We pride ourselves in being transparent about our price policy, and by clicking on the price of each product, we provide a transparent breakdown of the total price (Metal price + Premium + VAT).
Premium costs, which are charged by all precious metals retailers, are also explained as covering our production and operational costs as well as our margin.
The value you see in your account is the metal value =SPOT price, this value fluctuates according to the market and is the amount will get if you decide to sell the product back.

Please note that every investment product, including precious metals, has two distinct market prices:
Ask price (purchase price): the price at which the market is willing to sell the metal to you. This is the price you pay when buying.
Bid price (selling price): the price at which the market is willing to buy the metal from you. This is the price you receive when selling.
Gold Avenue always pays 100% of the bid price when you sell your metals and does not retain any portion of that amount. The difference between the ask and bid price reflects standard market spreads and is not a fee taken by Gold Avenue.
We hope this clarifies the pricing mechanism and ensures full transparency in all transactions.

Great support
Purchase and storage of metals is very easy and the checkout journey is very intuitive. The support and assistance offered is top notch. However there are arenas for improvement, like price parity and spot price syncing, dark mode for mobile application, improve login and overall app response times, auto refresh rates in the price chart and wallet, based on live market movement, ensure price quoted is for the real weight of precious metals.

The price of pure metal is being charged for lower grade also, for eg price of 999.9 pure gold is charged for 916.7 pure gold too. That's daylight robbery, imho.

Purchasing precious metals
The process of purchasing precious metals went very smoothly. As a German citizen I really appreciate the option to store the precious metals in Switzerland. I recommend shipping gold to your address but leaving silver and other metals in Switzerland, because they are not VAT-exempt.
(Please note that this VAT-exemption only applies to Germany and EU rules might differ for other countries.)

Switzerland is not what is was
Switzerland has lost even the last remnants of its neutrality and dignity. Your money and precious metals are no longer safe there. I will be closing my Gold Avenue account. There are many precious metals trading and storage platforms that are far safer, such as those based in Singapore.

Hidden VAT Surprise Upon Delivery
Gold Avenue promotes silver storage with 0% VAT, which sounds like a smart deal. But what they don’t mention — anywhere — is that if you later request delivery, VAT is charged on the current market value of the silver, not on your purchase price. I only found this out after specifically asking. If silver prices rise, you end up paying much more VAT than expected. This lack of transparency is really disappointing for a platform that positions itself as investor-friendly.

VAT rules for precious metals are indeed determined by the laws of the country where the goods are delivered. While gold is at 0% VAT considered as investment metal, silver, platinum, and palladium are subject to VAT and considered as induistrial metals. This regulation applies to all countries and is not specific to GOLD AVENUE.
When metals are stored with us, no VAT is applied because they remain in free port zone storage. However, once you request delivery, your country’s applicable VAT rules take effect.
We’ll make sure to further re-highlight this in our FAQ and platform information for even greater transparency.

I experienced poor payment transparency…
I experienced poor payment transparency with GOLD AVENUE.
I sent the full order amount, but undisclosed intermediary bank fees meant the payment arrived short. I then had to send the missing amount as a separate transfer, resulting in over £70 in total banking fees across two payments.
Neither my bank nor GOLD AVENUE could provide advance clarity on how much extra was required to guarantee full settlement. GOLD AVENUE also does not accept Wise or similar regulated payment providers, forcing customers into costly international transfers with unpredictable fees.
For a precious metals provider, this lack of payment transparency and flexibility is concerning. The order should not be delayed when the customer has acted promptly and in good faith.
Update:
GOLD AVENUE has replied to my review, so I am updating this to reflect their response.
They state that intermediary bank fees are outside their control and clarify that money transfer platforms can be accepted under certain conditions. However, this information was not clearly disclosed at the time of payment. There was no clear explanation about potential intermediary fees, currency settlement, or what conditions apply to alternative transfer methods.
The payment details provided were a UK IBAN, which reasonably suggested a simple GBP transfer. The lack of upfront, consolidated guidance resulted in the payment arriving short, the need for a second transfer, and over £70 in total fees.
While the order itself was eventually processed in a reasonable timeframe, my review reflects an issue of payment transparency and customer communication, not processing speed. For that reason, the rating remains unchanged.
