Kier Urban Quarter Bristol - Simon is a true asset to the company!
We had a very pleasant experience buying a new home with Kier. We dealt with Simon (Sales Executive) during the whole process who was absolutely brilliant and very supportive during some very challenging times! He always kept us informed and through each hiccup he was always reassuring and helpful! Kier were very patient and understanding during the whole process which did take longer than anticipated! We are finally in our new home!

Utter disaster of a company
Utter disaster of a company, paid £265k for a house completion was delayed due to the building failing its NHBC checks. We have since had no end of snagging issues and quality problems which their “customer service department” seeming aren’t interested in resolving. Avoid at all costs.

Aftercare non-existing (Eastern)
Would like to echo previous comments that house itself seems to be ok however inside finishing isn't. Poor, cheap trade is used to finish properties. 2 years into new house and still have numerous issues outstanding. Don't expect customer care to ring you or email with an update on your issues. I have to call them every time and re-raise already submitted issues! They don't seem to have any proper tool or software to keep a track of the issues on your property. Every time you get in touch with them there is new person dealing with your account that has no visibility of what is happening. No explanation/time lines on when issues will be resolved. No chance to get to speak with their team leader or senior management - they are either not in the office or they don't share their contact details. Left my own numerous times, never got a call back. Disappointing.

I would absolutely NOT recommend anyone…
I would absolutely NOT recommend anyone to buy Kier homes. very poor build quality. Customer service is beyond a joke. Its been 1.5 years the issues I have raised not been addressed. I lost so many hours trying to reach Kier Customer service. Site managers change very often and no one takes ownership to resolve.
I am now almost with the mindset to resell the property.

Awful Aftercare Team
Me and my fiancé bought a two bedroom terraced house at a Keir Living site just over a year ago. The house itself is structurally sound and well built, however the finishings and the aftercare team are absolutely diabolical. We still have outstanding issues in our house that we have been palmed off with for the last year.
Speaking to our neighbours on site, majority of them have experienced the same thing, promises of a committed aftercare team who told us “document any issues and they will be rectified to a good standard” - yet most of our issues are still not rectified, and some of them we have been told “that is just the Keir standard finish, and we can’t do anything about that.”
To top it all off, the grounds work on site is shocking. The gardens when we moved in were a swampy wasteland, we were told that after only a few inches of top soil, there would be plenty of hardcore to support either turf or a patio in the rear garden - however we dug out approximated three feet of just sludge, mud and even rubbish that they had buried under our property.
When the gardens (neighbours included) started to flood, which would be a concurrent issue on site; they told us they were unable to provide us or anyone else with a drainage system.
To conclude, Keir Living would be a wonderful property developer - if they actually cared about their customers beyond the transfer of funds - which unfortunately they don’t.

Nice building, appalling aftercare.
The building is of a fantastic spec but we have been beyond seriously let down when it comes to aftercare. We still have snags 9 months later and constantly have to chase them up or we simply get forgotten and that ruins every good thing that they started with.
Extremely disappointed.

A bit of a mixed bag to be honest. Its the 1st new house ive ever bought whereas my partner has bought a couple. We reserved our plot in july 2020 under the smooth move scheme. I sold my previous martial home within 2 weeks with the 2nd estate agent and waited 9 weeks without our solicitor completing any paperwork sadly. Our buyers buyer pulled out because of this. They then re sold their property within 2 days, however lost their buyer 5 times. We were promised extras ie fridgefreezer, dishwasher, under cupboard lighting in kitchen, extra shower in the main bathroom and a contribution to move as part of our sale agreement by the original sales rep Bruce who was extremely helpful at the time. However he didn't write what was agreed on the reservation sheet nor did he give us a copy of the reservation sheet. He then left the site at christmas so we were followed up by the area manager Julian Long. After an initial rocky start where we were told we would lose our reservation if not exchanged contracts within a very short time frame Julian helped to progress our buy by going above and beyond with emails and calls for our exchange and completion. Nothing was too much trouble for him after a very emotional rollercoaster ride of we are having the house then no we were'nt. We visited the house a few weeks prior to moving to decide our flooring as this hadnt been documented from our previous visits. We walked into the house to find none of the agreed extras were installed, also the bathroom tiles were the wrong way round in the main bathroom as our preference hadnt been documented properly. After having a mini melt down John the site manager calmed me down and assure us things would get sorted. Julian, the new sales rep lydia, john and the site team have done their up most to put things right, we agreed a compromise for some of the extras which were installed prior to moving date and have settled into our new home nicely. John is always at the end of the phone for any snags that have arisen, he also built us airing cupboard shelves to put into the cupboard at top of our stairs, he is always helpful.

