Did not have a good experience.

Did not have a good experience.
Mostly to do with the staff working there.
My supper took ages to arrive and was cold.
Breakfast was worse.
Dog friendly? Not really.
Room was nice and clean but the shower was damaged.
The Hotel front is magnificent, just sad I did not get the experience inside.

BEWARE ALL GLUTEN INTOLERANCES Stayed there for a few nights at the…

Stayed there for a few nights at the end of October 2024. Perfectly placed for sightseeing in the town which is a bonus. Carpark very cramped and spaces at a premium. Our suite was clean with great bathroom fixtures. The bed huge and mattress firm but the pillows a bit too saggy and lumpy.
Worse was the restaurant at breakfast especially if you require Gluten Free food. The staff were helpful but communication with the kitchen not that great. The continental buffet offered little packets of gf cornflakes as seemingly the only option available apart from plain yoghurt and a bowl of fruit compote, so very lacklustre in my case. No bread or cake type offerings in sight. Instead I chose a full English with gf sausages. Excellent! However, this arrived but with sausages a crispy dark brown on the outside, soggy raw meat in the middle!! The waiting staff apologetically scraped away the sausages from my plate leaving me to eat the rest. More sausages arrived now a completely different type/consistency and having been split open lengthways probably as a protest by the kitchen for me to see they were actually cooked!? These were served long after I’d finished what was left on my plate. No toast or bread was offered with the meal either. It was only later I realised the fried potato patty initially served and subsequently I had eaten, was probably not gf. Since I have been diagnosed with Gluten Ataxia rather than being a Coeliac I have long term and not immediate effects from eating gluten. This offering was expensive for what it was never mind dangerous!
Also of note - we were designated a specific time slot to attend breakfast yet had to wait an inordinate amount of time to be seated.
On top of it all, we thankfully spotted we had been charged incorrectly for a second breakfast when settling our final bill at the end of the stay!
No way should anyone with a gluten intolerance feel comfy with the lack of knowledge and expertise at this hotel. We ate further breakfasts successfully in town at the many more cheaper yet more generous and certainly more knowledgeable eateries.
Please update your breakfast gluten free offerings and give the breakfast kitchen ‘chefs’ lessons on what actually contains gluten to make it crispy (ie yes even in potato offerings) but more especially on how to safely cook frozen meat thoroughly.

Poor experience and zero customer service

We booked here for one night as it was advertised as dog friendly. The room was small, the bathroom door was damaged, the toilet flush was broken which I repaired myself, the room was stifling hot which rendered sleep impossible and there was a major discrepancy with the invoice. I emailed the Feathers twice on 15/6/24 and again on 19/6/24. They have not replied to either email. I have forwarded my complaint to the owner of the hotel and await their response. Do not stay here

Was overcharged on the room rate and there were lots of extras on our bill that we thought were included, the staff were unapologetic about this in a matter of fact manner and said we should contact hotels. Com instead, no good will gesture was considered therefore I will not stay here again!!

Super mini break

Booked a Travelzoo package including B&B, afternoon tea and evening meal.
On arrival warm greeting from reception, full of smiles, good vibe , old world charm etc.
Afternoon tea, fine , good quality fare etc
Room … superb, newly renovated, clean , excellent bed, shower room, loads of hot water and large fluffy towels. In addition fresh ground coffee and tea in the room.
Dinner… Sunday menu … super value, large portions, excellent quality and very attentive staff. OK … a little wait for the courses due to unavailability of staff due to Covid etc.
Breakfast…. Again very good quality for the Full English as well as the Continental
Overall… the staff make the hotel , all are focused on the customer, nothing to much trouble – excellent service from everyone
Enjoyable short break… will return

Feathers Hotel Ludlow... Unacceptable!!... Death Update...

We used to be frequent visitors for lunch at The Feathers Hotel in Ludlow.

On our last visit while we were waiting for our order, the guy behind the bar (I think he's the manager) started arguing with a lady about accounts or something... after this died down, he left the bar to put logs on the fire in the other room. When he came back he served me with another drink with all the dirt/soot from the fireplace all over his hands.

When our food did finally arrive, i was served by a young man who had loads of open weeping cold-sores all around his mouth! This is totally unacceptable for anyone with Herpes to be working or waiting in a food environment... don;t they know how contagious Herpes is!!!!

I'm glad to say we have never been back there!!!

UPDATE!!!
A woman died in July 2017 from contracting legionnares desease after staying at The Feathers Hotel in Ludlow. The Hotel had to be shut down whilst extensive works were carried out!! Another person contracted the disease in April 2017, but fortunately they recovered. Well I'm certainly glad we have never been back. I think the writing was on the cards!
