It was my first time selling
It was my first time selling, and seemed to go quite well, although I should've looked ahead to see what would've happened had I been out of town when it did sell, b/c at that point you only have 5 days to ship it! thank goodness I was home so it wasn't a problem. They have great customer service!
Great deals and great customer service
Great deals and great customer service. Thanks!
I like GEARTRADE!!
Very slow to pay…high sales fee
Geartrade charges a similar to EBay high sales fee without EBay’s service. Additionally they definitely are in no rush to send you your money. Since selling fees are the same as EBay, EBay gives such great support, and EBay pays fairly quickly, I see no reason to sell on this site.

Item shipped slowly (3-5 business days) and then never arrived
Item shipped slowly (3-5 business days after the order), and then never arrived. The entire process of dealing with the shipper was a pain and it took multiple follow-ups on my part to figure out what was going on and to request a refund from geartrade.
I suggest not using the geartrade seller backcountry until they stop using USPS for delivery. At this point in time USPS is not dependable for expensive items.
I am even more frustrated as I lost out on multiple sales for the same item while waiting for the past month while geartrade assured me it's likely just still on the way, and to please wait. In the end, I can no longer find the item online (let alone on sale). Geartrade nor backcountry offered nothing in return for the entire hassle and lost a potentially good customer.

3-Year Customer & Shop by % off
I've been shopping on GearTrade for 3 years now & up to 61 orders so far & it's one of my most favorite shopping sites. Only twice did I have an issue with processing my order & they were very very prompt in replying to my email & fixed the issue promptly. I also like the option to shop by sorting the items based on the % off savings. It's makes it fun to browse when just wanting to shop but didn't have any specific item in mind. I've purchased from both individual sellers as well as backcountry store items. Both transactions always have gone smoothly.
Solid Customer Service
I ordered touring skis on gear trader. They arrived quickly and had some damage. I emailed Lauren right away and she worked as the liaison between myself and the seller. Absolutely solid customer service. It’s a great avenue to buy gear. Ask the sellers lots of questions and inspect all the pictures carefully.
Just like the outdoors, geartrade is the best, even when the unforeseen happens!
I purchased an item that the seller had inadvertently listed incorrectly. Lauren, in customer service, did an amazing job working out the details and making me an extremely satisfied customer!
Fantastic customer service!
The fine folks at Geartrade.com are absolutely wonderful to work with! I get my gear at a great deal, and they help me look into and navigate any issues that may arise! HIGHLY recommend!
Mini Cooper bike rack sold!!!
I just sold my Mini Cooper bike rack to a great guy from Connecticut who was buying it for a friend’s 9 year old son who recently took up mountain biking. Lauren at geartrade could not of made it easier. This being my first time, she was able to help me very easily manage some of the situations that came up through the process. You always run the risk that things will not come to you as expected but I can see how beneficial this site might be particularly if you have higher end gear you are looking to sell. Everyone wants a great deal if they can get it! ... I look at it this way, if it’s sitting in my garage it’s worth $0 and if I have to sell equipment lower then it’s worth, it still is better than $0 gathering dust. Yes, Yes.... YES!
I have to admit I have a hard time sharing this website with my friends cause I want all the deals for myself lol!
I love Geartrade! Great stuff at even better prices! Have purchased about 4 items throughout the last year and I have zero complains.
Lauren from costumer service is a GEM!
Love the items and the staff! 👍🏼👍🏼
Love the items! Love the system!
Great customer relations and fast response with effective communications!
Keep the great work!
Great service! Hope I help with my review!
Hope I help with my review! I had an amazing experience with Geartrade, shipping was fast and customer service was great! I found what I needed at a very competitive price. I had ordered an item that turned out to be out of stock and they immediately contacted me to say they would try to find a replacement. Not even three days later, they had found the same item and shipped the package the next morning with some extra gears for the trouble. Shipment took four days even though I live on the other side of the country, impressive!
I am very pleased with Geartrade's customer service and happy with the items. I firmly recommend!
Customer Service Is Alive And Well At Geartrade
I can only speak on behalf of my purchase from geartrade.com with Geartrade as a seller. I purchased a pair of bibs for my wife for an upcoming trip to Mt. Hood and they came in way too short for her. We purchased the smalls based on the manufacturer's measurements, but they just weren't right. Geartrade went above and beyond, even offering expedited shipping to get the next size up shipped to my wife in time for our trip! I would highly recommend buying any product that is sold by Geartrade as the seller.

