I got a prepaid sim once I arrived in Germany. I had it for one year without any problem. It was easy to get the prepaid sim. Never had a complaint. Coverage is good in cities. I never went anywhere far from city so I have no comment on the coverage outside of the city. Highly recommend it. Customer support is friendly as far as my interactions went with them.
They locked an elderly customer in a contract for 250 MB of data for 10 euros per month
We are preparing to officially complain about this company to the authorities for predatory behaviour. My elderly mother is a customer of Freenet since 2015. For the past few months, she's been hitting her data limits, and has paid for additional data each month.
We've looked into her plan and found out that she's paying 10 Euros a month for a 250 MB/month. She called, trying to get a small upgrade of her data plan to limits that are more standard nowadays, but was told it's not possible. And since she accepted a "loyalty offer" a year ago that gave her a few months without fee, she's locked into her contract until March next year.
At the same time, Freenet has an now offer of 20 GB for 10 Euros per month. Freenet is charing my retired mother the same price for about 1% of that data, and is refusing to even just bump her up to 500 MB, which would be sufficient for her. She's just being met with a "well those are your terms, nothing we can do". This seems super predatory, letting someone with data terms that are 8 years old locked in the plan, while plans have increased so much more in data. All these offers were made to my mother over the phone, and they profited from her limited understanding of technology to fraud her.

One is more for them!! I ordered a data simcard from them. At first, its period started immediately! It was for more than 10 days ago. But the funny part is that I have not got the simcard yet!! I couldn’t reach them after several calls. The most funny part is that there is no email address to ask them!! You can’t find!!! Finally I installed their app and used their whatsapp channel. I wrote everything and sent. What I got as answer… the WhatsApp channel is not available!!! So I just pay for nothing but getting angry!!
Update:
I went to a freenet shop in Plauen city and told them that from freenet nobody answered me. They just gave me the same hot line number that I had. They didn’t help me at all!!!! It seems in the freenet stores the just sale mouse and keyboard!!!

Its the most worst network i have ever…
Its the most worst network i have ever used in the whole world, in the first month they took 50 euros and in the second month they ask for 44 euros more, while my contract was for flat rate of 15euros its disgusting, that suddenly i can’t call anyone i can’t use internet, in the mid of the month and specially when i was not at home that’s so disappointing and the customer service representative picked up the call after 1hour and said that i will receive a call tomorrow what about the day i’m calling on should i spend it without sim without handy or what.

Charged €100 travelling in Europe without using phone AT ALL!
We have UK mobiles as we are based in Ramstein Germany so only use the German one as a spare to pair with our son’s epilepsy watch. We travelled through Switzerland to Liechtenstein today with it in a suitcase in the car boot/trunk. When we arrived at the hotel we had 2 texts saying we had been charged €100 for using the phone. We didn’t even touch it! And we were told it could be used all over Europe.

Just a useless pay more but please contract with direct network i made a contract from last 4 months but my but Internet is not working in 98% of germany when i contacted them they said i have change the network operator i need to pay 29 euro for sim card and my previous package was 38gb for 18 euro but now they offer me 12 gb with 20 euro as you kow its there fault not mine but i have to pay them for their fault as well i will make a page about freenet and review them i will spend money from my pocket to review this useless website
