Helpful advice and great service

I called to resolve a deflated back tyre. I had recently had new tyres fitted for MOT test. The company who fitted them filled the tyres with nitrogen which caused no end of hassle. The guys in Kerr's Bangor were great. I thought I could have mixed the nitrogen with compressed air but the guys said that there was no benefit in having nitrogen in the tyres and for ease of future tyre deflation warnings, they suggested extracting all the nitrogen and reinflating with compressed air. And that they did. No hassle.

After years of business with Kerrs, will avoid in future

After years of business with Kerrs and thousands of pounds spent on van repairs, our Luton van suffered timing belt issue due to freezing weather over last Christmas.
Kerrs Ballyclare had changed timing belt few month’s earlier. Booked date for van to go back in for repair. That date came and went, rang up again. They would never return a call, failed to collect van and repeatedly side-stepped us for weeks.
I thought this was bad business and had to go to a renowned mechanic from the area as a last resort due to Kerrs ghosting us.
Warning signs were evident on previous visits eg Wheel trims broken or not fastened correctly after service, protective under trays left unfitted, clutches not fitted correctly with clutch pedals dropping to floor.
However, there was no humility in the invoice charging levels. This company left us without a van for almost a month, when it should only have been for about a week or so.
Take my advice and avoid.
This is unfortunate as we have always tried to support local business.

I used to be a good fan of Kerrs tyres…

I used to be a good fan of Kerrs tyres but after my recent experience I can safely say I will not darken their door again. Our Touareg threw up a warning that the brake pads were low, I immediately took it to the Ballyclare depot to get the replaced. Car left in and thinking it’s either the front or rear I got a phone call saying it was Infact all 4 corners that were 80% worn and that I needed wiper blades. For the ease I told them to go on ahead and do the work. Straight forward for a big company to charge pads I thought….. not so. I was expecting a call in the afternoon as the car was seen driving down the industrial estate - presumably for a test drive. 2 hours later I decided to phone- to which then it started - the brakes are showing an error and you now no longer have a parking brake! I needed the car the next morning so told them I’m on my way to collect it. On arrival I spoke with the mechanic who advised as he was on a test drive the error started and he had been on to his master tech who had advised that it’s the actuator that has gone…. Strange given it was all working fine when I left it in. So I thought well I’ll have to go and sort this now it will probably be reflected in the bill - wrong they still had the pleasure of charging over £430 pounds and making out that they had absolutely nothing to do with it. I took the car to a new mechanic who was able to diagnose that the car needs to be plugged in and the brakes told to wind back however some cowboy has simply pushed a screwdriver against the piston to wind it back manually thus rendering the cars brain thinking it was broken as it hadn’t been told to wind back or be retaught. 4 hours later I’m back on the road at my own expense yet the cowboys at Kerrs get off Scott free. I will never darken the door again.

Exceptional Customer Service

This month, I have had an exceptional customer service experience at Kerrs Tyres, Ballygowan Road. On 3 separate occasions this month I discovered a nail or a bolt in 3 separate tyres. On 3 separate occasions I arrived without being booked in, my car was taken almost immediately after completing paper work and it was repaired very quickly all with a very reasonable price tag. On my third visit, the team felt really sorry for me and they decided that I would not be charged for the repair which meant more given the day I had than you would know. I will be a customer for life and pass on as many recommendations as I can.

Incompetent staff who wanted more money for their mistake

New
Been a regular customer with Kerrs for over 20 years. Anyway, my wife called in last week with a faulty tyre sensor. Her car was showing rear left sensor, she was told it would cost 75£ to replace. She called me and I thought that was a bit over the top for a tyre sensor but told her to go ahead. One of the chaps came out and told her it wasn't the back sensor but the front one. She argued a bit as to why her car would say different. So she proceeded, paid and drove out. 1 hour later there are 2 sensors now warning. The original and the one they replaced. She called back and was told an apprenticeship hadn't programmed it correctly. So they sort that and she left, 2 days later the original sensor flashes again so she goes back where they demand another £75. She told them to run and jump. Terrible service from what used to be a great wee local company. 13 cars in my wider family, all now will never set foot in the place again. Got sorted at Modern Tyres for £35

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Experience at Kerr Tyres…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Experience at Kerr Tyres Portadown

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Kerr Tyres Portadown, and I have to say the service was outstanding from start to finish.

