Don’t buy a Groupon voucher

Don’t buy a Groupon voucher, as you could run the risk of being given the run around and trouble with trying to fix up little glitches in the system between Groupon and the merchant who you will redeem your voucher through.

Groupon vouchers used to be great years ago, but just this year, l have begun to have problems with redeeming with the merchant.

The first was trying to make an appointment with Hairfanatic which l was directed to do on the Groupon platform. There were no spots left available, so l had to call the merchant to make an appointment, which l found there to be actually plenty of spots available, but was told in the Groupon fine print NOT to call Hairfanatic directly.

Another problem l just had using a Groupon voucher, was with Justwines, which appeared to be too difficult for them to sort out, but it was only what l thought was an easy thing- adding the details of my address to the delivery of my order.

I emailed Justwines and called them to tell them my delivery address, as it was missing from the original order through Groupon. A simple mistake that l thought would be easy to correct by contacting them directly, but instead l had to chase them up again because l had no reply and no delivery. I ended up having to go back to Groupon for help, before Justwines finally notified me by email that they had arranged my delivery.

However, l heard nothing more from Justwines, like you usually do when ordering- tracking, expected date of delivery, etc. It was Groupon who promptly sent me the tracking number details, after l pleaded for more information from them about the delivery.

Appalling service from both parties and getting the run around. It is just not worth it!

Wrong product, terrible customer service. Have reported them.

Bad experience, worse customer service. I ordered tickets for an experience, and was sent the wrong tickets. I let them know right away, with plenty of time to rectify the error. Not only did they not fix it, but they have repeatedly ignored my requests for a refund or some kind of recognition. Worse, now they're saying I used the wrong tickets (I didn't – I have timestamped proof I was not there). This has been going on for over a month. Unbelievably shoddy and dishonest company. Save yourselves the heartache and the small claims court experience.

No Support and No Delivery

I ordered a product through Groupon on 18 November and have received no item, no shipping update, and no way to reach the seller. The deal now feels misleading, and the gift I purchased won’t arrive in time.
I contacted Groupon for help, but there’s been no meaningful support or resolution. Extremely disappointed in the lack of accountability. Posting this here hoping someone from Groupon finally steps in to fix this.

I bought 2 vouchers for Taronga zoo and…

I bought 2 vouchers for Taronga zoo and they sent me booking links that didn't work. After I contacted them they promised me to get back to me within 48+72 hours. Then 7 days. Then after 9 days and multiple emails and chats, they told me that I can't get a refund even though is not mentioned anywhere and it's their fault. In the end I somehow managed to get my refund and I have to wait 5-10 business days for the cash. Be prepared for a lot frustration and annoyance if you have a problem with your voucher and you might lose your money as well.

Three months grace period? Pathetic!

When we open presents and cards, we don’t see a gift voucher and automatically search for an expiry date. In fact, we naturally and now understand that we wrongly assume, the grace period would exceed three months. In fact, I’m sure our government has regulated gift voucher expiry dates to three years from date of purchase. Another reason why we probably didn’t think to check. We have been away and wouldn’t have had time to even redeem this until a fortnight ago and running to check use by dates of vouchers certainly wasn’t on my list of priorities when we returned. Nonetheless, I also wrongly assumed Groupon would attempt to preserve any level of consideration or customer satisfaction.
Below is my latest reply to Groupon regarding my predicament. I’m upset because this company is lining their pockets with the cash of kind hearted, well meaning people who generously seek out lovely experiences to gift their loved ones, more than often, to no avail. I have no idea what my friends have spent in this instance, in order to ensure we are appreciative of their efforts and generosity. What I do know is that Groupon has their money and completely refuse to honour the voucher they bought, as I wrongly assumed it, as all other gift vouchers, would not expire in such a short time period. I’m not sure what I’m to tell my loved ones when they ask how much we enjoyed our experience except they wasted their money because we failed to read an expiry date. Good on you, Groupon.
You keep shafting unsuspecting people because that’s apparently what you’re good at.

“You have inconvenienced us and probably thousands of other unsuspecting customers. I still don’t understand why a voucher would have an expiry period of 3 months. This makes no sense at all. I don’t even care about the experience. What I am uncomfortable with is that thousands of people spend their hard earned money on these things and are now out of pocket and completely unaware of this, especially if they put their vouchers and birthday cards away until a later date. They are completely scammed by this and I am disgusted that a company like yours, with apparently good reputation, would treat their customers in this way. I feel extremely sorry for my friends who have been victims of your extremely unreasonable three month expectation of usage, which we would not have been able to redeem within this period as we have been interstate until two weeks ago. Please escalate this matter to someone of authority who possesses at least some level of consideration and common sense and not just someone who can only regurgitate the policies through repeated emails. Instead of telling me how sorry you are and what you can’t do, try to satisfy your customer with some kind of compromise or offer of good faith because I can tell you now, if I or any of my 60 plus staff treated my customers in this way, I would be destitute. Oh, and I will have no hesitation in telling anyone who cares to listen, just how pathetic your customer service and treatment obviously is. I sill cannot comprehend why this cannot be rectified in a courteous and appeasing manner. Just do the right thing for goodness sake!”

I had an excellent experience with Hello Molly’s customer service. Tanya went above and beyond to arrange a special transfer of my dress from the US warehouse to the AU warehouse, which made it possible for me to purchase the item I really wanted. She was kind, prompt, and kept me updated throughout the process. I really appreciated the personal touch and the effort made to help me. Thank you for great service!
