I found the application very easy to set up and it's an effective way to teach my kids about finances at a younger age. The phone app is easy to use, but I'm on a computer all day and wish I could use... See more

It’s a great app for my kiddos

It’s a great app for my kiddos. We love it! The only thing is I don’t have the ability to transfer money out of my account in Greenlight to my bank at this time. But otherwise, good app for teacher money management.

Horrible horrible horrible…

Horrible horrible horrible experience!!! Always an issue with direct deposit! No one can give me a straight answer as to how to resolve the issue. Customer service is so slow. You can never get a clear resolution. No follow through on what they say! I was told I would get a call regarding my son’s direct deposit 1/5 latest by 1/6 to ensure everything was resolved… crickets… not worth the aggravation! Save yourself the time and money, find another company that can help your teen manage their $$

Only basic function

Greenlight is functional in giving a child or incapable adult a spending card that has "parent" oversight and spending controls.

Greenlight needs to add low balance alert on child's account that is texted to parent. My friend is mentally challenged so his getting a text alert on his account is not functional.

Also needs to add ability to get cash at ATM. I asked for this a year ago. They were "working on it." On these needs and the antiquated website, meaning it is difficult to find choices,-but, oh, you get Greenlight popups advertising additional fee features constantly!- Greenlight doesn't seem to care. It is stagnant.

Used to work great

Used to work great. Now they hold your funds for up to a week, even though it instantly comes out of your banking account. 2.5 billion a year, and holding for a week, creates quite a profit for US Bank.

This is so not right!!!

So I wanted a card for my son to use whenever he needed to. After some research, I came upon the GL cards for kids, so I got him one for his BD and from time to time would post some small amounts to his card. Every time I post funds to his card from my Bank Account, the amount is readily available on his GL card. Recently, I posted $25 to his card. I kept checking his GL card to see if the money was posted, as it's already out of my account.
After 2 days, I called customer service, only to be told that this post will be uploaded by the next five days. How can this work for any parent who wants to ensure that their child or children have some PLUS the monthly fee of $11, depending on which package you choose.
I prefer to give him cash as there's not much of an investment with GREENLIGHT anyway!

If you ever want to have a bank for…

If you ever want to have a bank for your teen please don’t used this app , thy would literally waste your time and take your money . They deactivated my account after i told the guy what’s my address and he confirmed the address afterwards checking my email it says my account been deactivated. I put $100 in the account so my teen can have it now it’s getting refunded 5-10 business days hopefully i get my money back then I got an emailed saying my custom debit card for my teen is approved and will be sent out business days , usually it says it right away when you do those changes . Unprofessional i need someone from corporate or else i’m going to raise hell .

A Special Place

I decided to try Greenlight for my Great Granddaughter. We live several states apart. At 15 years old, a weekly allowance is something I can give her. We can still share her shopping adventures and the fun of what she buys. She has chosen to open the savings part of Greenlight on her own. I love that it gives a young person options. To save or to spend. Their choice.

Please do not get this card or service

Please do not get this card or service! I got this for my teenage daughter over 3 years ago and cancelled it about a year and half ago, twice! Now I'm contacting them for the third time because they continue to take $5.99 each month for a card we no longer have, and an account I no longer have access to!

Problems with green light.

Autofunding pulling from wrong account. Then pay $20 fee because it's denied, returned.
Initiating payment the next day after I put $20 in account day before and paid kids.
Saying they funded the $20, and that's why they took $20 I paid from the right account because wrong account denied it.
Taking money from my son's account that doesn't show what it paid for ,but they said they took it for part of payment getting denied and say cash app payment that covered wrong account wasn't full payment when it was the full payment and should of got my son's money back, but they didn't refund anything. Can barely understand the foreign people they have answer the call and manager was no help. Paying more fees to have green light account.