After a year and a half of been in the heating system is still faulty most days we have no hot water. Roof tile has been hanging off the back of the house for the past year.

Do not buy with Kier
Do not buy with Kier. They sell houses knowing they have issues. They do not care about any new home owner and have no idea how to manage work, I had to basically plan for the render repairs on my house. They felt it was expectable for me to live with scaffolding around my house for nearly 3 months. Do not buy any render houses - they are full of defects! Kier lie, and unreliable and just careless. Even when I told them their actions resulted in me having a nervous breakdown, they still didn’t care or assist me on getting my house sorted. Worst customer experience of my life!
The fact that so many of their site managers (who were clueless) have resigned says it all. But the issues continue you up the entire chain to directors and head of customer service. Stay away from them!!

We are following the Greenway Place…
We are following the Greenway Place development review of one of our neighbors below, we live in one of the houses affected:
Living in our new home for one year, the amount of issues we had to deal with is unbearable - starting from constant and repetitive plumbing & electricity issues (basics!). We are not going to even mention the property finish and how far below industry standard it falls.
Impression - company is cashing in and quickly moving to the next poor buyer, not caring for existing clients at all and the issues questionable workmanship is causing them.
We consider it our social responsibility to leave this review and to warn everyone.
Do not buy anything from Kier if you value you money, time & most importantly mental health.

Kier don’t keep their promises.
(EDITED)
I’ve bought a new build from kier living, the house had defects even as we viewed the house but we were assured they would be put right within 12 months. This includes a window that can’t be securely shut (been this way all through the winter months) a water leak that is causing more and more damage to the new property every day.
Celtic horizons are the company who are meant to fix the defects, after looking at the defects they’ve completely ignored us and fobbed us off. Celtic horizons who are in some sort of partnership with kier told me on the phone today I’d have to fix myself or take legal action against kier. I would never have bought the house if I knew they would not stick to their word.
Avoid buying from kier at all costs.
Since writing the above review I was contacted by kier living saying they’d get it sorted so I would take this review down, I was willing to accept that.
It’s now been another month or so with no contact, I’ve sent emails and left voicemails, ignored once again! Kier clearly are not going to do as they have promised once again.
The house I’ve bought is costing me more in repairs than the cost of my mortgage, it’s a brand new house!!!!
Look elsewhere, poorly built houses and even worse customer care!

Angry and frustrated
Dealing with kier for 2 months now as we are purchasing a 4 bedroom property
Our Mortgage was passed, our other property up for sale, house price and deposit contribution discussed and all agreed all ready to go
Then check the website the next day and the house price has risen 10k and the contribution they offered has lowered, apparently because we hadn't signed anything nothing we can do, disgusting we have spent several weeks sorting everything to then be let down by this company I thought they would still honour our agreement
First home - Snowdon Grange
We have recently purchased our first home with Kier and we couldn’t be happier. The team at Snowdon Grange have made a potentially stressful experience one to remember. We reserved our house in Feb 2020 and not long after we were in unknown territory with construction postponed due to national lockdown. However, Bruce the sales rep kept us informed throughout what could’ve been a worrying time for buying our first home. He was always happy to answer all our endless questions and was even happy to help us complete our Help To Buy forms. He was always very professional, informative and friendly! Bruce made the experience special as he knows buying a home is a big deal, whereas other sales reps have made it feel like we were just popping to the supermarket for some milk!!
We moved into our home in Sept 2020 after only a short delay from expected completion (thank you lockdown) after the team at Snowdon Grange did all they could to get us in our home. John and Nick the site managers have gone above and beyond to make the experience one we will never forget. They are always more than happy to help and in the first 8 weeks in our home they answered all our concerns and resolved snags without question. We know if we have an issue they are only a phone call away and will resolve the issue promptly. Although now we are raising any snags with Customer Care, if we see John or Nick on site they will always be sure to check everything is ok. We feel very lucky to have a team on-site who truly care about the houses they are building and the people who will call them home. Our house is gorgeous inside and out! The selling point for us was the large hallway and landing, having viewed other developers homes they all seemed to squash rooms into a small plot. However, Kier have made a gorgeous house in the Pinewood. All the rooms are very spacious and perfect for entertaining family and friends (when we are allowed!). John, Nick and Bruce are an asset to Kier and if all Kier sites were the same as this one there would be lots of happy home owners.

