I turned to TurboTax years ago, probably like 10 or 12 years back, and after getting used to it after a couple of years I found it very easy to use. I’ve used it on Windows, then iOS on my iPad. But, after this year I’ll never use it again. The iOS app kept putting me into eternal loops, wouldn’t allow me past some pages unless I bought something, just doing weird things.
Over the years I wound up with two accounts and this year, after completing about half my return, TurboTax told me I was using an account I didn’t use last year. Was this going to be a problem? I didn’t know, I knew it was an account I had used many times before. I decided to finish and submit it to the IRS. When I did that it was rejected by the IRS because of an issue with my spouses AGI not matching on last years return.
Thinking the problem was because I used two different accounts I should do my return using the same account I used last year, so I went through the process all over again snd filed. My returns, federal and state were accepted. All good? Not really. TurboTax charges for each filing. They consider the transaction completed when the return is filed. I filed my return twice. Even though it was the same return, and the first filing was rejected, I had to pay for both. Not eligible for a refund was the verdict on my appeal.

I used this for years until last year when I had my first problem and had to call customer service for help and got two back to back ghetto girls with terrible attitudes and got no help at all. This year I had to go to a professional for help with my taxes and somehow lost last years return so I needed to login and get it but it's impossible. I have a new phone and the password wasn't saved on my computer either. I have tried over and over to use the alternate login process and no matter how many times the code gets sent to my new phone number it just says "hmm, that didn't work" and that's it, nothing works. I go to their website so I can contact them for help and they literally don't have a single option to contact them so I am locked out forever. Unprofessional garbage, after years of using this site I will never use it again and apparently won't be using my tax info from last year either.
Unbelievably bad customer service
Today I spent 2 hours on the phone with 3 very rude agents who cut me off repeatedly, wouldn’t listen to me, spoke over me while talking, laughed at my frustration and hung up on me. All of them told me that they couldn’t help because I don’t have “audit defence” but I do and I showed them on my account through screen share. None of them knew what they were doing and they were ALL very hard to understand. I’m never using TurboTax or intuit again after this!
Update I called today to submit a complaint. The representative again didn’t know what she was doing and said that my complaint has been filed and that I’ll hear from them when it was complete. I asked when and she said there’s no way to tell. As soon as I was off the 38 minute call with her saying that she was just waiting for the complaint to be updated and to hear from them, just to get off the phone and receive email immediately that my case was closed. No contact with me at all before closing it!!
The Old BAIT and SWITCH with NO NOTICE $49 > $79 instantly
Well I have been using this product for years but this could be my LAST. BAIT and SWITCH! They said $49 to file. When I completed it and let it wait until April they charged me $79 with NO EXPLANATION. AI said maybe you used other services? like State tax? NO Florida has no state tax. I called an agent and she tranfered me supposedly to a supervisor. The AI voice said do you want to pay for tax help? I said 'NO' and it said GOOD BYE! Goodbye to you TurboTax. I will find a better service next year!
I’ve been using Turbo tax for years
I’ve been using Turbo tax for years. Seems very easy as they take you through the process step by step. The last two years I have been flagged by the IRS and I don’t understand why and I don’t get answers from the IRS or Turbo tax. Both years I have received a letter from the IRS questioning my return and holding up my return so far this year by 41 days and counting? Still no answers and no refund? My wife and I file together and we are both retired so our return shouldn’t be that complicated. You would think if there was an issue, Turbo tax would flag the return before sending it to the IRS. Doubtful we will use Turbo tax again.

I used turbo tax to prepare my 2025 simple tax. I started with the free version but due to interest claimed over $1500 I was upgraded to the next payable version, then again I had to upgrade for another reason. Still simple form. I kept thinking I have gone this far let’s finish.Now I have to pay almost $200 for a simple tax prep. What a rip!
You can trust Turbo Tax!
I have used Turbo Tax for several years and each time I am impressed with the ease of this software. Since I was so familiar with Turbo Tax I rushed too much this year and as a result had some issues, but with the help of Raven, I got back on track. Moral: Don't rush. You can trust Turbo Tax!
Never again TurboTax
After years of loyalty to TurboTax, this will be my last year using their service — and it’s because of the same issue I’ve experienced for the past three years. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.
Every single year, like clockwork, the emails and text messages start rolling in saying it’s time to file and that TurboTax is “ready.” This year, once again, I selected the option to have my 2025 tax refund directly deposited into Credit Karma — a bank owned by TurboTax’s parent company. It clearly stated that if you chose this option, you would receive an advance on your refund.
My medical treatment is extremely expensive. Chemotherapy is not cheap, and the bills are piling up. I genuinely needed that advance.
Here we are on February 23. I was accepted on February 1. The Internal Revenue Service typically processes returns within 21 days. Yet once again, TurboTax and Credit Karma failed to deliver. Not only did I not receive an advance, but they had me calling back and forth between them while each blamed the other. No one seemed to know what they were doing. The only thing they managed to accomplish was wasting hours of my time on the phone.
To make matters worse, I usually pay $169 for their service. This year, they had the audacity to charge me $219.
At this point, I want a full refund. I was misled, and when I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told none were available. The lack of accountability, transparency, and basic customer service is staggering.
I am beyond disappointed.

