Beautiful place.

Beautiful place.
However, if you apply to be a volunteer you will wait until 12th of never.
I sent my details to be told I have a great skill set. Then I filled in application for it to be lost. I then actually met volunteer co-ordinator who gave me another. No response. Just by chance I met an ex tour guide in Lincoln who told me that most volunteers get in as they know someone who knows someone etc. He tried and was waiting for 2 years, by which time he had moved on.
This is sad. I will carry on in my old area, where new members are welcomed.
The fee is great, people just do not appreciate running costs. 'Christians' should know better(why boast about your beliefs?). I have a year pass. Well worth the money.

An unreasonable fee to enter this historic cathedral.

We are a Christian couple who have visited this great cathedral a number of times in the past. On this day we wanted to pray and look at the relics. We did pray and lit a candle, but to look around we were asked to pay a very unreasonable £12.50 each, or £25 as a couple. This is daylight robbery. I fully understand that the maintenance of cathedrals is a mighty expensive business and that the collections from worshippers do not meet the need. There are other ways to raise funds for Lincoln cathedral, I should know as I’m actively involved in raising funds for Llandaff cathedral in Cardiff.

Stunning Lincoln cathedral

Lincoln cathedral is a stunning building on the top of a hill. We did the ground floor tour and our tour guide, Ingrid, was so friendly and knowledgeable. There is a roof tour too. There is so much to see here - a visit is definitely recommended.

Amazing building, great tours

Lincoln Cathedral is one of the most remarkable buildings in the country, on a hilltop location visible from miles around. It has fairly recently been restored and cleaned.

The entry ticket costs £12 but you get a year-long pass so you can visit more than once. The ticket includes a tour with a volunteer guide, who explains about the stained glass, the vaulted roof, the tombs and so on. There are also more specialised tours, for example a roof tour which is amazing, taking you right up to the ancient oak beams and even out onto the roof at one point. There is a nice cafe next to the cloisters.