First and foremost, Celine provided exceptional customer service. She took the time to understand my needs and made sure I got the right tyres to suit my vehicle. Her friendly and engaging personality made the whole experience feel easy and personal. She kept me informed every step of the way—from ordering to letting me know when the tyres had arrived—and her attention to detail was second to none.

When it came to fitting, Jamie, the tyre technician, was equally impressive. He handled the alignment and fitting with great care and precision, and also gave me some valuable advice on tyre pressures and what to look out for in the future.

The entire team was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely customer-focused. I’ll definitely be returning for any future tyre needs.

Highly recommended!

Destroyed alloys

My car was taken to have 4 new tyres fitted some time ago, by my dad. When the car returned, I had noticed residue/glue of some form across all 4 of my alloys, to which I was reassured would come off. Safe to say, it did not. Fast forwarding to now, whatever was left on my alloys has spread and corroded them, bearing in mind it goes without saying the alloys cost a lot more than the tyres so to have had 4 new tyres paid for and fitted, and to have completely destroyed all 4 of my alloys is a disgrace. I have emailed them last Thursday, the 17th to enquire what can be done about this, to have received a response refusing ownership of the damage caused to my alloys, stating that they “could not see any damage that could have been caused by getting tyres fitted”, despite bringing this to them as a matter of fact and providing images which clearly show the state of them. Claiming they see this “corrosion” on diamond cut alloys all the time, completely ignoring what can evidently be seen in the images. It’s now the 22nd and I have yet to receive another response, despite sending another follow up email. I have been left with no choice but to get my alloys repaired, if even possible, paying out of my own pocket due to the negligence shown by the staff at this company.
I would also like to mention a separate occasion, when my dad brought his relatively new car to also get tyres fitted, to have the same negligence and lack of care shown to the point of whoever conducted the job to take a chip out of one of his chrome alloys.
Absolutely avoid going here, as from what I can see there are many unhappy customers due to wait times, prices etc, so add to that the fact that these guys will not take good care when replacing tyres, nor will they be compliant in rectifying the situation which I now find myself in.

The Portadown branch quoted a price to…

The Portadown branch quoted a price to replace front brake pads, and said the job wouold take 2 hours.

27 hours later, we collected the car.

It took 3 attempts to get the correct pads. The bill was for more than quoted, and worst of all was the mess the interior of the car had been left in.

Two large black marks on the upholstery of the driver's seat, and marks all over the driver's door and mats.

They will be paying for a full valet of my car.

Avoid.

My experience with Kerrs Tyres in Coleraine

My Daughter had left car in with this Company in Coleraine For Mot check and broken spring. She was quoted worst case scenario (Things that didn't need fixed but was told the car was too dangerous to drive home, seemingly had all these leaks and different things wrong. At a cost of £1450.00. After leaving the garage with the car not being fixed at that extortionate price, she had a slight problem with the car and had to pull into the side off the road, luckily another mechanic came on the scene and got her to his local garage. Were he inspected the car, and could not see all these faults that Kerrs had said was wrong. She was able to drive it home with no problems. The car was taken to another mechanic had 2 things wrong with it and fixed for £340 and passed Mot. After various Calls too Kerrs tyres and to headoffice they were not off any help what so ever. I myself went and priced the parts that Kerrs said she needed and the prices came to £254. Absolute disgrace that they quoted a price like that and then told her that they could knock £300 off as the brake pads which clearly didn't need done could be fixed at another time.
Will never use this company again for anything. Was clearly being ripped off.
Doesn't even deserve the 1 star

Coleraine Branch Fantastic

Used the branch in Coleraine, found the place very clean and obviously well run - its refreshing to go to a tyre supplier and it be as pleasing a spac eas any main dealership garage. Got my two tyres all fitted and reasonably priced to my van without any hitch. I'll definitely be back for more work, as I would trust them to be honest about what my vehicle requires.
