Fitting lenses to own frames

Went there to see about fitting lenses to my frames. They are titanium frames and the arms are connected to the lens frame with small screws. When they examined them they said the sweat and weather had caused the solder to react with the metal and made them loose and as it is quite vigorous to fit new lens in they could break the frames and that would be down to me. My lenses are held in with fishing line so would put no strain on the frames. I have been an auto electrician for many years and done lots of soldering and can see there is no solder in my glasses. Just a con.

Templeman

I have been using Templeman in Laindon for many years and find them very helpful and knowledgeable. I feel that if I have a problem I can call them anytime and they will do their utmost to help me.

Home visit

Home visit , rushed about picking frames not given the offer of a cheaper version.. Ended up with a pair not suitable for what I needed so had another pair at a cost that still wasn't suitable . Kept being told the price was expensive because I had pick a dearer frame was never offered a cheaper version , I was shown six different frames to choose from ( do they still do NHS ones ) so now I have two pairs of glasses that I can not wear and they want more money from me to correct their mistake

Excellent experience

I have health issues that can make it difficult for me to travel to an opticians, and I often have trouble communicating verbally. However, this optician made me comfortable and were clearly focused in making sure I got the treatment I needed rather than up-selling me expensive frames (not that they don't have a good selection!) I met the optician, the fitter (sorry, don't know his job title),and the receptionist - all very personable. Better yet, they were efficient in making appointments and texting me the dates. Excellent stuff.

Procede with caution

They are quick enough to take an order but their after care is nil. I have spent a lot of money with .this company. A few weeks ago I bought 3 pairs of glasses from them. After 2 wears a lens fell out of one pair and i have been trying for 2 weeks now to get someone to contact me to get this repaired. So far to no avail. I suggest anyone to consider this company with caution

The after care service of Templeman Opticians Laindon.

The after care service for this company in Laindon Basildon is nil......I got a pair of Glasses from them in February this year....Paid a lot of money for the glasses...all of a sudden the screw on the left lens started to work loose and the left lens fell out twice....luckily it did not break.....by some luck I found the screw and put it back as I needed the glasses to drive. I took it to Templeman opticians in Laindon Basildon where I got them from. The Secretary looked at it and told me there is nothing they can do about it....I said it keeps coming loose and what would happen if it falls out and breaks the next time...She said I would have to Pay for a replacement....I was shocked, I said can't you Glue it in.....She said we do not do that....I asked to speak to the manager.....Guess what...He is not in , She said she will get him to phone me.....Two days No phone call....If this is the way they treat their Elderly Customers in their Laindon Shop and the secretary who knows all about repairing glasses....I am gone.....They take your money and do not want to know if anything goes wrong.....I wonder if Mr Patel and Mr Harris knows about this....They think they have a great Company that's looks after their Customers.....There is more to say, but there is no need....Me, My family and friends will no longer be going to Templeman Laindon, Basildon??