TurboTax online is a trap. You will regret the decision to begin the online return. It will permanently lock you into that decision, disabling any hope of changing your mind and choosing the download version.
Why would you want to change your mind? Because the online version just sucks in too many ways to even enumerate. If you're brave, or feeling lucky, just try it and find out for yourself.

HEADS UP -$4,000 loan was not transparent
HEADS UP -if you are choosing to pay for their services based off the "up to $4,000" advance loan -they are not being fully transparent with this loan! It didn't even give me a chance to do the loan before it finished my taxes and send it through! I'm so angry because that's why I chose to pay for their services. I did the research to see if I would be likely approved and although I hit every mark, it didn't even get mentioned as I was filing. I don't need to use them because I have a simple return and can file my own. But recently lost my employment and could've used the loan or went with H&R. I have never been turned down for one of these and I have good credit so In the event I got "denied" There was NO transparent place mentioning the loan or giving me the option for it, before completing them. And now that they are filed and IRS has accepted there is nothing they can do.
High cost and drama!
This used to be a reputable, easy, clean way to file taxes. Not anymore! First, I signed up for the $49 dollar plan for a little added protection. I ended up with a $217 dollar total bill! It then took me 6 hours to get my simple standard deduction taxes files due to multiple complications and glitches. They then sold my information and I am being spammed to death. Definitely not worth the cost and drama.

Well as I said yesterday everyone beware of turbotax. I'm on day two now and they're charging me even more than they did yesterday. I just got an email from them they talked on all kinds of stuff after they already submitted my taxes which I never gave them permission to do because I was not finished so now instead of free taxes it's over $100 so be very careful. I suggest you go somewhere else to do your taxes this site is no longer fair and trustworthy. And it's a shame because I've been using TurboTax for years never had this much trouble and now they're just rip off just like everybody else. Unless you don't need your money don't do your taxes here

Looking to submit a RC4288 form for interest relief. I got re-assessed for 2023 with a 'amount owing.' For that year I paid Turbo Tax to do my taxes for me. They have a 100% accuracy guarantee, so I have tried to re-claim these funds from them to no avail, as they say 'I had to check their work,' which is ridiculous.. why did I pay them in the first place? Therefore I am asking for interest to be waived.. I will do my 2024 taxes with a company other than Turbo Tax and do a plus minus on the re-assessment from there. Thanks.

I pray that this company goes out of business so that more consumers like me don't have their time and/or money wasted. TurboTax is so incompetent that they don't know what a Schedule C is or how to report foreign income. Simply unbelievable. They couldn't do my taxes last night and after being on hold for 46 minutes, I told the guy that he either had to find somebody who could file the return or I would have to hire somebody else. I received an email from Turbo Tax today saying, "You decided that now is not the time to file your taxes so we're closing your file." NO! I didn't decide NOT to file, TURBO TAX DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO FILE!!!
I got hold of H&R Block and they knew what was going on and filed my taxes FOR LESS MONEY than TurboTax wanted. That beats all. TurboTax can't file a return but they want a small fortune to attempt to do so, I guess.
But let me make this crystal clear: Money is not the issue. Incompetence is. The person manning the Help Desk at Turbo Tax didn't know the basics and COULDN'T FIND ANYBODY who knew the basics. So they turned my business away.
Then it gets worse. I contacted Turbo Tax via chat this morning to report this and the customer service person there didn't care. She flat out said, "have a nice day" and disconnected the chat. So I phoned TurboTax and spoke to somebody in person and at least that person listened.
I have some back taxes which need to be filed and I have future taxes coming up and all of this is thousands of dollars in fees that Turbo Tax sent sailing out the door because they don't have anybody at their Help Desk or anywhere in the company that knows the basics of tax filing.
Other Income, Foreign Income, Donations, all kinds of things are very common but not to TurboTax. They are the epitome of what incompetence is. And the arrogant "screw you" attitude on top of it is the cherry on the sundae. This is a horrible company to try to do business with. I hope they go out of business.

Completing my taxes using this website went well. The IRS never got my e-file. TurboTax never sent my e-file to IRS. Do not trust any of these websites they are over ranned by scammers and hackers. Use the IRS.gov site instead.
