The HP smart app does not even deserve a 1 star rating, but you have to tick just one star! Absolute pile of rubbish, fairly straight forward to setup but often go print something and nothing happens... See more

The worst Printing Software of my life
The worst desktop - cloud combination application i've ever tried, the password never remebered, minutes of waiting to login from one service to another and finally NOTHING GETS PRINTED !!!! i use it with ENVY 6420 and Instant Ink subscription paid for the second year 3,49€ now 4,99€ / month only one cartridge sent. But still the worst experience is that any time you try to print you must first start HP SMART check that your printer is located and then start printing and if you are lucky you may get your prit out. Horrible experience. Using i7 , 16GB/RAM / 1TB SSD and Windows 11 Pro and an excellent WiFi.
As others have said
As others have said, totally useless. Printer never connects, app is horrid
Worst App Ever Means Can't Use Printer
If I could give it negative stars I would. Printer won't print, app tells me there's an error, tells me to sign in to the app THAT I HAD TO BE SIGNED INTO IN ORDER TO HAVE IT TELL ME THERE IS AN ERROR. I know there is an error, that's why I went to the app, which seems unable to tell me what the problem is and is very confused not only about whether I'm signed in, but also about whether the printer is connected to the internet. The Printer Information page it printed out 3 times (so clearly the printer works mechanically just fine) says "The printer is connected to the WiFi network... Signal strength is very good... This printer is not connected to the Internet". Huh??? If I could take this back for a refund I would do so. I will never have an HP printer ever again. Bought it last fall and have been unable to use it at all since December. Funny thing - it started to go belly up the same day I cancelled the automatic ink service. Hmmmm.
Never works
Never works, printer won't connect to wifi through the app. Customer service says its my internet issue and closed the ticket.
Useless
UTTERLY USELESS
THE HP SMART APP AND THE ABSOLUTELY HOPELESS AND UTTERLY USELESS HP ENVY 6032E IS THE MOST SHOCKING PRINTER I HAVE EVER OWNED. IT IS ALWAYS OFFLINE DESPITE THE APP SAYING READY AND SHOWING INK LEVELS. I HAVE TRIED EVERY SETTING, CARRIED OUT SO MANY RESETS I HAVE LOST COUNT. LOOKING AT THE COMMENTS ON THE HP WEBSITE, I AM NOT ALONE AND HP LITERALLY DON’T GIVE A DAMN.
HP Smart should be renamed HP Stupid…
HP Smart should be renamed HP Stupid and Useless. With my old printer I could check the print queue - and easily view and cancel/delete print jobs. I could also scan simply and easily and combine files. HP Smart has taken me back 10 years in technology. It's useless.
love my HP Smart
So far, I've had my HP printer for two months. Have had a pair of ink cartridges delivered free. Already had to replace the black. Got the free paper thingy, but opted out on that since now have an overabundance of printer paper. The chat support is awesome. For those of you who are upset using 'wi-fi' for your printer, there is a connection on the printer where you can connect it direct to your computer.
As for me, I love the HP Smart app. Has everything I need right there.....and it controls my printing. So why not just be patient and be smart.
Is HP totally ignorant about customer experience?
Someone should get fired.
The app has the worst UX I've ever seen, its plottered with functions no one uses and going through the 15 minute installation, being asked to register 10 times over, every single time with an "are u sure about this" - its like you want me to hate HP forever. Going through this trauma has led me to never ever supporting buying HP again. And I am in charge of IT purchases at my company.
Software refuses to connect
Software refuses to connect. My printer will be listed as "Online" and connected to the same wifi as my computer but will immediately be reset to "offline" when the printer is selected. Occasionally this process will work after the third or fourth time of hard resetting the printer and restarting the computer but there is no rhyme or reason to when it decides to work.
Every single time i have to print on my…
Every single time i have to print on my new HP Printer, i have to print through the HP-Smart app. I cannot go into Word or Excel and then just find the printer. HP-Smart has to be open for it to recognize the printer. Every single time i open HP-Smart app anew, there is some kind of problem. The app won't open, the app freezes and i then have to uninstall the app, and install the app. I waste around 30 min everytime i just want to print a single paper for private use. Its so tedious and i will never buy a HP-Printer again, i wouldn't even send a HP-Printer as a gift to my worst enemy. Its the worst experience in printing history.
HP Dumb
This app has never worked. Ever since I got the printer it has been a battle to get it to do anything. A simple attempt to print will result in an error message of "printer offline". No it isn't! Your app just doesn't work. Everything that should be simple is complex and frustrating. Will not buy HP again because of this.
Just the worst
Every time I needed to connect my printer, print something, scan something it didn't work. And then every single time I tried to contact someone to sort out a printer I had try get through a bot that didn't understand the question. HP instant ink is cheap enough that you could not notice it, like 2.99 a month, but they never once sent me ink automatically. The time I tried to order ink it took about 4 weeks to actually send it out. And now I've finally cancelled it, it says I need a subscription. Awful company. Ruined HP's reputation in my eyes. I genuienly waste about half an hour every time I wanted to print something, hours over time. I'm finally gonna just get rid of my HP printer and start again.
Pure ineptitude
On principle, they claim to save one money by enrolling in a “flexible plan” per month. Here’s the catch: you go over a certain amount of pages (not ink usage but page count), then you are then charged extra for every page.
Another problem: they give you a prepaid envelope to return the empty cartridges.
Ok, I did that.
No response for three months.
Error message saying that a cartridge needed to be installed to print.
Well, this is really a snafu. The app senses when the printer needs new ink.
And I returned all the empty cartridges.
I also never received any new ink in the mail, while
I kept being billed a monthly charge.
Pure nonsensical garbage.
The phone service is the usual robotic spiel where the person reiterates like a parrot without listening to my needs.
Total excrement in terms of customer service.
Hp stands for huge poop.
I can't believe the incompetence
I can't believe the incompetence. Because my credit card info needed updated, I called HP to make sure to update it correctly. They were not able to update my payment information, REALLY! Instead I patiently tried to update this at least 6-8 times, my credit card got locked, again, REALLY! I was on the phone with them for 1 1/2 hours to update payment information. Needless to say, I'm cancelling my service.
I've just scanned 50 pages and the app…
I've just scanned 50 pages and the app crashed... Do I need to say more?
HPsmart
HPsmart - Instant Ink Service
The price has been raised by 50%. I thought I'd cancel. It seems as soon as I cancel the ink cartridges in my printing stop working. Despite paying months of subscriptions. I would have to then purchase alternative HP cartridges from a store. Which is a waste of resources and seems pretty petty on the part of HP.
worse company ever
Increased pricing with 30 % for no reason, impossible to speak to anyone and generally the worse service ever. No wonder it has the lowest score of any company ever on this site! HP should be ashamed!
So many one stars reviews
Everything the other one star reviews say about this app resonates with me.. then 3 months in to an instant ink contract a 20% price increase with no justification. If you’re buying a printer don’t buy HP.
HP is clueless to the needs of their core demographic.
The app and HPs decision to remove the USB ports and physical touchscreen on some models is the most short sighted, business blind move ever. Even skilled IT persons finds it difficult and clumsy to integrate into their networks or even stand alone facilities.
The #1 reason I will never purchase…
The #1 reason I will never purchase another HP printer is this app and the forced account to use a bloody printer. The amount of times that work was disrupted because the app decided to not load, or log me out yet again, or any stupidity defies all logic. You'd think whoever made this "smart" creation was trying to make HP stock drop.
Don't even try to contact their "support" either. You'll get nowhere.
Glad I found a spot to post a review, since HP also doesn't seem to offer that.
