I got a loan for like $44K… I paid…
I got a loan for like $44K… I paid $1000 a month for approx 20 months. $0 of that went to the principal. SO on a $44K Fairstone profited $20,000.
THEN when I tried to close out the loan, they wanted another 6 months interest (approx $6000)…
So in ONE YEAR, Fairstone got their original $44K back PLUS $26,000 in interest. lol
F*ING SCAAAAAM.
Also they hound you weekly with calls trying to offer you more money.
They should be shut down. DO NOT GET A LOAN WITH FAIRSTONE

This company is in the field of its own. It beats lining up at the bank hoping and asking if you can get approved. When you could do it right over the phone in your underwear having a coffee or anything like that from the comfort of your own home. And the rates they have is very comparable to other financial institutions if not better than some. Also the period they give you to pay back the loan, is worth checking out. And comparing two other financial institutions. Fairstone is a company that I will and would suggest to others to try.

Walmart Mastercard horrible new cardholder experience
For anyone with new or potential Walmart Mastercard accounts be aware that when you receive your card and paperwork, no matter what your paperwork says that amount you are allowed for cash withdrawals is zero for the first five months. It took me three days, 6 trips to the bank and 7 phone calls to customer service in which they require you to be put on hold twice in addition to the initial wait time to find out I could not do a cash withdrawal despite what my contract says. Every time I called to unlock my account again after being locked out for attempting a cash withdrawal they said they removed the lock and I could now do the cash withdrawal. The first time it happened the customer service rep should have known what the seventh one new about no cash withdrawals allowed. They just change the rules of your contract at will and don't inform their costumer service people I guess. Also customer service follows a stringent script which takes a lot of time to verify your identity even if you have called multiple times in the same couple of hours. Worst experience with a creditor I have ever had.
Small loan turned in 15k in debt from interest hikes
I started with a simple $2,000 loan for a couch. During the COVID pandemic, while I was on leave and only making 60% of my normal pay, Fairstone contacted me to offer more money. I accepted the offer hoping to get help with my credit card bills, but that decision completely ruined my finances.
Your staff never clearly explained how the interest rates would work, the hidden fees, or the harsh penalties for a late payment. When my leave pay was delayed and I missed just one payment, my monthly bill suddenly jumped almost $1000 from around $200. The interest rate when from below 10% to almost 40%.
When I called to explain my situation, nobody cared. I was dealing with delayed pay, a severe car accident, and eventually losing my job, but your team offered zero empathy or help. This tanked my credit and forced me to take out payday loans just to afford groceries.
Because of your massive interest hikes, my original $2,000 loan turned into $15,000 of debt. I no longer even own the couch, I had to sell it to help pay the interest hike. I had to spend almost 6 years in a debt consolidation program to fix a problem your company caused in a matter of months. Targeting vulnerable people during a pandemic and trapping them in debt is awful. Everyone I know warns others to stay away from Fairstone because you use hidden fees and interest increases to keep people in debt forever. You need to start being clear with your customers upfront and offer real help for people going through hard times, instead of burying them financially.
