If you want to get lied to straight in your face choose this company!

If you want to get lied to straight in your face choose this company! They decided to charge us for a broken window, which they initially said would be for their cost, then still put in the portal for us to pay and even more € than they initially said, then said they would remove it but never ended up doing it. However, according to their own contract, there needs to be an inspection for them to be allowed to charge the tenant. After many e-mails they came up with the lie that they inspected it and it was our fault the window broke because we had it open in a week of hard wind and storms, which you can literally look up, and every weather websites shows there was a maximum of 2 Bft. The window was extra fragile due to the black mold that was all over it, but they didn't respond to all of these points because they knew they were in wrong. When we said this to them they said the case was closed. They also charged us for an extractor hood because a tiny light switch broke. When we asked them about this, they again lied to us and said we agreed to split the cost, which we didn't and when we asked for this agreement they also couldn't give proof, and this cost-splitting is also not even an option according to the contract we signed. Besides, once again they went against their own contract and didn't do an inspection to prove tenant fault. When we asked them about this, they came up with the lie that they did do an inspection and did a serious allegation; they detected 'incorrect use', but once again they couldn't prove this because as far as we know we didn't let anyone into our apartment for this... It also would be very hard to break the tiny light switch by incorrect use or even misuse, because how do you break a light switch smaller than your finger? It just happened by turning on the light. It also took weeks to months for stuff to get repaired, including the window during a time in which it was very cold outside, which made it very cold in our apartment. We are now, almost 2 months after moving out still working on a legal process to get our money back because since they have decided 'case closed', they have been ignoring our e-mails, calls and texts. We have given them enough opportunities to resolve this amicably, but unfortunately this didn't work. So, if you want to have to be in a constant state of stress because you need to keep checking you're not getting unjustified charges and be gaslit and manipulated in your face and not getting taken seriously when you tell them you will take legal action, I would recommend this company!
Other than the deposit problem at the end of our stay, the apartment was disgusting when we arrived, we ended up staying in a hotel the first night because we still had so much to clean. There are also many other things that broke during our 6-month stay, which just shows how bad the quality of the apartment was, especially considering we have lived in 3 other apartments the last 3,5 years and nothing has ever broken in those apartments over all these years. The communication with HelpHousing has always been horrible, I would often stay home for hours waiting for them because they told me they would come for something that needed to be fixed, and then they ended up not showing up, causing me to waste an entire day. On top of that, their English is not good, leading to many miscommunications from their side. I have offered to communicate in Spanish with them, but they would always end up switching back to Spanish, which shows their unprofessionalism; clients are not there to practice your English on.

THE WORST

THE WORST.

They will always find ways to charge you more! Hidden fees everywhere, from day 1 to last day. Even when I left they added a random 100 euros. They canceled my room 2 weeks before my arrival (when I had already signed the contract and pay the tenant fee of 1000 euros). They didn't provided any help finding a new one. My room was disgusting!! Mold on the ceiling, walls so dirty, main light wasn't working (took 3 months to repair). Bathroom was covered in mold as well. One day, they randomly add 4 people in our appartment for 1 month (because theirs was broken or something) which made our electricity bill SO HIGH and they never charged them. The cleaning lady stole our miror and multi charge (yes, with evidence). So much more happen, just don't do it.

Book anywhere else if you can!!!

Hi Elena,

We’re truly sorry to read that your experience did not meet your expectations. That is never the standard we aim to provide, and we take feedback like yours very seriously. We will review the situation internally with the relevant teams to better understand what may have happened.

We would like to clarify an important point regarding the tenant fee. We do charge a tenant fee, which corresponds to one month of rent. However, we do not manage rooms with a monthly rent of €1000, so we are unsure what specific amount you are referring to. All payments and charges are always itemized and visible in each tenant’s private profile, where the breakdown can be reviewed at any time.

Regarding utilities, as stated in the contract, this is a shared apartment and electricity consumption is divided among the tenants living in the property during that specific period. Tenants rent a private room within a shared flat. Any additional occupants assigned to the property are also included in the billing period calculation, and consumption is distributed according to occupancy.

