Cars with hidden mileage issues

Bought a Passat via HeyCar in 2022 from an Edinburgh dealer Motorchoice. Precisely around 20-Apr-2022.
The car itself is all ok, 3 years on trying to sell it this month. Motorway did a historical mileage search and found big discrepancy.
Not sure what kind of checks HeyCar does on car saying their “HPI” checks are all clear. I am stuck with working with DVLA to correct these issue - if that’s even possible. Happy to share registration details if anyone wants to know if this is genuine.
Absolute waste of time , think I relied a little too much on these guys so could be me here proven naive.
Warning for all - do your own thorough checks or best buy approved used only for original dealers.

Heycar in Hull honest customer service

The relates to Heycar in Hull. I'd paid a reservation fee for a car that was still be prepared for sale. Mike called me and explained it needed a new gearbox and it wasn't worth the cost to put one in for how much they were selling it for, so the sale was cancelled. I think it shows integrity that they let me know and didn't sell me it and hope it lasted long enough for it to be out of warranty. Really appreciated them being honest and cancelling the sale instead of ripping me off.

No V5

No V5. Have to pay £25 to get a new V5, and dvla do not recommend buying a car without a V5. Have checked with RAC and car is not write-off, stolen or in debt. Also would not recommend because person I contact is on annual leave : in the past three weeks she’s been off for two of them but not continuously. She comes back, goes off… professional outfit would also have a proper checklist of things you need to be road legal - insurance Mot tax v5. Anyway. Nothing illegal or overly shady, but certainly they fall below the standards which would have people using them again and recommending.

I was scammed

Hi, from this place, when buying a car, be careful, before paying, check the car's miles and services to see if they have been done. With my car, they lied to me about the real miles of the car and told me before giving me the car that the service had been done. If you look at the pictures, you will understand that the car's service was done at 29,232 miles and not 36,000 miles. And the documents say that I bought the car at 29,232 miles, but on the dashboard of my car it says 35,284 miles
I chose this car because it has low miles on the clock and that it has been serviced. And now they lied to me about the miles on the car and I need to get it serviced soon and that will cost me more money.

Heycar teamwork mostly satisfactory

Harkaren was really helpful explaining the process from the sales team from beginning to end also Kelly and Tilly's emails provided reassurance following up!
Delivery of my vehicle was delayed by reported sickness of the driver and was rescheduled twice, finally with another firm!
I was disappointed that standard tyre inflator equipment was not with the car when it arrived!

Overall good value

If you are looking for for a slightly unusual car , a particular colour or spec ,at a good price and there’s nothing local then it’s worth considering an online purchase at Heycar . The price will be very competitive and you wont have to pay delivery charges . Although if you are a natural worrier then maybe not , after all you are buying a car that you haven’t seen and paying for it before it’s delivered . The sales team are very helpful , Petya explained the whole process to me . In my case I paid for the car , Heycar then paid the seller , the car traveled from the seller to the Heycar reception/inspection , the delivery date was fixed and I received the car 3 weeks after the full payment. You can’t expect to receive the same level of service that you’d anticipate from your local garage . You might not get immediate response to your questions, the car won’t be fully valeted, it might not have a brand new mot or service , I think it will be in good condition, mine was and obviously Heycar won’t sell cars that are likely to be rejected or cause problems. I am happy with the price that I paid , the communication with Heycar and the condition of the car . I would use them again .

Great service, but needs a little patience

I was grateful for the option of having free delivery on a car which made my choice a lot greater. The website is easy to navigate and I would recommend the process.

Changing car from ICE to EV with the help from Heycar

When I was looking to replace my Ford EcoSport to a MG4 EV I of course looked at many sites but what caught my attention with Heycar was the cash back. I immediately called them but came with slow voicemail and get speak to anyone which was very annoying.

I then sent an email and got a reply pretty quickly and asked the question to Karan about the cashback and is a gimmick and if not how does it work. Karan answered my questions to satisfaction and I built a good relationship with him.

All went smoothly with Heycar except the delivery guy messed up and called me to he's at the dealership in the morning to deliver my car. This was arranged for the afternoon so I was very annoyed because I had to miss my diabetic appointment.

Anyway after delivery I was mostly pleased and I even dropped the delivery guy to Slough just to get feel of driving and EV for the first time.

Everything else with Heycar was top notch and I received my cashback and V5 two weeks after purchase.

All in all Heycar are superb and will recommend them without hesitation.

Good but couple of caveats

The searching experience was great as were the reps assigned to my sale. Any questions or clarifications via email were replied to within minutes.
It loses two stars because;
1) Based on other reviews as well as my own experience, they really need to take out the 10 day delivery from their confirmation as this was the timeline I was given. It is absolute nonsense. Mine was over a week delayed "due to backlog". It's not so much I NEEDED the car within 10 days, it's more don't make false claims and it also makes you think something is going wrong with order or the car. So yeah, definitely stop setting that expectation.

2) One of their online car buying competitors takes high resolution pictures of all imperfections, big or small (chips, scratches, dents, etc). This is an excellent much needed peace of mind when buying a car you haven't seen. HeyCar could not offer such confidence and when asked they just gave me a copy and paste reply about their garage partners do all the proper checks etc. Nothing about confirming my car won't arrive with a chipped windscreen for example. I didn't go with that competitor btw as they didn't have the car I was after with the specs and mileage I was after. Otherwise I would have preferred them for the peace of mind.

I should note the car did come in good condition to be fair, but yeah it's the unknown during the wait that's not great.

But yeah if you're ok with those two caveats (slow delivery, bit of a roll of dice on condition), I can recommend them. I had the car for over a month now and got the promised payback amount and they did the transfer of ownership after the cooldown period promptly in my case and everything went smoothly.

This was the first time I have bought a…

This was the first time I have bought a car online and was slightly nervous.
The Heycar staff I dealt with. Kenan and Kelly, were very helpful and kept me informed. The car was delivered exactly on time, the driver, Dave, was very friendly and helpful.
The car was very reasonably priced and in excellent condition
Free delivery and cash back were and additional bonus.
I would strongly recommend Heycar

Excellent Service Highly recommend

I was a bit apprehensive about buying a car online, but after speaking with Petya she was very informative and really put my mind at ease. She kept in regular contact, updating me every step.My car was delivered to me and I couldn’t be happier with it. Excellent customer service from Petya and Heycar. Would highly recommend.

Wouldn’t recommend this company to my…

Wouldn’t recommend this company to my enemy!!! They were quick to take my money then I waited 6 weeks before receiving the Audi A6. Minimal information on lead time, what was going on with the car or when I would get it. Car arrived absolutely filthy. Professional driver that delivered said he may have got caught speeding on way so to keep his number!! Upon inspection of the vehicle there are multiple faults on the dash. Showing several safety features are not working. Can’t get hold of anyone on the phone. All communication by email. Then told just 24hrs after delivery to take the car to a garage and get it looked and to use the warranty that came with the purchase. This is not what a warranty is for. You expect a car to come to you with no issues. Not have half the advertised features not working. False advertising!!! Absolutely disgusting service. Now have a car sat outside that needs to be taken to an Audi main dealer and will cost nearly £1000 out of my own pocket to fix!!!! Have sent emails and left voicemails but no one has called me back. Avoid at all cost. If a car price is too good to be true then there’s a reason for that. Hey Car should be ashamed of how they conduct themselves. Leaving customers out of pocket, stressed and having their time wasted.
