It's a scam. Please avoid if you can. It sounds incredible when you read their online advertising, but I have never ever had an insurance or loan that exploits desperate people like they do. Most people undergoing IVF will have some form of individual difficulty as to why you are struggling to get pregnant. This is NOT catered for at all. If you fall outside the norm, there is a long list of what is not included, how I had to potentially pay more to Gaia, how it took weeks of hazzling back and forth with the clinic because I needed an extra 3 days of IVF, and it was such a hazzle for Gaia to even pay for anything. The clinic I worked with was amazing, and Gaia made my whole experience more stressful. I really felt like an outcast with how I was treated by Gaia.

Also the premium cost is meant to protect you, but when you are paying a premium of £2600 for this "protection" when the final bill is only £4000+ is actually insane. Don't be fooled, the only one proper cashing in on this is Gaia.

Do your research before signing anything with Gaia. Please get a loan with your bank if you can.

Me and wife used Gaia for our shared motherhood journey through a clinic in London. The concept of Gaia is really good however there are really dark APR interest rates. We both thought Gaia was an absolute catch - with just an upfront premium fee of £1450 then no interest until you have a live birth (sounds good huh?).

Lucy was super pushy from the start with the contracts etc rather than explaining everything it was more just pay the premium and we will sort everything no stress no dramas so we just went for it without thinking/reading the contract. They sorted everything with the clinic/sent all monies across - easy process. Sent us a nice gift to the house. All good. Thankfully we were successful with one round and gifted a beautiful baby girl. All good. Happy days.

As we left hospital the reality started to kick in as Gaia were pestering us with emails regarding a dates and have we left the hospital yet. Gaia clearly wanted to get the ball rolling with the payment plan.

I began to do some research and read multiple reviews on trip advisor where I stumbled across a review regarding the APR and how much you’ll actually owe if you go through GAIA. I was actually disgusted and done further digging (stalled Gaia in the mean time).

I read our contract where stated an APR at up to 18% over a total of 8 years? That is absolutely bizarre. Gaia is basically exploiting desperate people. You are basically paying around well over 20k with one round of IVF if successful. That’s probably like £400-£500 per month payments. If unsuccessful and get pregnant with multiple rounds you’re looking at ridiculous amount of debt. Could you imagine doing 5 failed rounds and successful on the 6th round you are probably looking at 100k debt £2,000 per month payments and on top of this you have to pay a premium per every round.

AVOID at all cost. We emailed Lucy asking for an invoice in full to avoid hefty APR and lengthy debt. She ignored it and asked us to set up a payment plan.

After multiple emails they finally sent the invoice of the full amount - during the rest bite period so we avoided any interest fees. We got a loan from the bank and sent it over. Overall cost was 10k however if we stayed and did a payment plan we was looking at 20/30K over a 8 year period? or more with Gaia and a £1,450 premium. That’s just really inhuman and disgrace. Exploiting innocent people who are desperate to start a family. I get it it’s a great business model but super dishonest. Avoid unless it’s the last possible avenue. The poor people who are tied down to a 8 year contract. Just utterly disgraceful.

So please consider getting a loan from your bank with lower interest fees or go direct through your clinics as they do 0% interest loan. Do your research on Gaia before jumping in to anything. Especially you are fertile (same sex couple) it’s not worth it.

Really helpful team responsive to messages and explained everything really well. Great customer service generally everyone feels friendly and supportive.
Good to have the insurance so I know no matter what I can try 3 rounds of IVF and won't have blown all my savings if it doesn't work and will still have money to move onto other options if needed such as donor eggs or adoption.

I’d recommend Gaia to anyone who is planning IVF treatment and is concerned about the end fee. The level of attentiveness from the team who are also very informative and supportive is unmatched and going through such a huge step in life is what you need.

We have just started our IVF journey and when we saw Gaia, we knew it would help take a lot of stress away as it effectively caps the cost of IVF. It was an extremely smooth process and Gaia make sure you fully understood the process and what was included. From our perspective knowing all the medication costs were included and the unlimited embryo transfers put Gaia above other options. Since signing up, they have been regularly checking in and it was really easy to set up the counselling that is included. I would definitely recommend using Gaia if starting IVF.

Gaia have been a god send after my ectopic infertility when we first signed up you would get 12 months to pay cycles back interest free if had baby over time that has change and now get upto 8 years to pay cycles back if successful whuch is even better
Both of my coordinators I have had theses last 2 years as been so amazing reliable and efficient and also very understanding to point can get a good trust bond with the company I wouldn't have got this chance of ivf if wasn't for these guys amazing.

I have had a great experience from day 1 with Gaia! They have always been available with any questions I have had, had multiple phone calls at the beginning to answer all my questions and received lots of information during the process as well.

I was very lucky to conceive my little boy on my first round of IVF, but had it not been for Gaia’s payment plans I simply could not have afforded it! I know some people say it’s cheaper to go direct, but many clinics, including the one I used, do not offer payment plans and you therefore need the money up front. Spreading out the costs is no different to taking a loan for a say a car, or getting a mortgage. There are also a lot of hidden costs when going direct, they might give you a price list of £15k, but there are always hidden extras along the way, with Gaia you avoid this as it’s a set price, and this worked perfectly for me.

