First time purchasing a brompton from…
First time purchasing a brompton from Kingfrankbromptons via IG page, selected an pre-owned grade A+ bike. The service was fine and the responses were quick before the purchase, received photos of the bike details. The description of the A+ bike is almost new, confirmed again there aren’t scratches on the bike before the purchase. Some bikes were remarked in the list which location has scratch and scuff and whether it is obvious or not; however none was mention for the bike I purchased and it was also confirmed in written.
Received the DHL tracking number the next day and the logistic was all fine. Took a video during unboxing and there are 3 obvious scratches on the bike, 2 of the areas are kind of unavoidable cased by folding and the hook of the front wheel (would be nice if these were shown in the sample photo), the last part was at the head tube facing outside when it’s at the folded position, there were many scratches and were very obvious, definitely not nice and should have been mentioned. Asked Mohammad if anything can be done, he suggested using wd40 to clean it but it didn’t work. He said this is a common cable rubbing area but it’s not because the cable is rubbing the other side of the head tube and through the entire using and folding, the cable doesn’t rub that side facing outside at the folded position. I further asked if there was anything else can be done to save the scratches and wondering why wasn’t this mentioned at all from the pictures and during our conversation before purchasing…but for several days I didn’t get a single response……I got my bike, it wasn’t a scam but for sure the experience was not nice, the communication went straight down when I had question about the bike, what’s worse than the seller doesn’t even care to reply. If the bike is perfect then you are lucky, If there isn’t any wrong with the bike, don’t even think about you will get any customer service and support.
Update on 15/5 after Kingfrankbromptions’s reply:
1. Never received any email from Kingfrankbromptions about the scuffing issue, so in reply stated “as we discussed via email” is not true, never happened.
2. Did not get any partially refund according to the reply. Besides what I saw in the reply here, neither any information about the refund nor how to get a repaint job in their partner was received.
3. Kingfrankbromptons said would ensure better communication although different time zone adding delay but I sent them an email on wed after getting the first reply here and another reminder afterward, hear absolute nothing from them. Guess unless it’s a public communication, they don’t care to reply. I can upload all the communications here if necessary. WhatsApp messages not a reply since 11 days and also no email reply at all.
Let’s see what will happen…….
