Toxic Environment and toxic manager
My experience working at this company was extremely difficult and disappointing.
During my time there, I was undergoing epilepsy treatment, and I did not feel supported in relation to my health needs. In day-to-day work, I experienced repeated negative interactions with colleagues, including behaviour that felt undermining and dismissive. One senior colleague in particular would frequently question and challenge me in a way I found excessive and unprofessional, while I observed that others did not appear to be treated in the same way in similar situations.
I also experienced behaviour that I found inappropriate in relation to my health condition. On one occasion, after raising concerns about being affected by static shocks from electronic equipment and asking whether protective gloves could be considered, I was told “you’re in the wrong profession,” which I found very discouraging. The situation escalated further in front of another colleague, who reacted in a way that felt mocking, including making a comment along the lines of “try not to die,” followed by laughter. I found this extremely upsetting and unprofessional.
When I raised these concerns with my line manager, I did not feel that appropriate action was taken. I was told the issues would be addressed, but I did not see any meaningful follow-up or resolution.
At the same time, I was given a very heavy workload, including multiple large tasks being assigned within a single day without support from colleagues despite requests for assistance.
I also raised concerns about pay after remaining on the same salary for over a year. My manager agreed that I should be considered for a pay increase and said this would be raised with HR. However, after a period of no updates, I was later informed that my fixed-term contract would not be renewed. This came shortly after discussions about pay progression, which left me feeling misled. I was also told that the decision had been known internally for some time prior to my being informed.
I later became aware that at least one other colleague on a similar fixed-term arrangement remained employed, which added to my concerns about consistency in how decisions were communicated.
Overall, I found the working environment unsupportive, poorly managed, and damaging to my wellbeing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend working here.
