Booking holiday with Saga was easy and straightforward.

I spoke to Michaela to book a holiday and she was so helpful. I didn't feel rushed and she made the experience friendly.

A huge thank you to Lisa who dealt with my change/cancellation request with total professionalism and, more importantly, great kindness and patience. She is a credit to SAGA, a really positive example of customer care.

We stayed at the Best Triton Hotel in Benamadena
The Hotel looked very nice our room was nice unfortunately we were on the 9th floor and for three days of our 14 day stay only one of the two lifts was working and one day there was no water in our room also we was above the Irish bars and they were shouting till at least 3am in the morning so not much sleep
The Hotel had 4 pools and one rooftop pool not one was for adults only they were full of young children with footballs and inflatables so no swimming which I love we had to go for a swim in the sea
We went all inclusive trying to get a drink was very hard work at meal times it was fine
There was a child brought a scooter down at evening meal and another brought a football I also thought there was a dress code some of the guest looked like they had just come from the pool or beach I expected better
The evening entertainment left a lot to be desired also it was full of young children running around all night not what we expected from a Saga holiday
The Taxi from home to the airport and airport to the hotel were fabulous but the two on return I would sooner have booked my own we felt the hotel was understaffed we had trouble trying to find a clean table at lunch time only for a waiter to come and wipe the bits off the table onto the floor kids poking there fingers in the food overall not the best holiday at least the weather was good
Maybe my first and last Saga holiday

Grand Designs of Portugal.
Just because the itinerary mentions your stays will be in luxury Pousadas don’t expect to have a luxury room or fine dining. The standard of rooms we experienced were below that of medium priced hotels. Deeply disappointed by the holiday and Saga’s response to my complaint. Terrible customer service.

Following my previous review, it was suggested that I contact Customer service to see if they could help further. This morning I was contacted by a young lady (Carolina), saying how sorry they were about the events that lead up to cancellation, and who could have been a robot, reiterating their cancellation policy. Maybe if their cancellation policy was highlighted, ( instead of being contained within their very many pages of terms and conditions) at the time of booking, ie if cancelled with 28 days of their holiday date, regardless of a Medical Emergency, Saga would only refund 10% of their fully paid holiday, I wonder how many of their (valued?) Seniors would book?
Graham provided a professional but friendly experience for my holiday booking. It was so easy to understand him as his voice was very clear.

If there was a 0 response they would have it! My husband was in hospital for 6 days, having had a heart attack and various procedures, stress or what? We had 28 days to go before a booked holiday with Saga and they have charged us 90% cancellation fee on a holiday that was nearly £4000, more stress! We thought Saga was a company that catered for the elderly and whilst knowing a cancellation fee may be due, 90% does seem extreme. Who can predict a heart attack? so be aware no quarter given by Saga.

I phoned Saga to change a booking from one tour to a completely different one. I feared there might be difficulties, but in fact the advisor (I didn’t get his name) was incredibly helpful and efficient, even tbough the line kept delaying responses.

The tour itinerary was brilliant. So many famous and fascinating places to visit that you'd only heard about on TV or the movies. Sadly our enjoyment was impeded by our inexperienced tour manager and driver. They did successfully manage to get us from the beginning of the tour to the end but everything in between was pretty unsatisfactory. Unusual for Saga.
They were clearly not familiar with our route as we got lost at least three times trying to find hotels which wasted about three hours overall. Plus on arrival in LAX the coach was missing and took an hour and a half to turn up. We were left to our own devices for that time with no confirmation what was going on or updates. The tour manager seemed to have little idea what people wanted from such a tour or what information would help them. Every morning we were treated to meandering 35-45 minute Wikipedia histories of the rough area we were travelling through which were interminable, irrelevant and boring. There was no connection with the 'now'. They never pointed out anything we passed or made any insightful and relevant comments. The manager did not seek to develop relationships with any of the 31 travellers - although the driver David G was excellent in that regard. The manager kept each day's plans to themselves and left us in the dark as to where and when we would be stopping and what facilities would be available when we got there. The last day's tour of LA was a disaster. They never mentioned the Hollywood sign which some of us saw at a distance early in the tour but we never went anywhere near it and nobody got a chance to get a photo of it. Very disappointing for many on the coach as that was exactly what they went to LA to see. It was like going to London and never seeing Big Ben or even hearing it mentioned. The fabled visit to Manhattan Beach never materialised. Also at one point the bus stopped and the manager and driver discussed for 20 minutes about where to go next. Eventually they decided on a shopping mall. Fortunately a passenger challenged this and said they thought we were going to Santa Monica for lunch so we went there.
What we didn't know was only two minutes walk away was the immensely famous Rodeo Drive which many folk wanted to visit but had to be satisfied with a brief glimpse as we drove by. When it would have been so easy to walk over and see it during the wasted 20 minute stop. The manager kept a cool distance between themselves and the group and rarely joined in any of the walks round the places we stopped at and never added anything useful information-wise as (we assume) they didn't know anything. As we only had local guides on two mornings that left 15 whole days effectively guideless.
The general feeling on the coach towards the end of the tour was how it might have been enhanced as an experience if led by a friendlier, more informed, upbeat, experience enhancer than the person we were allocated.
As always, the tour manager is the critical part in making a trip enjoyable and successful. We all accept things won't always go right and there is a huge tolerance for that in a group on the whole, but this tour frankly wasn't up to scratch. Disappointing.

We saw and experienced a great deal. From the bus having to reverse in a road tunnel to seeing the expanse of Tokyo from the Skytree. From doing our best to avoid eating Horsemeat to sampling a range of delicious Japanese dishes.

Sarah Nye was an excellent tour manager, also Reiko was a great tour guide.
I enjoyed Japan, the people were lovely and country was fascinating. Watching sumo wrestling live was great, I found it really exciting.
I expected there to be a lot of walking but I didn't expect quite so many steps to all the places we visited. Some places were extremely crowded with many large groups of schoolchildren which made seeing things difficult.
The hotels and coaches were all very good quality, the staff were very helpful and the coaches were always on time.
The booking process was simple and the chauffeur service from the house was excellent and much appreciated.

Just booked with Lisa for India's Golden Triangle Escorted tour. I usually book online but had a couple of questions and wanted to speak to someone directly. How nice it was to do that, Lisa was patient, helpful, informative and made it so easy to do! I did a bit of chopping and changing but she couldn't have been nicer and so much better than online bots etc. Thank You Lisa!

A note of thanks to Lisa at Saga for helping me book a Christmas holiday in the UK when all appeared to be fully taken.