Absolutely atrocious
Absolutely atrocious, had issues before we moved in with snags, told us they would sort them, low and behold they never, still got issues now from when we moved in and been moved in 6 months!! I’m an electrician by trade and on my sites we do things properly, the floor layers on this site thought it would be a good idea to put vinyl flooring on a concrete floor without screeding it lol, low and behold can feel lumps on your floor!

We love our well designed and very well insulated new home
We selected Kier Living as the only builder we found in Wales that would take our English home in part exchange. This made for a less than 6-week move during Covid in good time to benefit from the much reduced land transaction tax.
As for the home itself my wife and I are very pleased to live in a comfortable, spacious home that seems very well built. Two weeks in quarantine was no problem.
Added to that we are now within cycling distance of our grandchildren ready for the end of lockdown.

Beware - Awful build and terrible customer service
Horrendous is the only word to use. I purchased one of the show homes at a Kier site. The lounge ceiling came through after the shower was used once as it wasn’t plumbed in, sink in kitchen still leaking 15 months on, a snagging list of 80+ Items and still trying to get things done from day 1. Agreement to have my garage 3 months after I moved in, handed over a year later and it is growing mould up the walls and so damp it smells horrendous. Kier promised to store my garage items whilst my garage wasn’t available. £1,000’s and £1,000’s of damage to those items that had to be thrown away. Kier promised to compensate me for the items but never have, promised to compensate for the way I have been treated but nothing. They ignore every thing, not just from me, from every house owner I speak to on the site. They Promise things will be done and never turn up.
They have made me really unwell and caused some much upset and loss both financially and emotionally.
If I could rate 0 stars I would
If I could rate 0 stars I would, they are misleading, rude and extremely unhelpful. This was our first house. The show home had this beautiful stone effect. One of the reasons we bought that style. And we were not told we wouldn’t have this. Then the endless issues we have had and are still having two years on. The customer service is horrific. Their project manager Stuart speaks to you as if you’re a piece of....
Don’t do it. Don’t buy a house from these people. Money grabbers who don’t care about the people they put in these homes.

Post 2 year blues
I'm the second owner of a 5 year old Kier home which I moved into just before Christmas. I've previously owned a couple of new builds so know what to expect and sold my last newbuild at exactly the same age that this property is now....what a difference though. Sadly for me the pevious owners either didn't understand what a snagging list is or didn't persists in complaining to Kier to get its many issues sorted. I've got NHBC involved and they are coming to view some of the problems that might be covered by the 10 year warrenty, some other things are not covered (the most poor quality kitchen in any of the new builds I've owned, needs ripping out at 5 years old !!!!). NHBC suggested i contact Kier about the windows (as they should be covered by a manufactures warranty) which on a windy day sound like i'm sitting in a force 100 gale they let that much of the outside in. I've sent 2 emails to east customer services including a video of the noise levels to proove my point but no response. I understand there may be some staffing issues if people are off sick or self isolating but after a few weeks I'd have hoped for better. Thank god the weather is getting a bit warmer
