Kensington is the UK’s leading non-bank specialist mortgage lender; offering a range of residential and buy to let mortgages through a network of mortgage brokers. Our 25 year heritage in specialist mortgages means that we understand better than most that no two people are the same. That’s why we create innovative mortgages with lending criteria that gives us the flexibility to meet the needs of the people the high street doesn’t cater for. We use a combination of data and human insight to look beneath the surface, and unlike mainstream lenders, who all too often rely on what the computer says, we use real people to make our decisions. It’s this ‘’head and heart’’ approach which is the key to what we call the #KensingtonDifference.

Kensington used to be so good. Until Barclays got their hands on them
Barclays bought them as a solid company with a spark. Then applied so many new rules to them that they have snuffed out that spark and wonder why they are getting less business.
Thank you
Thank you. We had a smooth and easy process throughout. Everything was quick and simple. I definitely Recommend!

Saved by your BDM
Kensington are a frustrating lender because, in our experience, they tend to be either fantastic or incredibly difficult, with very little in between.
This particular application should have been about as straightforward as it gets. It was a resubmission of a case Kensington had already offered on, after our clients unfortunately lost their original property.
Instead, the underwriting process became unnecessarily painful, with repeated requests for information that seemed completely irrelevant to the application. One example was being asked for employment history going back around 10 years, despite Kensington’s own criteria focusing on the most recent 12 months. There were several requests like this which made what should have been a simple resubmission far more difficult and drawn out than it ever needed to be.
Then our BDM, Paul Dodimead, stepped in.
This was actually the first time I had spoken to Paul and, thankfully, he absolutely pulled it out of the bag. He understood our frustrations, took ownership of the issues and actually got involved rather than simply passing messages backwards and forwards. Once Paul became involved, we finally felt like someone was looking at the case logically and helping us get it over the line.
So the 5 stars are very much for Paul. Without his intervention, this would have been a 1-star review.
He was responsive, knowledgeable and willing to fight our corner when things simply didn’t make sense. An excellent BDM and clearly a huge asset to Kensington.
Thanks again, Paul. I look forward to meeting you in person!
Unbelievable service from their support team.
Recently had a great experience with the support team, in particular Phill Pinson.
We had a couple of tricky off-plan mortgage applications to get placed, he answered every call, nothing was too much trouble and made us feel reassured us that the clients are in great hands!
