Disappointment - an honest account of my recent shopping experience with Gadgets4Geeks!

I recently purchased a mobile phone case from this business, drawn in by the appealing product images and detailed descriptions on their website.

Unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations due to significant discrepancies between what was advertised and what I actually received.

The product images and descriptions on the website promised a mobile phone case with specific features and design elements. When the item arrived, it was immediately clear that the case was not the same as the one shown online. The look and the functional aspects of the case differed from what had been described, leading to disappointment and frustration.

Upon contacting the business to address this issue, I hoped for a straightforward resolution: either to receive the accurate item I had originally ordered or to be compensated fairly. While the business did process a refund for the purchase price of the incorrect item, they did not offer to replace it with the correct product as advertised.

More disappointing, however, was their refusal to refund the postage and handling costs associated with the transaction, which amounted to $12.99. This meant that despite the refund, I was left out of pocket for the shipping charges and, crucially, still needed to purchase the case I actually wanted from another supplier.

This experience highlights several concerns for prospective customers:

• Inaccurate Product Listings: The images and descriptions on the website were not a true reflection of the product sent, which undermines customer trust.

• Inadequate Resolution: The company refunded the item cost but did not offer to send the correct product or fully reimburse my expenses, falling short of reasonable customer service expectations.

• Out-of-Pocket Expenses: I am left $12.99 out of pocket for postage and handling, with nothing to show for the transaction except wasted time and inconvenience.

While I appreciate that the business refunded the purchase price, the lack of accountability for the inaccurate listing and their unwillingness to cover the full cost of my loss leaves me unable to recommend their service.

If you are considering purchasing from this supplier, be aware that what you see online may not be what you receive, and that you may have little recourse should things go wrong.

For my part, I will be seeking my tech gadgets and accessories elsewhere in the future, and I encourage others to take care and read reviews before making a purchase. A trustworthy supplier should stand behind the accuracy of their product descriptions and ensure that customers are not penalised for the business’s own mistakes!

POOR PRODUCT & POOR SEVICE

I recently purchased a screen protector for my new mobile from Gadgets4Geeks in Sydney Australia for $20+$10 postage. The item turned out to be faulty. This was confirmed by my local mobile store in Melbourne, via email.

I asked for a refund over many emails and phone calls and Gadgets4Geeks rejected my request insisting they wanted to see the product and requested I send back the product at my cost . All this stuffing around for the sake of $20. POOR SERVICE.

Dodgy Company

Brought a screen protector and back shockproof cover for my iPad. Back cover was poor quality and screen protector cracked not long after I put it on. Contacted them about screen protector and they replied quickly but were no help at all. They asked me questions from the beginning and when they didn't get the answers they were looking for they simply stopped communicating with me. I felt like they were trying to lay blame on me from the start and when they couldn't they simply stopped communicating. I was nice and polite but they tried to make me feel like I was in the wrong. Just another company selling poor quality goods and blaming the customer for their lack of quality. First and last time buying from this company.

Denied 30 day return because original lost by AP

Ordered 2 phone cases that never turned up. Waited a bit before contacting as Australia Post was investigating. Okay so they agreed and sent replacements once AP admitted they were lost. By the time they turned up I had decided on new phones so didn't need them. Denied a return because it was past the 30 day return period. I was totally blameless for this as it was their contractor at fault. Will never buy from them again.

Wrong case sent by company and company tries to avoid fixing mistake

I purchased a phone case for a Samsung S21plus and was sent a case that was too small for the phone. I emailed requesting to return the item and also for the company to cover return shipping as I had already paid for shipping for the item. The frontline person who responds to emails seems to think he's some kind of lawyer and running around in semantics saying they won't cover the cost as I've requested a refund. I said I've requested a refund as they've made a mistake but this is apparently considered a change of mind return! Unbelievable! And he kept mansplaining and talking over me on the phone when I tried to explain that they had made a mistake. He also kept saying "as I've explained to you" and yet I couldn't get a straight answer from him that if I did ask for a replacement item what would I have to do with the wrong item I had on hand. He kept saying that there would be instructions on what to do with that item. I don't trust this company. If I returned the item, how will I know if I will get a refund even if I did agree to cover the return shipping? And if I waited to receive the correct item and then followed the instructions to return this item (and I don't know why he can't just tell me what this process is, why do I have to wait for the instructions?) how do I know that I won't again be hit with a shipping cost to return the item? More importantly, how do I know I won't again get an incorrect item? Many companies make mistakes but usually when you let them know, they are apologetic and trying their best to make amends. The same frontline person who responds to emails was bending over backwards in vagueness, rudeness and shifting the blame to the customer that I don't have any confidence the second time around (after all the stress) will be any better. Not a trustworthy company - I have been cheated by them.

Disgraceful customer service

Ordered 2 x screen protectors for my Oppo find x3. They were fitted as per instructions and both failed to stick and as the phone has a bevelled edge the adhesive didn't work. I had previously ordered the screen protectors from another supplier with no issues. Upon contacting gadgets for geeks I was told that there was nothing wrong with their products and there was nothing that could be done.

A dodgy retailer

I wouldn't recommend buying anything from them because on Monday 23rd October 2021 I purchased a 65W Power Supply Charger Adapter for Microsoft Surface Pro 7 / 6 / 5 / Book but I received it damaged so they are refusing to refund me so I would go elsewhere and I wouldn't bother wasting your time with these scammers.

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the review and sorry to hear that.

Just a quick friendly reminder for customers to please contact us direct on 02 8022 5570 if you have an order or product issue.

To help clarify this matter. Matthew did contact us back in Oct 2021 and submitted an image via email of the alleged product damage. Unfortunately we discovered the image had been photoshopped to make it look like the Surface Pro connector was severed from rest of the power cable.

We wish you all the best Matthew.

Regards,
G4G Support.

Owner tries to intimidate people who leave bad reviews.

Bought an iPhone screen protector about 6 months ago which when it arrived was NOT the brand advertised (was a generic brand / no-name brand) and didn’t fit. Simon the owner REFUSED to give me a refund (despite advertising that on his website) and when I reviewed on-line how terrible his service was, he then wanted to deduct “handling” fees and “restocking” fees and g-d knows what else from the refund. Just Terrible Dishonest Service. The owner is a liar. The products are cheap cr@p. He’s basically a scam artist operating as an EBay reseller. Head over to product review and there are hundreds of 1 Star reviews. But what is even worse is what I noticed the other day: how often he responds to the reviews by revealing the full name and location of the customer who left the review in question. So where he can identify the reviewer he tries to use that to intimidate them. Ask yourself, is this guy someone you want anything to do with? He talks about ‘his team’. He’s a 1 man show who got kicked out of his previous industry. He is NOT to be trusted.

Bought a Car Headrest Mount Holder for…

Bought a Car Headrest Mount Holder for Tablets / iPads / Galaxy Tab / Surface

Pretty simple to install, but the claw clips to the headrest snapped off after one hour, not even using ipad. The fastenings to secure the claws into position and the vertical adjustment, all loose and easily come free. The product would only cost a few dollars to buy retail. Not worth the expensive price tag and totally useless. I was told to send back at my expense with no refund, just so they could examine it. Why? and loose more money. Note: other people with same issues.
