Do Not Sign Up
Do Not Sign Up! Even for a free trial. It's an absolute nightmare. I was locked out of my account, however, to contact any form of help you need to log in to your account. The lack of communication was simply unacceptable, as was talking in circles with their various AI support. I still haven't received any help.

Hidden charging
Be careful because they will change your subscription tier without ever asking or sending the invoices to you, it will just come out of your account.
The product is not worth paying for, if you are halfway decent with free AI tools you can recreate this product for free very easily and arguably better. Support is also not helpful and I guess that's part of their business model because their product is fundamentally without a USP today.
Looks like Credential Theft
Looks like Credential Theft! User can open an account on any web app that allows oAuth, by being logged in the browser, opening the new app and selecting "Sign in with Google" and selecting your logged in user. That's it.
Websites that are stealing your credentials open a popup, pretend they are Google and ask you to fill in our username and password.
This web app is behaving like the later. Maybe this is how apps look when they are built by an AI purely with no real developers. Maybe this "Credentials harvesting" behavior is normal for those apps.
To make things worse you cannot contact support. The chat-bot instructs you that you have to have an account to write to support. Very well this is how we contact your support then :D
WORST TOOL WORST SUPPORT
WORST TOOL, WORST SUPPORT
I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO ELABORATE MORE. THE BOT DOES NOT WORK, THE SUPPORT DOES NOT ANSWER ...
SO MANY TOOLS ARE WAY BETTER THAN THIS
Absolutely terrible customer support.
Absolutely terrible customer support.
I was on an annual plan, I had a $2,000 credit on the account.
I had a failed payment issue, I tried to pay for the invoice.
The app would not let me pay and so they deleted access to our account and then would not give me access to the credit.
Reliable service with a dedicated team
Really good note taker, so easy to use and integrate with Teams and other platforms. I have used several note takers, and in my experience, Fireflies has been the most accurate, consistent, and reliable. The best thing about them is that they seem to have a small dedicated team who are quick to fix any issues or listen to feature requests. I have encountered small bugs here and there, as you do with any platform, though I have found considerably more with other notetakers like Otter. The team are extremely quick to respond and get on top of any errors or help you if you need. I would recommend Fireflies for any company or individual looking for a notetaker!
Great Summaries and User friendly
The science-based summaries are given accurately and I completely trust it. Good AsfkFred and chat bot facility with quick response,
Most intrusive and annoying … using dark UI pattern
The most intrusive and annoying 'service'. From the 'uninvited bot in any meeting to the spam emails. Trying to log into my account to delete and I get the option Login as Customer or Login as Fireflies?? Then, once logged in, I get an offer for a 7 day trial – can't decline, can't close that pop up window, so only option is to agree to the 7 day trial? I just want to get rid of it, stop wasting my time, don't make it so hard.
The free plan is extremely limited and…
The free plan is extremely limited and only includes very basic features. Most of the functionality is locked behind paid tiers, which makes the free version feel more like a trial than a usable product.
The product is well designed
The product is well designed, easy to understand and accurate in summarizi g meeting. Impressed with its capabilities It still has a long wsy to go
Great support, but this felt like being scammed.
Great support! But by going on the pro plan, they activated AI ad credits. I would have to pay up to 50€ a month extra for. They had auto enabled the ad credits.
They were not able to make a refund, although, they had charged for something I had tried to cancel.
Poor way of running af business.
I dont like to be rude. But this felt like being scammed.
Cumbersome interface for participants to review notes
Fireflies.ai created friction from the first interaction. After a meeting with a contractor, it automatically emailed me a teaser of the notes. When I tried to access the full transcript using Google sign in, the system threw an error. I was then forced to answer multiple onboarding questions just to view content that was already generated from my own meeting. That is unacceptable.
If you plan to share transcripts with clients or partners who are not existing users, expect frustration and wasted time. The access process is clunky, unreliable, and user hostile. I would not recommend using this tool in any client facing workflow.
Unreasonable log in and calendar access demands
As a client of someone who has Fireflies.ai as their meeting notetaker, I cannot view the meeting minutes beyond 4-5 bullets unless I log in with either my Google or Microsoft account to Fireflies AND give it full access to my calendar. There is NO need for it to have access to my calendar, and really no need for me to even have to log in, as the person to whom the minutes were to be sent.
Helpful tool for recruiters!
