Honest Review of JD Gyms Middleton – Very Disappointing Experience

Hi everyone,

This is not a joke or an attempt to discredit anyone, but my honest experience and review of JD Gyms Middleton.

Unfortunately, I have found the customer service from some of the staff to be extremely rude, unwelcoming and, in my experience, intimidating.

My first experience happened when I had already been in the gym for around two hours during very hot weather. I was wearing Crocs, and a member of staff approached me and told me that I had to leave because I was wearing them. I explained that I was comfortable exercising in them and that the weather was extremely hot, but I was still told, quite rudely, to leave the gym.

What made the situation more frustrating was that I had already been exercising for more than two hours without anyone raising the issue with me. When I questioned why I was only being approached then, I was simply told, “That’s not my problem. I see you now, so you have to leave.” I left without causing any further issue.

My second experience was ultimately what made me decide to cancel my membership.

I visited the gym with my girlfriend, who is also a JD Gyms member but belongs to another branch. I wanted to work out with her and show her how to use some of the equipment. However, the manager, K, told me that “not under my watch” would he allow her into the gym because she was a member of another JD Gyms branch.

I explained that she was a genuine JD Gyms member and that I simply wanted to help her learn how to use the equipment, but I was still asked to leave.

Regardless of the gym’s policies regarding members from other branches, I believe there are respectful and professional ways to communicate such rules to customers. Unfortunately, my experiences at JD Gyms Middleton left me feeling very unwelcome.

I have therefore decided to cancel my membership.

I also feel that the gym could improve in other areas, including equipment availability, cleanliness and facilities. For example, there is no sauna, and I have found the availability of cleaning wipes/sheets for equipment to be inadequate. In a gym environment, hygiene should be a very important priority.

In conclusion, I sincerely hope JD Gyms Middleton improves its customer service and the overall experience for its members.

And honestly, Middleton could really do with more competition in the local gym market. I would welcome gyms such as PureGym, The Gym Group or Anytime Fitness opening nearby. Competition would give local residents more choice and hopefully encourage gyms to provide better facilities and customer service and also make access to the gym more easy not one time access and when you out of the gym for emergency you have to wait for staff for 30mins pressing bottom without immediate answer.

This is simply my personal experience and honest review. I hope the management takes the feedback constructively.

I was a bit of a skeptic signing up as I’ve been a member of a fair few gyms down the years and they always looks a bit tatty and sad.

This gym is a breath of fresh air. Firstly it’s absolutely massive and has A LOT of equipment. Everyone seems courteous, there’s no meathead grunting etc. It’s clean, the equipment is well maintained and there are a fair number of 10/10’s walking about. What’s not to like 😂

Not enough equipment in the women’s section.

This week marks my 4th year coming here and I honestly can't say enough good things about it. In the past week, I've celebrated my university graduation and the staff, in particular Brandon Richards and Carlos, have been some of the most supportive people in here. Whenever I've been unsure of my progress or my ability to juggle life with studies, they've always had faith in my ability and weren't afraid to vocalise that support.

The gym is really well organised , lors of machines and room to use and is very flexible to work round my routines and is full of a kind respectable community

Very spacious and half all the equipment I need even for the weird workout

A staff was extremely rude to me because I wore sliders and I told him I’ll go get changed as I was in the middle of a set but I got dragged up and I just left

Activity, help, good customer service, fast helpful

Very good weights and fitness equipment. But a shame jd didn’t keep the boxing ring and mma cage left over from the previous owners. Could use more boxing equipment in the studio. But still very good gym for little money.

The gym has two 45-degree leg press sledges, but I can't use them because I'm not strong enough yet. There's only one machine-style leg press, and it's always taken. It's a large gym with plenty of space, so I don't understand why they don't just get another one. That machine is constantly in use — they really need a second one.

The Managers and staff are fabulous so helpful. Always happy to help and give advice 😊 They've looked after my lost valuable property on more than one occasion also

Had the pleasure of working with Brandon Bfit as a personal trainer for over 12 months
He absolutely changed my life got me over my gym fears and educated me about things I never even imagined
Completely changed my relationship with food and helped me mentally as well as physically
Got me down from 150kg to 98kg in just over a year

Honestly saved my life and couldn’t recommend him enough 10/10 trainer and an even better person

I have been using this gym for over two years and I found that the staff’s behaviour is best as they are so much friendly and they always have smile on their face and very warm and welcoming attitude in their behaviour. Special thanks to its staff members Steve, Brandon (s), Venus, Dean, Jack and Will. Apologies if I forgot to mention any of the staff members. Staff is really helpful and friendly and going to this gym makes me feel fresh and complete stress free and achieving the target of a good physique for sure. Lots of equipment and space to work out. Thank you JD gym, you are the best. Thank you 🙏

When this site going get some C2 bikes? As bikes here are poor

Paid £10 for a month , pass stopped working after 4 days carnt email an inquiry without a reference number we don’t have , no emails off them to explain why
