Important
Gym is very spacious, clean and neat!
Yet while this could be a personal issue but phone network is pretty bad in the gym’s area and connecting to the wifi is almost impossible from outside the premises which makes me call for the reception every time im at the gym.
I suggest you modify the qr code readers to read the qr even if the phone is not connected to the internet.

If you have not tried this yet, please be advised, we have been made aware by our development team that reducing animations in the device settings has resolved this issue for some members. This will be under accessibility, vision enhancements and then reduce animations. If this still doesn’t sort it for you, please contact our team at the Contact Centre by raising a ticket through our website. We will be more than happy to look into this further for you, as the app needs to be live when scanning to ensure the validity of use.

Stagnant Sauna
Having reported the sauna previously in October it still hasn’t been resolved a few of the regular lads who have been training at the gym for a long time have left and moved to One gym in Ryhope , after getting sick off the stagnant water of the sauna.
If you have no intention of fixing the floor maybe get the staff to clean it out 4 times a day so it’s dry.

Gym experience
I have been training at JD gym for some time now, good place to train, I do think it could do with a bit more variety of machines.
One thing that does stand out tho is one of their lovely cleaners Shelby, to the point you can always tell when she's been on days off as the gym is awful. I have never known such a high standard cleaner, dumbbells always put back neatly and in order. All floor area hoovered and moped leaving a fresh clean smell. The tin, the stairs, machines you name it it's all been cleaned.
The bathroom and sauna 10/10 always, again when shelby is in. There is no smell or sticky floors in the sauna, the benches are always kept clean and wiped down, the toilets are always full with toilet paper and the soap machines are always full. I could go on.
She is super friendly and always there to lend a helping hand. She is a credit to that gym 😊

Cleaning staff in Jd gym Sunderland
I been going to jd gym Sunderland for about 5 years, and I would never leave this gym. The gym is big, friendly staff and very clean. The cleaning staff are amazing especially Shelby. She gives 110 per cent and always happy and smiley ☺️ no matter what. X

Great clean environment
Great clean environment with lovely helping staff. My only suggestion would be to bring some 2.5 kg plates because they are really important.

All great so far, re-joining was simple and easy. Attended two classes over the weekend, was made very welcome by Stacey, our instructor. Classes were great.

Great gym. Levi Brown PT
I've been a member of J D Gyms Sunderland since they took over from Xercise4less. It's a massive gym set over two floors and has all the equipment you could ever need/want.
However, what makes the place really special is every member of staff. The manager, Jonny, is great. I'm in the gym most mornings and he'll always pass the time of day with me as well as be on hand to answer any queries I might have.
A special mention must go to my personal trainer Levi Brown. I'm not the youngest or healthiest person in the gym by any means but since I started using Levi last October, I've learned so much from him. His knowledge of health/fitness/anatomy is incredible and he can use this to give bespoke training sessions which have really helped me along the way to achieving my fitness goals.
An all round great gym 😃

I have been having PT sessions with Levi Brown, and I've noticed a real difference since. He doesn't just recycle workouts, they are personalised to what I'm looking to achieve. He pushes me to get the most out of each exercise, but in a way that makes feel comfortable and capable. He explains things in a way I can understand, and always happy to answer questions I have. In all honesty, he's a fab PT and wouldn't go anywhere else. Plus, my calves have really popped since doing leg days with him!

Great Fitness classes
I joined the sunderland jd gym around 3 weeks ago, I don't really use the gym machines much as I joined to try the classes which is where I met jenny step, she is amazing she is the reason I have continued to keep going.

Gym virgin
It was my first time using a gym the staff were super helpful taking into account my ailments. The customer’s were very helpful too.
I was very nervous but the young man ( member of staff) who talked me through everything soon put me at ease. Can't wait to try some classes and go back

Equipment
There’s a good amount of each cardio machine meaning at the times I have visited I haven’t had to wait for anything. I haven’t used the weights area yet.
The changing rooms look clean as do the toilets.
I would like it if there was cleaning supplies to wipe down machines before and after use

My return to JD Gym in over 5 years
My return to a membership in JD gym as a member first time in over 5 years. Post Covid, last 3 years, I had a multi core membership at nearby PureGym. While the Gateshead/Newcastle gyms were good, last 6 months local Sunderland PureGym went downhill with no atmosphere and very dirty changing rooms. Switched to local JD gym, cheaper and nearer. Now it is 24 hours which it wasn't 5 years ago. As always loved the equipments, boxing bag, and sauna the two things PureGym don't have ever. Changing rooms were far cleaner in JD even on a Sunday afternoon. Loved the atmosphere