Fireflies is a great platform for recruiters! Being able to connected it with Google has been very helpful so that important calls can be recorded and transcription of those calls are then made available to refer back to. I no longer need to worry about feverishly typing away during a meeting! Fireflies takes care of it for me :)
I rate FireFiles 4 out of 5
I rate FireFiles 4 out of 5. I use it both at work and at university, mainly for recording meetings, creating transcriptions, and organizing notes, and in this area it performs its tasks very well. The quality of the transcriptions and the stability of the recordings genuinely improve working with audio materials. However, a drawback is the relatively high price and a somewhat chaotic, unintuitive user panel, which can be discouraging during intensive use. It is also worth noting that the competition is developing rapidly — ChatGPT is starting to offer or announce recording and automatic transcription features, while providing a clearer interface and broader content-handling capabilities. Despite these reservations, FireFiles remains a solid tool, but it needs UX refinement and a better justification of its pricing.
Will constantly try and take payments…
Will constantly try and take payments £150+ plus even after cancellation, and emails confirming cancellation. Customer service is automated and hard to speak to anyone. Avoid, there is far better software available.
Questionable ethics. Be very wary of this company
Be very wary of this company. I signed up in mid-2023 for free trial due to recommendation by a friend but I got to use it ever once.
After 5 months, I realised I was charged 50 credits for every single month - despite not ever used a single minute.
While I understand FireFlies is right to charge customers for the automated subscription after free trial, shouldn’t a gentle email nudge to check in with the customer who has used ZERO minutes of your products over consecutive months be helpful? Other SaaS companies practice this hence I was shocked to be experiencing this from FireFlies.
FireFlies can be #1 in terms of technical capabilities but I won't ever give my business and recommendations to companies with questionable ethics. I have been using Fathom since.
FYI- I wrote in to Support and here's their response:
"Upon checking our logs, you subscribed to our 7-day Trial of AskFred on Jun 11. Since this was not cancelled, it was renewed and you were charged for the fee. These fees are non-refundable.
Also, I have checked and there were no previous contacts from you requesting for the cancellation of your subscription. No worries! Your subscription is now cancelled and you will no longer be charged for the fee."
A must use plugin for all meetings.

Pro plan removes access I had on Free, with unclear restrictions
I’ve used Fireflies in my previous company and loved it! At my new job, I started on the free plan and was able to access transcripts and recordings without issue.
After upgrading to the Pro plan, I suddenly lost the ability to play recordings or even view transcripts. Instead, every meeting shows only two options: delete or upgrade. This makes no sense. I’m already on Pro.
Support later explained that I had exceeded a meeting storage limit. But once you exceed this limit, you cannot listen to recordings or view transcripts to decide what to delete. You are essentially asked to delete meetings blindly! Plus I could access my recordings for free before I upgraded.
This is a major usability flaw. You cannot manage storage without access to the content you’re being asked to remove.
Another issue. I upgraded specifically to analytics, only to discover that meaningful analytics appear to be treated as an additional paid layer, not clearly included in Pro. The Unlimited AI summaries that one is supposed to get in Pro doesn't work because of the design flaw.
Customer support was frustrating and repetitive. Responses focused on closing the chat rather than resolving the issue. I had to repeatedly ask for escalation, and explanations were given only after prolonged back-and-forth.
Summary of issues:
. Pro plan has more restrictive behavior than the free plan
. No way to review content before forced deletion
. Analytics access is unclear and feels upsold
. Support is reactive, not solution-oriented
Fireflies has potential, but the current Pro experience feels misleading and poorly designed. I would not recommend upgrading unless these limitations are clearly fixed and communicated.
Shady billing, inaccessible account, and zero accountability
This is one of the worst SaaS experiences I’ve had.
Fireflies AI charged my card $29 and then effectively locked me out of my own account because it’s tied to a work email I no longer have access to. There is no practical way to cancel the subscription without logging in, which is impossible in this situation. That’s either grossly incompetent design or an intentional dark pattern.
A legitimate company would allow identity verification and cancellation through support. Instead, you’re stuck paying unless they feel like responding. Billing customers while denying them control over their account is unacceptable.
This feels predatory, not professional. If your email situation changes, expect friction, wasted time, and unnecessary charges. I do not trust this company with my money, my time, or my data.
Avoid unless you enjoy fighting to cancel a subscription you didn’t intend to keep.
