Great start to my fitness journey
Just had my first session at JD Gym Darlington and it set the bar high. Solid workout, friendly faces all round, and a really supportive environment. It’s not always easy walking into a new gym, but the team and community here made it effortless. Excited for session two.

I am 57 and just returning to your Gym as the staff are great and its close to home.
I am however, disappointed at the classes in that you don't do a legs bums and tums class. A decent Yoga class or pilates.
Each class seems to be thumping music and incredibly fast paced.
I walked out the Yoga class, as again thumping music, air conditioning blasting, it was 12 degrees outside. It should be dim lit, warm and calm!!
Parking is a joke. Why is there no rear door?
The free weights area is tiny, me and my friend like to do squats, bicep curls etc in front of the mirror and if two or more other women are there its cramped.
We do walk/jog on the treadmills and there are plenty of those and the music level is just right.
I won't let this put me off attending but you are totally ignoring an older demographic. Alot of us have aches and pains from years of raving in our twenties! We are not boring old fogies, we just have to take care a bit more.
I go on line and look at free weight exercises to tone our 50+bodies and would love it if this was a class, without over fast banging music that just gives me anxiety. And the instructor is yelling!
Somebody without a business head in your company is missing a trick!

I originally came back to JD gym with intention to just get a day pass to train alongside my friend but the manager told me of a deal they had on at the time of £10 for the first month so I decided to take her up on this deal and she was very helpful with signing me back up. Only issue I have which is why I originally left is they need to get some heavier dumbbells 50kg+

Excellent gym for the relatively cheap membership fee. It can get busy at peak times, though I’ve never known it get to the point where no relevant equipment was available. Just be aware that there is a delay on the door mechanisms to prevent people sharing QR codes to enter, so if you leave to return to your car when the gym is unmanned (between 8pm and 6am I believe) you won’t be able to re-enter for 10-15 minutes.

It’s a great environment but as a newbie to using this gym or any for that matter,I was expecting to have some sort of introduction to the equipment and how to use it. I was not at any point spoken to by anyone there as to what I was wanting to achieve.

Gym is freezing cold. To a point where I think it is unsafe. Air con blasting in winter- makes no sense