I am so grateful for this company and they have continued to be supportive during pregnancy and since my little one was born, even inviting us up to meet them all.

I have had a top tier experience so far. The communication from the very first call has been excellent, and I felt clear on the information I had been given and I always have quick responses to any query.
Communication is so important especially when you are relying on things to be done quickly when you are on a timeline with your fertility clinic, and it was such a relief to know that I didn’t have to worry about this part, and that Gaia did all the clinic liaison.
Each person I have interacted with has been professional, warm and understanding, which makes a difficult process that little bit easier.
Lastly receiving the welcome box was a really lovely gesture, and each item in there was really thought out and so useful.

I found that Lucy and Stella were very supportive through the whole process. It makes the process easier to know that staff have an understanding of fertility and the struggles that come along with it.

Having only one round of IVF funded on the NHS, finding Gaia as a viable option was both a relief and an anxious experience for me. My partner was keen to go ahead from the offset as we didn't have the funds for any IVF to be funded in this country. I was anxious about the repayment scheme and the uncertainty of if/when/how we will achieve this. However, can you really put a price on having a baby?
Gaia have been helpful outlining everything and are responsive in a timely manner with any queries. The premium payments to be paid every five months for starting another round has been a challenge but the alternative is that I probably wouldn't be any closer to having a baby if my partner and I hadn't signed up.

The onboarding process was really smooth, Lucy was really helpful and took the time to have calls with us, answered all our questions, the policy documents were clear and easy to understand and we also had support along the way, the Gaia team were really responsive to emails which was most helpful.

When we joined Gaia we were given a lovely thoughtful welcome pack which was just lovely, and the support we’ve had from Stella has been amazing. I’ve had every email responded to and I was put in touch with an embryologist who was able to answer my questions, advise me on next steps of our treatment cycle didn’t work and gave me some helpful questions in an email that were written down so I could ask my clinic to get the assurance I needed that our treatment cycle was going to give us a good quality embryo for transfer.

I’m so glad I signed up to Gaia, we were unsure for a while but we did our research, spoke to other members I found through forums and everything has been positive so far. It’s taken the pressure off financially, without having to use our credit cards and clear out our savings for 1 treatment cycle and it’s a worry that we might need another cycle but Gaia has made it possible for us to try again if we need to.

I have been with Gaia for a year now, and I honestly couldn’t recommend them enough. They go above and beyond and I literally couldn’t fault them in the slightest. By far the best company I have ever come across, amazing communication, great support and I truly know without the continuous support and help of Gaia I really don’t think I would of carried on with ivf. They have made me and my partner so so happy with the support they give. I honestly could go on for hours singing there praises because honestly I cannot put into words just how great they really are. Nothing is ever too big for Gaia, and I count my lucky stars I found this company. Ivf is stressful and Gaia have took a lot of stress of my hands. I couldn't recommend Gaia highly enough.... They are more than just an insurance company... They are a team of compassionate, helpful and supportive people who really empathise with couples going through IVF! For once we are more than just a number on a piece of paper.

We are having treatment in Greece which adds a layer of complexity but you wouldn't know it when you have someone like Stella managing your application. She is so helpful and always at the end of an email when needed.

I find it comforting knowing that we don't have to worry about paying back any funds until we have a baby in our arms... This takes this pressure off and allows us to just concentrate on getting pregnant and having a successful pregnancy.

I would recommend Gaia to anyone looking at ways of funding their IVF journey. They are more than just a funding option, they are a supportive community too.

My husband and I weren't in a position to be able to pay the full cost of IVF upfront and Gaia was really the only option for us. The option to be able to pay it back over 8 years if you have a child is really helpful to us. I see a few reviews on here moaning about the interest rates but this is the only funding plan that offers long term finance options. You can still opt to pay it all back at once or over the first year which is interest free anyway - this is the best that places like Access Fertility offer but nowhere (other than Gaia) has options for longer time frames. We absolutely wouldn't have been able to afford IVF if Gaia wasn't around. Any loan will incur interest fees anyway so I am not sure why some find this an issue. For us having the option to pay back with interest was a massive positive.

The team at Gaia are extremely helpful, very quick to respond and have a very personable and supportive nature which is hugely beneficial when going through something so stressful. They are always on the end of an email and happy to discuss anything with you and help you with any concerns.

We have also taken advantage of the 12 free counselling sessions, my husband has had counselling with the Gaia therapist and she has been fantastic. I also took advantage of the embryologist session and found this massively helpful too. This is all free of charge, so you are getting way more than just a funding option by being a part of Gaia. They also send you gifts and notes in the post and are just generally there throughout the journey with you.

Other benefits of going with Gaia over someone like Access Fertility is that they cover all your basic medication so you don't have to worry about that, and unlike Access you don't have to transfer all frozen embryos before moving on to another fresh round which means you are more flexible with your decisions. They also have support groups on social media and organise in person meet ups too.

Personally, Gaia would be my recommendation to anyone looking to do IVF whether they can afford the upfront cost or not, it really is an insurance programme and covers you for so many aspects of the journey. It takes out the stress of the uncertain from a financial point of view and supports you in so many other ways too.