Concerning the maintenance and cleanliness issues you mention, we would have appreciated the opportunity to resolve them promptly. Repairs and incidents are handled through our support channels and addressed as soon as they are reported and verified. Allegations such as theft are extremely serious, and we would require formal documentation and an official report in order to properly investigate them.

We regret that your stay left you with this perception. If you are open to it, we would appreciate the opportunity to review your case in detail.

Don't rent a room via HelpHousing; does not adhere to the agreements.

Don't rent a room via HelpHousing. I had an agreement about a room in Madrid. Everything was allright. Untill HelpHousing decided to renovate the building. I already booked a flight which i couldn't cancel. I could not stay in the room and had to chose between searching for a room via another service (which was already late), or if i wanted a comparable room i had to pay an additional 120 euros per month, which i could enter more than a week later after my arrival in Madrid.

I accepted the last option because the room market had become really scarce. I did not receive any compensation for de inconvinience. Neither did I get any compensation for the days I had to arrange my own residence.

To make it even worse they wanted me to pay another 240 euros for deposit and agency fee. They don't recognise their own mistakes and won't help you in a reasonable way.

Experiencia

Llegar a un país completamente nuevo y muy lejano de casa, a vivir con desconocidos, sonaba a un gran reto, pero helpHousing hizo sinceramente que fuera mucho más fácil y divertido.

review after renting

The rent is incredibly high for the rooms they offer (580 euro for the room I had in Barcelona which was 5 square meters). I don't know how they have the audacity to even think about those prices to be honest. Problem is the rooms look much bigger on the website when you book it, probably all pictures taken with wide angle as well as lying about the actual square meters of the room (as an architect, I can quite easily review that). Another problem was how dirty and slightly broken everything was in the apartment (in all of the spaces, from the floor to the ceiling to the furniture or other items). Everything is in bad condition, yet not bad enough to be declared unusable or dysfunctional and for the apartment manager to replace it. The apartment manager of the apartment I lived in was terrible in terms of communication - she sent lots spam messages almost daily on whatsapp, yet when we had major problems in the apartment and contacted her to resolve them (as it was stipulated in the contract it was her duty to resolve them within 10 days) she completely ignored the messages (even for 2 weeks, longer than the contract even allowed her). I have been living without hot water for 2 months when she decided she wants to finally fix the issue, without internet for one month, the emergency contact didn't answer any of the times I tried to contact it (about 3 different occasions).

Help housing company does not provide renting customers with quality services

I have lived in one flat, which is under agency Help housing. First time, I had to change the room in first week, because in the room 2 in the flat on Av. de la Constitucio in Valencia, there has not been fixed issue with one window - space between glass and broken blinds, it causes extremous noise from the cars and cold entry in automn/winter time. Agency continue to rent this room (and again increased the price) without fixing these issues, what I consider it as scame behavior from Help housing, trying to be more profitable without having efforts to deliver at least basic quality of living. I see here as good only quick answer of fleet manager, but if any maintance is needed, you need to wait weeks it is fixed, or finally it is not fixed and hidden like nothing would happen before. Admin fee on level of monthly rent (almostly around 400 EUR) is fee just for opening contract and your account in their system. Imagine how much time take these contract procedures and if this price is really customer fair, if on the market you find service for opening contract starting on 50 EUR?

Worst experience ever

Worst experience ever
The absolute worst company to rent a room. Do not rent a room here. The rooms are less good then the look. The flat managers are horrific, and do not communicate at all. I was left without hot water 6 times in 4 months, sometimes even up to 5 days, with my flat manager telling me that it is 'normal', and I should just take a ice cold shower.
At the end, the company started renting the rooms out to Airbnb, with random strangers in my house every other day. They did not tell us this.
It is the worst experience I have ever had with housing, they only want to make money and do not care about you at all. Would never recommend it to anyone.
