipt that said I had paid it. He rang the terminal office and after speaking to “someone” he said it had not been paid.

If I wanted the car I had to pay for the additional driver.

At this stage, hot bothered and really annoyed I paid the fee. He said I would get the receipt via email.

Needless to say I have paid for the additional driver twice as per my credit card statement.

He didn’t show us the car, just pointed at a vehicle in the car park.

I have had several emails back and forth with Locauto and they claim that I was not charged twice, even though I had proof of payment.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. Customer service is appalling.

Now I have to try and claim this back via my credit card company.

Very friendly staff; picking up and returning the car was quick and easy; good car; fair price; I'll be back :-)
