Needed some building materials rather quick. So went on line and jewson opens at 07:00 am. Arrived at opening time went in and then told we are short of staff and we don’t open till 7:30. Yet a member... See more

For the last 5 months they changed 3 Managers in Ongar yard. That tells me a lot. Just it gets from bad to worse. A week ago that try to scam me with the building materials which I previously buy from them in big amount. Now that try to charge me almost double. Be aware. This is a scam. Stay away from this people

I’ve used the Margate branch of Jewson 3 times over the past week. Each time the staff have been excellent. Friendly, polite and helpful. Excellent customer service and I’d highly recommend this branch.

I applied to hire a concrete mixer via the Jewson website. It said they would call me back to take payment and arrange delivery. No callback transpired, so after 8 hours, I phoned the local Jewson and spoke to some gruff fellow in the hire department, to ask about my requsted mixer hire. He tells me they can't deliver as their driver is off. Then he asks me if I have an account. I told him I applied for a chash account early that morning. He said, "Well, you'll have to come in to the store then, because you applied for an account." This is ridiculous; a week or two later got a letter approving my account, and there is no mention of me having to come to the store. I took my business elsewhere, anyway. They seem like a total shambles.

Check Prices Before You Pay
Just popped in to the Penryn branch to pick up a couple of items on my way home and have now rechecked prices - am absolutely shocked how much they have charged. Over £10 per bag for cement? You always have to be careful at builders merchants because the price you pay seems to depend on what discount they give you at the till. On this occasion I was in normal clothes, (not workwear) and can only assume that the staff thought it was a chance to rip someone off. I should have paid more attention and put the stuff back.

Tool hire application process is hopeless. I wanted to hire a chipper/shredder for a week so went through the painful application process, including putting my postcode in twice and my full address before applying…only to receive a response saying they can’t do it as “we do not have any tool hire branches near you”…you’d think in 2025 that they might be able to use a site that has automated postcode checking against the database of service locations so they don’t waste the customer’s time…

We ordered two ton of stone but it worked out we only needed one.
Jewson came and collected it and refunded the money.
The guy on the phone was super helpful and the delivery guy was friendly too.
The staff make all the difference.
Recommend this Jewsons in Tenby.

Our local Jewson in Rhyl were extremely helpful. We were looking for a particular type of kitchen worktop. We wanted the straight edge, not bull-nose style and Shannon from the kitchen department sourced exactly what we wanted after a number of phone calls with their suppliers.
Nothing was too much trouble for her and even contacted us to tell us the worktops had come into store early. Delivery was arranged for the very next day which really helped us out (the delivery guys were friendly and respectful). This review gets a 5-star for Shannon’s help and professionalism. Great service!

Mixed review this.
Hired edging sander and floor sander over the phone as website is not good.
Dealt with Simon at Barnsley brilliant guy very helpful.
After running out of 40 grit sheets I went in day after but only had 3 left so got them and a bunch of 60 grit.
The sheets and discs are substandard I have sanded loads of floors in the past and never gone through as many sheets and discs so fast.
They wear down so fast and break so I went through my shed and found a disc from last time I hired and the difference is unbelievable, the ones jewsons supply and like tracing paper, this is why it’s taking ages and I’m running out it looks like a they are supplying rubbish so you need to buy more.
I will be bringing this up on Monday with Simon.
What a nightmare this has been .

Phenomenal customer service from the Poole branch!
As a non-trade person, I wasn't sure what to expect when I looked to hire a shredder/chipper.
I can honestly say I was blown away by the service and support I got from everyone in the Poole branch at Parkstone. A few small issues I had - which were of my own making - were resolved smoothly and efficiently.
Delivery, collection, the payment processs, everything was superb!
Shaun in particular along with the delivery person went above and beyond! I couldn't rate the guys at Poole highly enough! A+++

Very expensive.
Hired an edging sander for just one day and used 21 sanding sheets. I had to pay a deposit of £165 and told I would be refunded the difference once i returned it. I got just £65 back. There was nothing wrong with the item when i returned it. So £100 for one days hire.

Jewson Rochdale. Normally as a non tradesperson I approach a builders merchant with some trepidation. Gruff, impolite, unhelpful staff are the norm.
NOT SO here. Friendly, helpful and good advice given. Thank you !

Woking Branch, promised a delivery date, became aware later that Jewson were unable to make the date, didn't think it was important to let me know. The job came to a stand still whilst I listened to more classic empty promises like "it's on its way", "it left the depot", all the usual lies. It's not being late that is the issue, its the surprises and the lying. You can't run a site like this

i would give 5 stars to basingstoke branch johno- he was absolutely fantastic and did a great job in delivering the scaffold required and even when picking up. friendly, hard worker and nothing was too much trouble. thankyou johno you were a star
i put 2 stars for craig from newbury as he had such an attitude was so rude and you could tell he just didnt want to do his job. had a massive smirk on his face aswell when he said im not picking it up its not in his job description and that he is putting it back on hire.... on more than one occassions he come to pick up the scaffolding that was taking up the whole of my back garden and refused both times to take it. in the end johno from basingstoke took it with no problem, lovely smile, very friendly and nothing too much to ask. thanks johno for sorting this !

2nd order with Jewson's Wigan and was again helped by Reece, great support, friendly and very helpful finding my details when I didn't have the chit available. Again, an ambassador to your business and will definitely get my future orders. Why can't all B2C transactions be this good, other companies need to look at your business model and copy it.

Absurd prices. I registered for an online account to see their prices as I have a large project coming up that I will need to spend a lot of money.
The prices online are utterly absurd, £10.91 for a length of 2x3 cls which is available almost anywhere else for around £3 to £4.
Sheet of 18mm mdf £60 which is available most other places for around £30.
I understand there can be some disparity in prices but those are absolute robbery. I've gone to selco instead who display fair prices from the get go and dont try to milk you for every penny

Shocking! Tried to hire some items from Sutton Road branch in Plymouth, never again!
Complete lack of knowledge and customer service skills! Dealt with the tool hire manager (how I’m not quite sure!) he had little knowledge and his pricing was ridiculous to say the least! Some suggestions were verging on dangerous. Shocking, will definitely be looking elsewhere from now on!

Avoid Sutton Road at all cost!
Called to enquire about hiring, spoke to jake? he was rude, very unhelpful. Didn't have everything i needed and when queried about options didn't seem interested in helping or advising. Customer lost, and i would not recommend going there to anyone if you want friendly helpful advise.

I rang the Rochdale store & spoke with David, I wanted to have a look at some tile colours for garden so he said pop in. From the moment I arrived, through making a decision, costing all the materials etc, David was amazing, gave great advise & product knowledge was spot on. He advised me to swap some products that the builder had listed to better materials to suit my needs & kept the price within my budget. Ended up spending way over an hour with me & it was no problem to him. Would recommend him to my family & friends.
