A fab few days of history

Just back from the D Day Battlefields tour and had a great few days- guide (Dave) was very knowledgeable and coach staff professional and helpful. A few things to note - if you’re travelling from up north, it could be a very long journey - our pick up time was midnight on Sunday to arrive in France at about 10.30pm on Monday (we travelled to Dover the day before and picked up the coach at Folkestone to avoid this). We didn’t think it was really necessary to visit every beach -Omaha and Utah were great but the others didn’t really have much to see. We also got a bit of memorial and cemetery overload and felt there were other things we could have seen rather than another memorial / cemetery. We very much enjoyed the museums and visiting Pégasus Bridge. The hotel was very nice, clean and comfortable and great breakfast. Overall we enjoyed our trip and would definitely holiday with Ledger again.

Rome & Pompeii Trip

Everything was taken care of on this trip. Collected from home effortlessly and the drivers, Jonathan and Prem were amazing. Fantastic knowledge of the area so they gave lots of info and very good driving, I felt totally safe. Lots of room on the coach and it was very clean. Looking forward to taking another trip with Leger when I decide where to go.

The guides knowledge was fantastic .

The guides knowledge was fantastic .
Only issue was we never received any luggage labels but that's trivial.
Some of the snacks at the hotel were unavailable but still advertised.
But overall it was good.
Am looking to book another trip next year.

Excellent tour but no legroom!

A few comments about our recent visit to the WW1 battlefields in Ypres and the Somme.

The overriding impression is that it was superb, even better than we had expected.  To a large extent this was due to our guide, Ian Crouch.  His knowledge of the conflict was encyclopedic but, more than this, his fund of background information about the soldiers, delivered as we stood in front of the graves, really brought the war to life.  His enthusiasm and humanity were outstanding.

The Silver Service coach was fine and the drivers terrific but the feeder coaches in which we actually spent longer times at a stretch were woefully short of legroom.  Although I am just over 6ft even much shorter people found it uncomfortable, one even commenting that it was even worse than EasyJet!  I certainly would not have been happy to have been sitting in coach 160 on the Normandy tour.

The hotel in Mouscron was excellent but one final small niggle: we did not learn until a fortnight before departure that we would have to be in Tiverton for a 04.04 departure, necessitating our leaving home at 03.00.  With prior notice of this we might have been able to make arrangements to prevent us spending this excellent holiday in a state of sleep deprivation!

Lion d'Or ? More like Lion d'Flies

We have just returned from a trip to Rocamadour, in the Dordogne region of France. The coach and drivers, Sonia and Mark, were good, the excursions interesting and scenic. What let the whole holiday down was the hotel, the Lion d'Or in the actual medieval village of Rocamadour. It was not of the standard that we have become accustomed to from Leger; it was the worst hotel we have been to after approximately 30years with Leger/Shearings. The rooms were adequate (although the beds were never made) but the hotel restaurant was disgusting. There were flies everywhere, hopping over and in the food, on our plates, in our hair and on our persons; my husband managed to swat two on our second night there and they were still on our table in the morning at breakfast. Starting within 24hrs of eating there, approximately 50% of the coach personnel went down with vomiting and diarrhoea sometime during our stay. We complained to the proprietor, Sally, but were told it was beyond their control as we were in an agricultural area. My husband is a retired livestock farmer and didn't have flies in his kitchen! We had a drink in another village restaurant and there were no flies there. The hotel restaurant closed at 9.30pm and as there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms or in the hotel itself, we could not get a drink after 9.30pm. If this had been our first Leger holiday, we would not be travelling with you again.

The D Day tour itself is fantastic and…

The D Day tour itself is fantastic and our guide was very knowledgeable, although at various times it was quite difficult for me hear all the details. The travelling time was also very long from start to finish,(This does not mean the time for travelling on the tour days) only the travelling time from pick up in England to the hotel in France and the return journey. We only had one driver so we were not offered any hot or cold drinks WHILE the bus was in motion from England to the hotel in France.

Usual Luxuria standards not met on part of holiday

Having travelled with Leger on a number of occassions we have always received a great service from the Leger staff. It was the same on this trip apart from the return journey when we were moved to a replacement coach and crew. Unfortunately we do not feel that the experience we had on these last two days was up to Leger's usual Luxuria standard.

We had a lovely holiday

We had a lovely holiday. First time with Leger but it all worked perfectly. We travelled in a Luxuria Coach which was very comfortable and we wouldn't hesitate to do the same again. Kris and Bart were our drivers and were curteous and helpful.

Liked the holiday overall

Liked the holiday overall but would have preferred more information about the itinerary before booking…it was left to the drivers/tour guides to tell everyone about the very early mornings involved. The drivers/tour guides were excellent. They have a very difficult and often stressful job to do which I’m not sure everyone appreciates.

4-day D Day tour out this world

We’ve just come back from a 4-day Normandy trip with Leger Battlefield Tours, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish.

The tour was really well organised, with a great balance between travel, guided visits, and time to take everything in. Visiting the sites of the D-Day Landings and learning more about Operation Overlord in person was something else entirely — especially standing at Omaha Beach and seeing the views from the old German bunkers.

We also visited Pegasus Bridge and Sainte-Mère-Église, which really brought the history to life in a way you just don’t get from books or documentaries.

A special mention has to go to our tour guide, Niall Cherry — he was absolutely fantastic. His knowledge, storytelling, and passion for the history made a huge difference and really elevated the whole experience.

Overall, a brilliant and very moving trip that I’d highly recommend to anyone interested in history or wanting to better understand how these events shaped the world we live in today.

Trip to Italy

Booking was easy. Drivers were excellent. Main hotel was superb and transit hotels above expectations. More detailed information including maps about areas visited would have been very helpful.

As usual a cracking experience

As usual the overall experience was as good as expected. The drivers, Simon and Adrian, were excellent always on hand with advice and help especially as we had two ladies requiring the use of a wheelchair. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel was clean, comfortable and offered a substantial breakfast as well as a good bar with excellent meals. My only issue was concerning my booking of 'Home to Home' pickup. Initial pickup was timely but home return meant I had to wait with the drivers for about 15 minutes for my driver to appear, Also the pickup point in Dudley was in an awkward spot for the drivers to navigate to and actually bypassed a better drop off point, namely Ednam Road, which has been used by Leger before. Otherwise completely happy, thank you!

My 1st Leger Coach Tour to The French Riveria

It was my 1st coach trip and I used the door-to-door service which made everything worry-free. I wanted to revisit The French Riviera and Monaco and this trip allowed me to do that at a reasonable cost. Our drivers Simon and Rob were excellent and everything ran to schedule. This is a very busy trip because you are visiting so many places and also have some free time at each. The Monaco & Monte Carlo additional trip was wonderful even though I had visited before, but you will never get bored of this place. There are some early mornings and evenings in transit, where you eat late but bearing in mind the cost of the holiday and everything it covers, it is good value and you can relax and sleep on the coach. Transit hotels were clean & functional and on the outskirts of Riems. The newly refurbished Ibis Hotel was very comfortable and had a restaurant. The hotel in Diano Marina was clean, friendly and all inclusive with drinks and packed Lunch, which was adequate. It was a shame the pool (seasonal) was not open as weather was hot. All in all it was a great tour and experience for the money and I would do another one.
