I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Leaders Letting & Estate Agents in Bournemouth has been so stressful and poorly handled that I feel I must warn others.
On 15 August, I paid my holding deposit. The payment successfully left my bank, and I provided official proof of the transaction multiple times to their agent, Caddick. Despite this, I spent three months being ignored. Every time I emailed or called to ask for an update, I received the same dismissive answer: “We have not received the money.” No investigation, no follow-up, nothing. I asked them to send me official proof of them not receiving the money (so I could argue with my bank If they had made a mistake) and they also failed to do so.
In November, desperate for a solution, I called again. Instead of helping, they told me they “could not do anything” and simply gave me the number for their internal accounts team, to try to solve this on my own. When I contacted accounts, I was told they do not speak directly to tenants and that Leaders should have raised a ticket months ago. I genuinely had to beg them not to hang up, explain the full situation, and send the proof yet again.
Within minutes, the accounts team found the missing payment and asked how I wanted my refund. That moment made it painfully clear that Leaders had failed to track the payment, failed to follow basic procedures, and failed to provide even the minimum level of customer service during a very stressful time. I literally had to do their job to be able to find the money.
Now that I am actually living in one of their properties, the problems continue. Several things in the flat do not work as expected, and instead of helping, Leaders only add layers of bureaucracy with no real solutions or timelines. I constantly feel like I’m on my own with this property.
I strongly advise anyone looking to rent in Bournemouth to think twice before choosing Leaders. My experience has been nothing but exhausting, unprofessional, and disappointing.

Where do I even begin? My experience with Leaders has been nothing short of a nightmare, especially as an international student. From the very first step, they have created unnecessary complications and stress at every turn.
1. Payment Problems From Day One:
They only accept deposits from a UK bank account, refusing international cards. This created an immediate barrier. To make matters worse, our first deposit payment was lost, and it took three months of back-and-forth with their payments team to resolve it ourselves.
2. Advance Payment Hassle & Key Withholding:
As an international student, I was required to pay 6 months’ rent in advance. I made this in two separate transactions because it was a lot of money. I sent proof of payment of both, but they just claimed that they had received 1 payment out of two. Even though they already held 3 months' rent, they refused to hand over the keys until their bank finally processed the transfer. To avoid sleeping in the street that day, I was forced to make a duplicate payment just to get access to the apartment—only to be refunded days later when the original payment finally cleared. This was financially stressful and completely unprofessional.
3. Unresolved Maintenance Issues:
Once we moved in, we reported serious damp and pipe-related issues over a month ago. Their response? “The landlord hasn’t replied.” Is it not their responsibility as the managing agent to ensure urgent maintenance is addressed? We’re still living with these problems, with no resolution in sight.
Overall, dealing with Leaders has been exhausting, inefficient, and incredibly stressful. I would not recommend them to any student, especially international students who need reliable, clear, and supportive service. Look elsewhere—your peace of mind is worth it.

It is not often you come across a company as breathtakingly incompetent as leaders. Absolutely disgraceful lack of action of fixing problems during my mums tenancy and seemingly unable to release over paid rend and deposit since she passed away. Thankyou Olivia Mitchell for making me chase you relentlessly during this difficult time. I can only imagine the positive review naming you was written by yourself.

I lived in a Leaders property for 3 years. For the most part, they were decent. Until you need anything done, anyway.
In August 2024, my ex husband moved out and I requested him to be removed from the tenancy agreement. They asked for the £50 fee for this upfront and I paid. And waited. And waited. I chased them up with various emails over the following months and it was never done.
Fast forward to March 2025 and I've decided to move. I gave them notice, everything went fine until it was deposit refunding time (note, they never did take my ex off the tenancy agreement, or refund me the £50 it cost). I spent a solid day cleaning the place and left spare bulbs for the next tenant (the bulbs were blowing every 5 seconds, some faulty wiring or something) and they still wanted to take £400 out of my deposit for cleaning and bulbs. I disputed this and I still haven't heard back from them - it's now June!
I've emailed and called but I never get a reply or call back (that person is always in a meeting, how convenient). Please, just give me my deposit and £50 back. I've had enough.

My experiences with Leaders Estate Agents Bournemouth office are very disappointing and in the same time makes me angry and shocked. Its started few years ago with one of my flats. They rented it out and the charges were reasonable then. I decided to use them for the other flat I have and the nightmare started. For the 1st month Leaders paid to my account £170.54 from the monthly rent of £1275.00. I couldn’t believe it and called the office to question. They told me that these are their fees and they will try to lower them from the next property I’m renting through them. For this flat I have used them for 4 months and there were a lot of plumbing charges applied. Every month less and less money goes into my account. But the other issue appears for the 1st flat rented through them after I told them that I like to give to them 2 months Notice for termination. They told me that this cannon be served to the tenants because the EPC expired 1 month ago. I got the EPC guy to do EPC but they never cooperate, so he couldn’t attend the flat. I contacted Leaders management and all overall changed. They told me that they will serve the Notice to the tenants. I felt let down and cannot wait to get Leaders Estate Bournemouth out of my business life. Maybe they satisfied many landlords, but for me they are playing unfair game and didn’t deliver what I expected. Will never recommend or use them again. To me they don’t care about the landlords and they do not protect landlords in general. 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿
