The unreliability of Hostelworld ratings
The traveler relies or desires to have reviews that are relevant, accurate and do not reflect emotional bias. Hostelworld claims it adds reviews of its customers based on their experiences and "attempts" to be accurate. Unfortunately their rating algorithm has settings that "average-up" ratings that are intended to be lower. So if you rate the establishment at "1" the hostelworld algorithm comes back with a "3.something" to the review. Which is ultimately irrelevant. If I had a way, I would request that Hostelworld refund my lousy stay at one of their (falsely) rated establisments.
