I visited the Sunderland branch this morning for a new UPVC door lock assembly, The counter staff member identified the type straight away and said I can fix that for you. Less than 5 minutes later job done.

ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING LEVEL OF SERVICE AND PRICES FROM WHAT WAS GLASGOWS TOP IRONMONGERS. (THEY'VE BEEN BIUGHT OVER). ILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN. RUDE AGGRESSIVE DISHONEST STAFF. I NEVER HAD THESE PROBLEMS AT THEIR GOVAN OUTLET. 45 YEARS OF GOODWILL ERASED. WELL DONE.

ordered a letter box paid a decent amount of money it fell apart can't get hold of them they won't reply to emails !!!

Such poor quality. I’m trying to fit these for a customer and the fixings are just so flimsy, screws keep breaking there’s next to no thread on the bolts and I’m having to drill them out because the heads keep stripping. Spend a bit more and buy something that will last.

My 1st order with George Boyd ( as a property developer):
Delivery by DHL one day late, just dumped outside the door, despite us being here. Product box damaged. No fixing screws, instructions (or template) in box - (As described by the manufacturer). Submitted 2 enquiry forms + 1 email and no reply ... So, they obviously don't need anymore new customers!

I spoke with a technician over the phone, David. As this was as far from my field of knowledge i was helped every step of the way with my orders and sent the relevant information that was easy to access, understand and then place my order. Items arrived quite quickly from the date of ordering.

Kevin from George Boyd was incredibly helpful in my quest to order 70 Perry hinges which were our of stock. He arranged for the items to be sent from another branch and kept me updated by email on progress. This took one day from my initial call to completing the order. So I can highly recommend this company who offer a huge range of architectural ironmongery at excellent prices.

Angela Travers at George Boyd Scotland is brilliant, patient, kind and very helpful.
Always on hand to assist no matter how simple my query may be.

Absolute fantastic shop you don't find many about like this who still have the level of customer service this company has. Kevin the customer service supervisor went above and beyond when there was a problem and is a credit to your company.

Ordered a key on 19th January. It is now 21st March. Every time I chase I get a different story including;

* We don't have that order (errr.. yes you do).
* The factory is experiencing a delay. It will not be long.
* It is with your local hub and should be there in 48 hours.
On my final chase up today I am now told they were unable to deliver. They could not provide more detail. If they were unable to find me, that's weird as no one else has an issue. If they needed a signature I have been here all working hours. No card or such was ever left.

It turns out they have the key with them - I am not sure if they ever would have alerted me.

I was on the backfoot during the whole experience and the operator was definitely having a bad day and taking it out on me like I had done something wrong.

To make matters worse, this is a replacement for my mother who is ill and venerable. That's not the shops issue obviously, but it is annoying I was originally told it is normally "7 working days".

In summary - paid for goods - had to constantly chase - not an ounce of remorse shown - and I STILL HAVE NO KEY for my mother.

I was pretty much forced to go to them due to the type of key it is - but if you are ordering a key by post, I would suggest an alternative if you can.

I see they have very good feedback otherwise, so maybe this was a one off, but I am only reporting my experience.

As fantastic as I had hoped. After a couple of rocky starts with the email a question option, (no response), and the central phone operator giving me the wrong number, (for debt management), I got through to someone at the Glasgow branch who helped me with my query. The postage & packaging was faultless. I had my parcel within 24 hours. This, in my opinion, is admirable. The handles and sashlock were packaged brilliantly. I would happily suggest and use this company going forward, thank you.

I contacted my agent about getting a new key back in January and have only now just gotten confirmation that it’s going to be sent to a different location that I’m going to have to collect it from, dissatisfied with the service and communication.

The item was delivered super quickly, next day in fact and lovely item as described. Bought brackets for my stairs handrail. Unfortunately they didn't quite work as slightly too large. That was my fault for not measuring properly. Customer service is the best I've had in a long time. They sorted a courier to collect my return straight away & gave me a refund. Would recommend and would deal with again.
