We had a gift of a five whisky tasting. Mike, the owner, is a brilliant host. He is very knowledgeable, and gives a lot of advice on the tasting, and how to enjoy your whisky. It was very well paced, really enjoyable. Great selection of whiskies available for purchase. Highly recommended!

Great local supplier for whisky and events
Strong selection including loads of Indy bottlings. Arrange some great tastings and the whisky bar opening once a month is a nice little option to sample some great drams in a cracking little bar. Loyalty programme is also a good addition with decent rewards against purchases. Brilliant to have this on the doorstep.

Tone and integrity matter.
I liked this shop. The selection was good. What I didn't like? That they made light of addiction and the struggles of sobriety. Referencing Bill Wilson, co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous and his reported final requests for whisky might have been intended as trivia, but the tone came across as flippant and insensitive. Addiction isn't a punchline, it's a lived experience for many, including the whisky community, this shop's customers!
When values are sidelined for cheap shock or engagement, it diminishes the experience for everyone. They've missed the mark, and as someone who believes in responsible communication around alcohol and is the son of an alcoholic, I expected better from this shop, given that they are ambassadors for scotch whisky.
The shop may stock a good range, but tone and integrity matter just as much as selection. Here's hoping this was a misstep, not a mindset.

Thank you for your review and comments.
We completely agree that alcoholism is not a laughing matter. We do promote responsible drinking and even run courses that high the dangers of excessive drinking and ways to promote responsible drinking.
With that said, we also feel that it is important to celebrate life’s ironies. There’s no getting away from the fact that Bill Wilsons request for whisky is ironic given all his fantastic work with the AA.
Our intention was not to be insensitive to Bills plight, but more to highlight his story and hopefully have our customers’ interest piqued. We hoped that they would then look more into his life, struggles and ultimate successes.
We did this in what we felt was a fun way to attract our customers attention. As you can imagine, the majority of our customers are whisky drinkers and I felt the post was aimed at them correctly.
I apologise that you were offended by the nature of the post, it was not my intention at all. I think a one star review is unjust, given our exceptional reputation on service, but I understand your reason.
It is certainly not in our culture to promote irresponsible drinking, it is quite the opposite in fact – we promote a drink less, drink better mantra.

The Gin Tasting Experience was fantastic—expertly guided, informative, and a whole lot of fun! The passion and knowledge of the team made it even more enjoyable. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or just starting your gin journey, this is an experience not to be missed. Highly recommend. Look forward to the next one!

Dad's 70th birthday
For Dad's 70th birthday, we wanted to give him something unique, so we booked a whisky tasting in January. It exceeded our expectations in every way! The host shared fascinating insights into the history of whisky and presented everything in a way that was engaging, even for those of us who don't typically drink whisky. Would definitely recommend.
