BEWARE WHEN THINGS GO WRONG

BEWARE WHEN THINGS GO WRONG. THEY ARE UNHELPFUL AND UNRELIABLE. TAKE YOUR MONEY AND LET YOU GET ON WITH ANY PROBLEMS. NOT RECOMMENDED.
We used LC Rent in July 2024. They were cheap compared to others and came "recommended". Unknown to us they sent us off from the airport with a car that had a bald and illegal tyre and another that was borderline illegal. We found this out when we had a puncture in the middle of nowhere. I can change a tyre but couldn't as the wheel brace/spanner had been broken by a previous user. When I contacted the office for help I was told by the lady that I had to replace the tyre at my cost (a repair was out of the question due to the state of the tyre). A nearby english speaking lady came to our help and spoke to them to tell them that we couldn't change the tyre and they would have to send out a breakdown truck. After 1.5 hours in the baking sun the truck arrived with no tools to change the tyre. You can't make this up.
More calls to the LC office resulted in them telling the breakdown truck that the car would have to be taken back to the breakdown depot for the tyre to be changed ( a 35 minute journey one way) but only one passenger could go with the breakdown truck. WTH! Leaving passengers at the side of the road in the blazing sun for at least another 1.5 hours is NOT acceptable and LC need to review their advice and practices!
After about 3.5 hours from puncture time we were able to recommence our journey. The next day we purchased a part-worn tyre to replace the spare (I was NOT going to buy a new one seeing as the original was bald and illegal) and found out that we have now been charged 20 Euros for travelling on the back of the recovery truck on the motorway!
We have emailed LC rent twice to ask for our 20 euros back and the 55 euros for the replacement tyre that was only needed due to their negligence and they have blanked us completely.
We are in the process of recovering a bank chargeback on the 20 Euros but think we will have to kiss goodbye to the 55 Euros.
They may be cheap, the reviews may look good but ask yourself if any of those reviewers had anything go wrong. If something does go wrong then LC rent are NOT reliable, helpful or bothered,it appears.
Do you want a cheap hire or do you want assurance with your car hire?
NOT RECOMMENDED.
