Our experience with Homeppl has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
My husband is self-employed. This was clearly explained from the outset, and all requested documentation was submitted in line with Homeppl’s requirements. Despite this, we were later informed that his business bank account could not be accepted — a point that should have been clarified at the start of the process.
To resolve this, his accountant provided the alternative proof of income explicitly requested by Homeppl. However, this documentation was still rejected without a clear or reasonable explanation.
Rather than working constructively to complete the reference, Homeppl proceeded to cancel the application entirely, forcing us to restart the referencing process from the beginning. When the letting agent attempted to escalate the matter and requested that the case be reopened, Homeppl refused.
As a direct result of these actions, we are now at risk of losing the property we were in the process of renting.
Based on our experience, I would strongly advise landlords and estate agents to carefully reconsider using Homeppl. The service demonstrates a lack of consistency, poor communication, and limited understanding of self-employed applicants.
Terrible service. The staff have virtually no knowledge of real estate. Because of this company, my move-in process did not go smoothly at all, which was extremely disappointing. If a real estate agency uses this company, I strongly recommend not signing a contract with that agency.

Great streamlined service for referencing, although portal doesn't leave much room for error.

Crap, useless, instead of contacting me for information they did not initially ask me for they just cancelled my application, I then had to start the process again filled out the entire form and then they kept asking for information that I had already provided, if my building uses them again I’ll walk away

Be nice to be able to have a real person in the chat facility instead of AI. 15 minutes going around in circles I gave up and will now not bother with my considered rent. Totally flawed system - Also please be aware that they DO NOT ACCEPT PAYLIPS as proof of income !!!!! Just when you think it cant get any more ridiculous

I’m relocating to a new city after completing an MA and career change, with sufficient savings to meet affordability. These are held in a Hargreaves Lansdown account and are in a mix of funds and easily accessible. HomePpl refused to accept the official statement I downloaded from HL’s site, insisting it had to be verified by a chartered accountant. Who has a chartered accountant just to confirm their savings? They briefly agreed to accept bank statements showing transfers between accounts, I sent them 3 months statements didn’t hear anything from them until the place I want to move chased them and they said they couldn’t in fact accept bank statements and reverted back to the same demand for a chartered accountant. The whole process felt inflexible, inconsistent, and based on unreasonable requirements, made worse by the fact you can’t speak to anyone directly. It’s a pretty normal rational decision to keep my savings in a portfolio I don’t understand why they couldn’t accept this as evidence of affordability
