Gorgeous Glass House

Just left this wonderful restaurant, at the Redoubt. Out of town should not mean out of sight! Worth a trip for a great meal, good value, great decor, friendly service. Check out the new menu ..3 courses for under £23. My son had high quality pate, bangers and mash, and beyond choclatey, moist brownie with ice cream. My daughter in law had leek and potato soup succculent beef with mash and roast vegetables, and sticky toffee pudding. I had soup, gnocchi with spinach and butternut squash, and treacle tart. First class. Visit soon!

I've eaten there a few times this week as I've been staying in a guest house opposite. I'm on my own and they have welcomed me and been very friendly. The food is a little expensive but well worth it. I had the best roast beef today.

Firstly oysters came after main meal was started.
Secondly to pay £11 for four asparagus spears in batter as a smaller plate meal was way overpriced.
Thirdly no children style desserts only adult style ones.
Way overpriced everything.

If Fawlty Towers did restaurants

Accurately describing the poor service here requires a great deal of focus and consideration. Was it the 5 minute wait to be seated whilst the girl at the bar ignored us or the scowled reception we received to an empty restaurant of ‘have you booked’.

There were 7 of us so the 14 pieces of cardboard menus left scattered on the table made for interesting conversation when the server tried to park the drinks. Mind you the 22 minute wait for drinks pushed us to the limit whilst the starters had already arrived. Then of course a further problem of trying to deliver the main course when the starter plates are still in place.

It’s a shame that this great location lacks any form of management input (other than to remove reviews from other sites with supposedly blurred images) but thank goodness for Trustpilot.

The fine people of Eastbourne need to know that this place is well situated, very expensive poorly managed and a debacle of a restaurant with loud inappropriate house music, but fear not there is a KFC around the corner.

Awful

Went having looked at the menu online. However considering that a large amount of the menu was based on Lobster and Crayfish we were disappointed to learn they had none apparently this was due to problems with their supplier. All due respect, not my problem easy answer go to a different supplier. We struggled to find a suitable item on the menu to select. When I spoke to the manager and suggested a large portion of crab. His response was negative and unhelpful saying it was only served as per the menu in small starter size. There was only one other member of staff serving whose attention it was extremely difficult get and when we did she was dismissive and unhelpful. There were four dinners in our party none of whom would go near or recommend the place.
It’s a nice building in a good location. However in its current form it’s just a very expensive beach bar and cafe with terrible customer service. Incidentally after our meal we found lots of seafood suppliers within a stones throw with lots of Lobster and Crayfish however with nothing good to say about the Glass House.

👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Very poor customer service experience.

From the moment we arrived, the service was disappointing. There was no warm welcome—just someone handing us menus and telling us to find a seat. When we tried to sit at a table, we were abruptly told it was reserved. My girlfriend asked politely where we could sit, and the response from the waitress was simply, “Check there or inside,” without offering any real help.

After we placed our order, the waitress asked us to pay immediately, without giving any context. When we questioned why, she explained it was due to people previously walking out without paying—which is understandable. However, it would have been much better customer service to explain that up front instead of making us feel like we weren’t trusted.

Overall, it felt like the staff lacked basic training in customer care. A little friendliness and clearer communication would go a long way. Horrible place 👎🏻

Go if happy to wait long time for drinks

Went for evening meal very dissatisfied with the service. Staff seemed friendly enough but totally managed as after waiting 20 mins and drinks sitting at bar we had to get up and walk to the bar to get them after asking passing staff 3 times about them. Meal was of a good standard not fantastic portions good and everything cooked well. Lay out of tables poor as we backed onto another party of 6 and evertime anyone had to get up you ended up waking chair behind which isn't nice for either person. Also where glass fronted one poor guest had been seated where sun was shining down on him so much he could hardly see. One couple up and left rather than ordering. Oh and when ordered another drink mid meal waited another 25minutes I went and complained at the bar they did take that off the bill and apologised as so short staffed yet at time some where just standing around and place half empty at least. I think the owner has alot to learn about running a restaurant and managing staff and their training. Has the potential of being a lovely venue such a shame.

No consideration to those living across the road.

I think the owner forgets that although they won the licence in 2023 for live music ect, there are residential flats and buisnesses situated across the road. Playing loud music in the middle of the day is inconsiderate and is scaring my cat. This is unfair for my cat let alone other pets in the surrounding areas. I will be reporting this to the council, however, nothing will be done sadly as the owner probably has contacts at the council. Please be considerate to those living in the surrounding areas. Turn the music down! It isn't Ibiza.

We were asked if it was okay if they delivered out main at the sametime as our starter which we said no! Seemed to get the impression this annoyed the waitress. We then had our starters served and my starter of pork cheeks was bland and tasteless and when asked how our starters were and i let them k ow politely that mine hadnt been great it seemed that no one really seemed to care in the kitchen about this comment or the management. The main however was lovely. I've had a lovely breakfast here previously and a lovely evening meal back in October so this was really disappointing.

Not the best

Service very poor, staff need correct training.
Food very average nothing special, had a brunch breakfast very basic and fried egg yolk rock hard and the white very crispy, had a latte to drink in a mug with no handle so had to hold it in a serviette so not to burn my hand. Nice surroundings, decor and outside area lovely. Staff and food need to up there game.

Overpriced and very standard breakfast!

Over priced food served on a cold plate. £15 for a cooked breakfast which included HALF a slice of bog standard black pudding.
Poached eggs had clearly uncooked areas!!
On a plus side, the staff were polite and attentive. The building has been renovated to a high standard and I will return…….for a coffee or a cocktail.

Lovely venue & location

Lovely venue & location, however service & food lacking. Been open a week so teething problems should've been sorted, but we waited 20 mins & no service whatsoever. We had to ask eventually for menus, then wait again 15/20 mins before asking to order. long wait for food, drinks shouldve come much sooner too. Wrong food came, no cutlery. Tea without tea-spoon or sugar. When correct food arrived , it was adequate at best, regular muffin with sliced boiled ham, not ham hock as adverised. Muffin could have been the larger, proper type rather than Tescos usual.

Fabulous food!

My husband and I went to Glass House restaurant in its first week of opening. There were a few teething problems as you would expect but the food was fabulous! Everything was beautifully cooked and presented, the restaurant looks so cool and there was a lovely bustling atmosphere. Good value for money. Definitely going again!
