I had GardX applied to my new BMW X5, which was a new experience after many previous cars without it
I had an issue with the windscreen with lots of spots/ stars. BMW at first were not interested and directed me to GardX. Their Rep Ashley Huff came to inspect my car at home, spent a long time cleaning and inspecting the windscreen, only to conclude that there were issues with the actual glass. After referring his views to BMW they immediately agreed to change the screen - which is now so much better. The GardX treatment is great as even though i can see the dirt on my car after the heavy rain & sleet last night it still looks really clean and bright. Ashley was very professional and was clearly very experienced - thank you
Awful customer service ignore/never respond to emails. And either the product is cr*p or the dealerships alleged valeters failed to apply Gard X correctly as after only 4 weeks its clear the coating isnt doing what it should and hasnt been applied properly or its just not good enough. Being a former valeter myself for a car dealership and used
Similar products i know the process and how it should be .
Having contacted gard x they have ignored me so not happy at all.
The process of claiming was very easy and the job was carried out on time and the work was excellent and quick.
Fantastic service from start to finish from GardX special thanks to Alan who was absolutely fantastic
Alan did my car today was very provisional took care in what he did and this service I received from guard x from start to finish was excellent
Very good product.
Does what it says, leaves a coating on your car paint
Which dispels water quickly after washing.
Do NOT waste your money on buying a GardX Cosmetic Repair insurance with your car dealer.
GardX will demand countless photos and retakes, I must have Emailed/posted about 20 ….an obvious delaying tactic to put you off proceeding with your claim !
In their policy there is absolutely NO mention that the
" under 30cm length " allowance for scrapes actually changes if you have 2 scratches
Unbelievably they consider the combined length of any separate scratches plus the distance between them as the length of the damage …... Unbelievable !
Consequently they won’t cover ANY bodywork repairs at all.
STEAR CLEAR
Very unimpressed with this company. In August 2025 I took out a Cosmetic Maintenance Plan for 3yrs (£399) and a Ceramic Maintenance Plan for lifetime (£649). At the beginning of April 2026 I am now trading in the vehicle and find that there is no partial refund available and I shall lose over £900. This is both unfair and unreasonable. I should like to warn others about signing up to similar policies
Fantastic service from start to finish. Arrived on time, removed all stains quickly, and shared great advice on maintaining my interior. Very knowledgeable and helpful—thanks, Alan!
Great Products. Gard X conserve is easy to use and keeps the car glossy with very little effort.
Good company to deal with.
The care products are of a high standard, providing a range of quality options to care and clean my Audi. These make it simple to maintain a clean vehicle, inside and out. I would recommend Gardex to maintain a warranty standard.
Lynsey was amazing with my claim . So very helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble . I Tried to sort on portal and email but was getting no where fast. Lynsey sorted my problem within 10 minutes . Excellent service , thank you
I have benefited from prompt and flexible service in regards to organising my car’s cosmetic repairs.
I purchased a GardX cosmetic repair insurance policy believing it would provide straightforward cover for minor paint damage.
When I attempted to submit a claim for a small stone chip on my BMW X5 on 22 February 2026, the online claims portal repeatedly failed and instructed me to contact customer services instead.
From that point onward the experience became extremely frustrating.
Over the following weeks I:
• Sent multiple emails to GardX
• Provided all requested claim details
• Supplied the requested photographs several times
• Dealt with two different claims handlers
Despite complying fully each time, I repeatedly received template responses asking for exactly the same information that had already been supplied.
It took numerous follow-ups simply to obtain a decision.
The claim was eventually declined on the basis that the chip is located on the A-pillar, which GardX classify as a “roof pillar” and therefore excluded from cover.
While customers can form their own view on that interpretation of the policy wording, my primary concern is the extremely poor claims handling and communication.
The process involved:
• A non-functioning online claims portal
• Multiple follow-up emails just to obtain a response
• Repeated requests for the same information and photographs
• Several weeks to reach a decision
For a product marketed as providing quick cosmetic repairs without affecting your main motor insurance, the claims process has been unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming.
One genuine question arising from this experience: if the bonnet, roof and pillars are excluded areas for stone chip repairs, what exactly does the policy realistically cover? Those are the areas where stone chips most commonly occur on a vehicle.
Given the handling of this case, I have now submitted a formal complaint and am considering referring the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service for review.
Based on this experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering this type of cosmetic repair insurance to carefully review the exclusions and the claims process before purchasing.
We took out GuardX with our new car September 2024. They struggled with matching the paint when we needed a touch up. Took 2 different guys to sort it. Taking over a month to get them to do it properly. If that wasn't bad enough when we tried to use them on the alloys, the first guy said it couldn't be done. So we called back to get the other guy back who did a good job. However just tried to use them again and told it can't be done due to matching the smoke effect. They are trying to fob us off with £150 towards going to a proper company to do it. We got 3 quotes all over £180 needing the car for 2 days. The insurance isn't fit for purpose. If they can't colour match they shouldn't offer it from the showroom. We now have Hendy trying to use their contact to sort the issue. As ordered a new car and we've told them we don't want the GuardX cover.
Save your money, find a different company, GuardX are slow and not fit for purpose.
The tyre cover is not worth it. I had a puncture and got my car to a Kwik fit (their preferred garage) just to find gardx hadn't paid their bills so Kwik fit wouldn't replace the tyres for free. When I tried to claim it back from gardx they have fought it all the way and now they've gone silent. Avoid this company!!!
The garage messed up the paintwork doing this and it’s never really been sorted . Never again
Superb service from GardX. Warranty work carried out to an excellent standard and it was really helpful also to get tips and advice from Alan the expert technician who carried out the work. From start to finish it was a professional and yet also personal service. Highly recommended.
To claim for tyre replacement is so difficult and awkward and the helpline offer no assistance and the attitude is that's our process like or leave it.
Submitted a video of the tyre damage from the main dealer where we bought the car (and the policy) to be told they were not qualified to provide the required details. We had 3 tyres with screws in and were told we had to raise a claim for each individual tyre even though the evidence (video) was all in one!
Total shambles and feels like its designed to frustrate the customer so much they don't bother claiming.
I took out Alloy Wheel cover when I bought my car and was told about how easy the procedure is when making a claim. On trying to make a claim soon found out how hard it is to make a claim. Told that if I did not have a driveway then they could not come out to my home address and that I had to find a suitable place with access to an electrical point. I eventually contacted the company I bought the car from and they said they could use their ground. Called back to GuardX and confirmed this, they then rang back to say that the company they use in my area does not have a lathe on the vans so can only paint over the damage to the wheel, this is not what I consider to be a repair just a cover up. If I had known this on taking out the policy I would never have agreed to paying the extra money! What a rip off!!
