A fantastic company

If you want service from a company this is the company to do business with. From placing an order through to getting the correct product Floodkit is the company. I bought 6 air brick covers to stop flood water getting into the house. Unfortunately the the plates I ordered did not fit, my air bricks were plastic. I sent an email to Floodkit, they called said no problem, they asked what the problem was, I told them and sent them a photo. They sent me different plates to fit. Absolutely brilliant.

Quality product, easy to install and remove, great support from the manufacturer.

I was looking for an airbrick cover which did not have permenant fixtures, like a frame which was fixed by screws to the wall, both for visual appearance and because of door frames and pipes which leave limited space.
The floodkit airbrick cover is the size of the airbrick itself and the only sign that they are ready to install is two plastic wall plugs that fit in the holes of the brick itself.
Fitting is simple and if advice is needed I found the company response rapid and helpful.
I had two slightly different sizes of airbrick, 2 by 8 hole and 2 by 9 hole and Floodkit made an adaption to their product which worked a treat, at no additional cost per unit.
The product itself is robust with a full rubber type seal and a stainless steel plate. This plate flexes with the rubber seal to accomodate imperfections in the brick.
Fixings have a metal and rubber washer which seals the holes through which the fixings pass.
Comes with 10mm wall plugs and if the holes on the bricks are tight, I found 8mm work just as well.
After sales service excellent, I was short of a washer and received a number of spares and some spare fixings two days after I pointed this out.

Airbrick Cover

Airbrick Cover: The product I ordered is well made and looks like it will do the job. However, despite having modern airbricks installed (not the old imperial size ones), the fixing screws supplied weren`t sufficiently long enough to hold the covers on tightly. They needed to be at least another 15mm longer. As a result I had to buy another longer set of stainless steel bolts at upwards of £20. Surely I`m not the only customer to have had this issue if I have a standard airbrick? Also, and this is only a minor issue, but of all the plastic handles supplied, only one had a black cover cap to cover the bolt head.

Addendum: In response to your reply, mortar was not the issue regarding the fitting. I did explain to your sales agent that the airbrick holes were very slightly recessed (about 3-5mm), and this appears to have caused the issue. As these are modern airbricks I was therefore suprised you hadn`t had this issue previously.

With regards to the black caps, I`d naturally assumed they were cover caps to make the handle look uniform and finished off, which they appear to be.

Thank you for the explanation.

Hello John

We are sorry that you had an issue with the airbrick covers and apologise for our part in any miscommunication which took place in our exchange of emails about this application. You are correct that it is not unreasonable to expect these covers and fixings to be appropriate for standard airbricks in standard applications – and indeed they are.

Revisiting the photographs which were provided to us, it is apparent that the mortar around the airbricks encroaches onto the airbrick itself – hence your observation that longer fixings were necessary - to accommodate the unevenness. An alternative would have been to remove the excess mortar from the airbricks before applying the cover.

We should have offered to provide the longer bolts through ourselves. Buying small quantities of good quality fixings from specialist suppliers can work out relatively expensive.

The black cover cap is unnecessary for the bolt head to operate and should have been removed by us. Sorry we missed one!

Floodkit went above and beyond.

After some houses at the bottom of our road were flooded this winter (fortunately not us), due to our local council neglecting to clear the local drains I decided it was better to take matters into my own hands and look into what I could do myself to protect my home.
After quite an extensive search I got in contact with Hugh and Max at Floodkit.
As our house had been extended significantly over the years we had a variety of different sized air bricks, some of which required Floodkit to manufacture bespoke covers.
Both Hugh and Max visited my home to ensure that all of the air brick covers were correctly fitted and advised me on other measures that we needed to take, such as ensuring we had the right equipment to prevent floodwater ingress into our home via the downstairs toilet and shower.
The quality of service far exceeded my expectations and I can’t recommend Floodkit highly enough.
Thank you