Buyer beware
Buyer beware. I purchased from GearTrade to save a buck. This company was once owned by Backcountry.com; a place where they evaded their contracts with vendors by selling below MSRP. Backcountry.com through GearTrade's website sold me a pair of pedals for less than elsewhere. What I got was two left pedals. GearTrade was less than helpful and has predatory behaviors towards customers, why I suggest you pay a few more bucks elsewhere. I ended up filing a complaint with BBB on both GearTrade and Backcountry.com and eventually the poop rolled downhill and I got a refund but not after weeks of brain damage.
Great service ...
Great service ...
They went out of there way to get an order to me ASAP !!! Highly recommended !!!
Gear Trade Ruins Christmas
Based on mixed reviews I was concerned about using GearTrade, but thought I would give it a shot. We had been looking for an upgraded set of lite weight backcountry skis for my middle school daughter for months. She has been working hard to save a portion of the cost, and the other portion was going to be a surprise Christmas present with skis under the tree. Poor and significantly delayed communication from Gear Trade and we have no skis.
A week after we had placed our order and a full day after the shipping confirmation we got a notification that ‘the seller had sold the skis to another buyer and our order would be cancelled, sorry for the inconvenience.’
The delay in notification and cancellation has consequences for our family. We waited to make sure the package was on its way and waited to take further action, but because we felt assured by the shipping confirmation we sold my daughters current skis locally. Now we are high and dry without skis.
We live in a state which at this time does not allow travel or multi-household social gatherings indoors or outdoors, even for the holidays. Due to an active COVID case in my daughter’s classroom she is on remote learning for a month with no social contact with her peers. As avid skiers, the backcountry was supposed be our outlet, which is now inaccessible to our daughter.
As a result of poor communication by GearTrade we are left scrambling without a way to save Christmas. Oh and by the way our Christmas tradition, usually in lieu of presents, is a donation to the Green Mountain Club and to skin up to stay in a remote cabin they own on Christmas/Christmas Eve. Hard to do without skis.
I know people make mistakes, but a week’s gap in communication and a shipping confirmation go beyond what I think is acceptable.
I will not use GearTrade again.

72 hours to dispute discrepancy..
Updated Review on GearTrade: I'm changing my opinion on GearTrade after having bought a pair of $425 AT ski boots on their website recently. It originally appeared that I was going to get stuck with big loss because I didn’t respond within 72 hours of purchase to report a model discrepancy in the add from the original seller. It took a week or two to get the bottom of it, but I can honestly say that GearTrade provided some of the the best customer service that I've ever received. They provided friendly, caring, professional & continued updates throughout the entire process while even making internal changes to make sure this didn't happen to someone else in the future. And to my surprise, they even provided daily updates for me on Thanksgiving Day, the next day Friday, as well as over the holiday weekend Saturday, and even a final update on Sunday evening where I was told that I'd be reimbursed for my loss. I'm pleased that GearTrade stood behind the situation, and I'm thankful for the great customer service that their team provided throughout the process. Thank you GearTrade!
Some good experiences, some bad.
Some good experiences, some bad. The customer support is frustrating. They don't seem to have visibility or the ability or willingness to contact sellers to work out discrepancies. The site is very glitchy. One price shows in some places, another place shows another. Links lead to unexpected places or do nothing. It works OK enough that I will still use the service but it can be extremely frustrating service if you have any trouble with your order or glitches.
Got screwed by a buyer & Geartrade helped.
There was some confusion with the buyer of two chairs I was selling. They thought it was (2) almost new $70 chairs for $30! (It was $30 each.) I mailed both chairs. The buyer only wanted to pay for one and refused to send the other chair back with shipping covered. Geartrade stepped up and covered the difference. It was a gallant move on their part. I am impressed. - Jesse
