Harris Horology

Harris Horology serviced a 40 year old Omega de Ville automatic watch that belonged to my grandad. The service they provided was very good, with excellent communication and accurate timescales provided for the work. The watch was returned in excellent condition and in a protective case. I was delighted with the work done and the service they provided. Highly recommended.

Harris Horology

James Harris, Horologist. Very poor service. disrespectful of clients. Facts: I contacted this business (after an online search for such people) to repair a mantle clock in 2021. Mr Harris himself collected it. There were some communication difficulties with which I expressed my frustration. The clock was taken in July 2021 and returned in October 2021. It has worked perfectly, remained in a single place since and handled only by me, the owner. The clock suddenly stopped working for no clear reason, in September 2024. It proved very difficult to get hold of Harris Horology. Phone calls are never answered. There is no option to leave a message. After several emails there eventually came a reply offering some choices. I selected an option and informed Harris Horology. No reply. I have sent further emails without a response.
Opinion: This is an appallingly unprofessional service disrespectful of clients (oh, and the “repair” only lasted for 3 years! Shouldn’t it be more like 10?). I am posting this to save other potential clients from the immense frustration and disrespect (I have subsequently learned that other clients have had similar “unfavourable” experiences). It’s not the workmanship (although I think Harris repair should have lasted for more than 3 years) but the utter contempt with which Harris Horology regards its clients. There are plenty of other Horologists who do not treat clients like this. I do appreciate that many other clients have left favourable reviews of Harris Horology via ”Google reviews”. My experience just happens to be different and deserves to be stated along with the positive ones.
NB (Although not directly applicable here, if a repair is unsatisfactory and the “repairer” will not take it back for inspection - even if not under a guarantee - is that a breach of consumer rights? Just asking.)
