ev.energy works well and is easy to program for smart charging. I’ve used it ever since leasing our first plug in hybrid.

Excellent Service and Great Team!
I'm so glad I switched to ev.energy. The service has been fantastic and the app is really easy to use for managing my EV charging.
What really stands out is their customer support. I've had a few questions since I started, and the team has always responded super fast and been incredibly helpful. It's clear they care about their customers and are dedicated to providing a top-notch experience.
I highly recommend ev.energy to any EV driver looking for a smart and reliable charging solution. Keep up the great work!

So easy to navigate. I especially like how the cost of charging is displayed in a very straightforward format displaying actual cost.

Ev always keeps you updated i love the new live view while charging.

Using the ev app is so easy and simple. It's a great tool to use but you also get rewarded for using smart charging (off peak). Every 30 smart chargers triggers a reward that you can choose. I always choose a £5 Amazon gift card and it's sent instantly. A great app. Extremely happy

Am very happy with the service I get from ev.energy and how it works in the three years I’ve been with them I’m very happy

The app itself is buggy, it complains it loses connection with the charger and the vehicle, despite both being accessible over the network. It charges in small 1% bursts randomly, which is awful for the battery. Honestly, it's stuff like this that will prevent many car owners taking up EVs. It's not good enough, not by a long shot!

I just installed ev.energy to use with my Tesla a few days ago. I have Edison and Clean Power Alliance for my energy provider and supplier respectively. On day 2, it started charging during my peak pricing hours. Those hours are from 4pm to 9pm every day, and on Thursday at about 6pm when I plugged in, charging began immediately. Without this app, charging would have started at 9pm using the scheduling I can enable in the Tesla app. I then deleted all ev.energy pairing to the car, deleted the account, and deleted the ev.energy app. Never will I use an app with such a blatant error!

The ev.energy app has become completely unreliable. After the recent update (v3.18.0), I was locked out of my account with no way to access charging features. There was no prior warning, and the only communication was a vague message saying not to update – which arrived too late. Even worse, users were told not to contact support, leaving us completely stranded. My charger is okay when it doesn't lose signal, but I regret choosing a product tied to this app. It’s shocking that something this critical can break so easily and take days to fix. EV drivers deserve better.

A shocking app. When it works which is rare then it's great, but when it doesn't work which is regularly then you can't actually use it until you wait for customer service to get back to you which can take days. Our WAEV charger is great but I wish I didn't go with them anymore as we have to deal with this app!!
Horrid app! The customer service lady who helped me was super nice.
However the app is flawed. It was making my car charge for a few seconds and then stop every single time. All because of some glitch in software or system. And half the time my car would not charge overnight! It was a mess.. they tried to help me. I gave up and took away the permission.
This will destroy your car’s battery. Stay away. Utility companies are too dumb to understand. Like Sonoma Clean Power!
Only gave them 1 star as I had to select to move on to the review, after several weeks I am still no further forward with my wall box being able to facilitate off peak charging. emails and calls are not replied or answered.
Avoid this company at all costs, the customer service is nil.

This app is a complete failure. The so-called “smart charging” feature with Octopus Agile is a joke—charging starts at fixed times no matter the price, causing me to pay far more for electricity. EV Energy’s support team is useless, offering no solutions, no timeline for fixes, and zero accountability.
To make things worse, features I used to rely on, like scheduling, have vanished. This app has turned managing my SyncEV charger into a nightmare. Avoid this app at all costs—it’s unreliable, frustrating, and backed by a company that doesn’t care about its customers.
-------Update on 11 August 2025---------
Hi Chris,
Thank you for finally replying — after 9 months — I really appreciate it. However, I have to point out a few things.
You mentioned that “many members of the team” contacted me to explain the situation. In reality, the communication I received was often impolite and at times outright rude. This left me feeling more frustrated rather than helped.
Yes, the problem is now fixed — but the fact remains that it took 9 months for you to reply here, and during that time the app, provided by BG SyncEV in partnership with ev.energy, had bugs that made key functions unusable. If a feature is broken or unreliable, it is standard, responsible practice to hold back the update or disable the function until it works properly, instead of leaving users with a non-functioning feature. This is a very basic and normal process in software release management.
The problem wasn’t just “Octopus changed something.” It was that the app stopped delivering the functions you advertise, and for months there was no proper fix, no clear timeframe, and no accountability — just a back-and-forth between companies telling me to contact the other. As a customer, I should not have to manage that.
It’s good that you’ve responded now, but I hope BG SyncEV will reflect on how this situation was handled, both in terms of customer service and in ensuring that software updates work for the users they’re meant to serve.

App couldn’t cope with two different named vehicles and would only charge our fully electric car with the amount of charge for our smaller hybrid. The solution appears to have been to remove both cars from the app - so what use is the app?
On a positive note, EV Energy did respond to our issues within a day and sought to find a solution - although their preferred route was to remove one of the cars from the app.

Customer service is lacking (and that's being generous). Fairly certain talking to a bot all the time. Been without connection between car and wall unit for about 4 days so missing out on cheap rate charging. Car is perfectly fine as proven when connecting to other units. All EV seem to say is check with installer / nothing wrong with unit. They really need some humans at the end of the chat/email or at least offer a call back service to troubleshoot in real time.
Couldnt use my charger for 4 days - issue originally mis-diagnosed by EV Energy who advised me to
call out the installers but there was nothing wrong with install! Problem was their own system locking out the charger. Eventually agreed to reimburse the cost of the callout but never actioned. Impossible to contact - emailing support is useless. You cannot phone them. AVOID THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!
As of Jan 2024, they don't allow leased Tesla's to smart charge.
DO NOT BUY A ROLEC CHARGER THAT SUPPORTS EV ENERGY APP IF YOU HAVE A TESLA ON LEASE.
ABSOLUTE NO NO!
If I could give less than 1 star I would...
I have a tesla model Y, The EV app does not allow Telsa to smart charge IF the car is a lease vehicle. EV energy request to set up a 'third party access key' but as a lease owner you cant do this despite having access to the full Tesla app.
SO ANY CHARGER THAT USES EV ENERGY APP TO MONITOR WILL NOT WORK WITH A LEASE TESLA TO SMART CHARGE!!!!!!
It really is that simple.
Excellent Home Wall Pod for EV Charging. Compact and well designed with supporting app.
