Terrible experience with Europcar – trying to charge for invisible damage
We rented a car from Europcar for our holiday, and everything seemed fine… until we returned it.
At drop-off, the staff claimed we had scratched one of the wheels. The supposed “damage” was invisible.
We even showed a photo of the alleged damage to another Europcar employee, and they couldn’t identify it either. That says it all.
Of course, the scratch is not visible in the video we took when we picked up the car – the car was wet, like most rental cars often are, making it impossible to notice anything even if there had been something.
This felt like a cheap trick to squeeze money out of tourists. Instead of a smooth end to our trip, we left feeling frustrated and cheated. What should have been a relaxing holiday ended with a bitter taste thanks to Europcar.
Be warned – take detailed photos and videos, and maybe bring a microscope too.
