AVOID

Budget/Avis Dubrovmik airport fraudulently charged us for insurance that we did not ask for. We already had insurance. They then lied and said they had discussed this with us. DO NOT rent a car with these crooks. The fact that Budget continue to allow this to happen is a disgrace.

Overcharged in Nashua, NH

Car rental was booked weeks/months in advance in Nashua, NH, but no car available when I got there. The employee said a smaller car was coming in 10 minutes that he said was reserved for another, but that he would give me. With a bad attitude, he rushes me through the paperwork and charges me double the amount due to the deposit. Needing the car I signed the papers, thinking I will get the deposit back. Nope. Apparently, that was not the deposit, but he charged me extra for insurance (which I did not need), and a consession fee (without reason). Never going there again!
However, I have rented with Budget in other States, in which I was very pleased. Don’t trust the budget in Nashua, NH!

Budget in Dubrovnik Airport charged me…

Budget in Dubrovnik Airport charged me for insurance, theft protection and more which I did nor ask for. At the counter they asked me if I needed insurance and I said no, explaining I already had insurance covdrage.

They now refuse to refund me my money. They are thieves and scoundrels. They are counting on me giving up. DO NOT USE BUDGET CAR RENTAL

We rented a Suburban for 4 weeks on…

We rented a Suburban for 4 weeks on July 3rd (LA - Denver). On pick-up we were told that they didn't have a suburban, but a much smaller car. Closing time approaching, office closed on July 4th, 25 people in line, we accepted a smaller car (no refund, car prepaid). Smaller car with CO license plates parked next to two surbubans!
Car picked up by spouse to renter, we were asked to show drivers license and credit card. We came home facing an extra bill (on top of what we had already paid) - an extra US$ 2889,90 "package charges; @non pkg items and one way fee" (last already paid one time). Never Budget, never prepaid again!

when I gave the car back, without saying anything , they charged an extra 200 € for a scratch that wasn’t there when I gave it back! and on which I rode only 40 km. Cheating en scam. So good advice take a photos with date en time.

The WORST experience

The WORST experience, They couldn’t find reservation when I showed up at LAX office and claimed that I made a mistake…until they found it (by luck) and had to swallow their own incompetence. Then,before returning the vehicle, we visited the beach, and because of grains of sand on the mats, they claimed a cleaning fee of $125.00…that’s a damn thorough vacuum 😳

Abuse of customer trust

"I strongly discourage renting a car from this company, and I recommend choosing alternatives. They provided a vehicle of very low quality considering the price I paid. On October 18, I paid 500 euros at Venice Marco Polo Airport with the expectation of renting a standard car for a six-day period. However, I received a subpar car that lacked basic amenities like Bluetooth and a cell phone charger. This left us unable to enjoy music during our trip. This experience felt like a clear case of fraud. It's disappointing that a company like Avis, operating under the Budget sector, offers such a vehicle at the price they charge. It is undeniably inadequate and disappointing."

Just no....

Booked a car for 12.30 i Dublin, as we have a deadline. It is now 14.30, still haven't seen the car....
If you have plans, find another company..... If you have plenty of time and would like to wait for hours - go ahead....

Warning. Do not use Budget!

Do not use Budget. They cheat, lie and charge you for extras you have not agreed on. Afterwards it is almost hopeless to get through to customer service.

Really bad experience

Really bad experience. I rented cars all over the world. This was really bad.
Not the car we where promised. Ok they are allowed to give similar. The car we got wasn’t even close.
The car we got was Methan gas. The car had a 10 liter petrol E5/10. We couldn’t get methan on any gas stations in Italy. We asked in our hotel to find. Nobody even knew this kind of fuel. Which mean we only could go 110km per tank. Ran out of gas on the highway of course.
We called Budget for help. Their reply was to go to the place we hired the car. How to ? They wouldn’t help. I’m sure they got a nice deal where they bought these Seat cars as they are a not worth renting to tourists. But how can Budget give this to tourists as a bad exchange for another car we rented ???? Worst part is they won’t help. We called office several times. It’s not that I’m inexperienced in cars. I’m a former rally racer. The car was out of the Methan when picked up in Rome. I know we should check but I didn’t even know they had cars had cars running on this rare fuel. I’m sure the guys delivered the car before us had same issues.

Customer service lacks!!

I usually drive my own car, but stepson+wife had the use of it this week as a wedding present.

I needed a car Wednesday so I rented one at the Copenhagen City station. It was quite cheap (for Denmark), but only included 100 km - for everything over that I had to pay 1.56 DKK/km. I figured out it was cheaper to pay rent for three days as I needed to drive apx. 300 km.

I told them I would return it Thursday - was that a problem? Not at all, but the contract would be closed, and I would have to pay for the extra km at full price.

I COULD NOT RETURN THE CAR BEFORE TIME UNLESS I WANTED TO PAY EXTRA!!

The car had to be sitting by my home (luckily I could get a three-day parking permit to the private parking lot of the building I live in) for two fecking days and be of no use. I didn't use it, as that would add to the km and I didn't really need it.

Avis' company Budget Car SERIOUSLY needs a new IT-system.

As it happens, the first car screamed for oil two km from the rental station. The original rental station didn't have any left so I had to drive to the airport to get another. I mean - this happens. That was sort of ok. It was only 5 km extra.

BUT....

When I went to return the car Friday they looked at my accounting and wanted 584 DKK!!! The contract said 147 DKK (I already paid 474 DKK).

They had added a fee for picking up the next one at the airport. And perhaps for returning the first car at a different station.

It took me around 20 minutes to get it settled. All in all I spent perhaps 45 minutes in that office renting and returning the damn car. My normal hourly fee is 800 DKK plus VAT.

Also: I drove 290 km. My own car would be able to do that on 12-15 l of petrol. I had to pour 20+ l into this thirsty beast to fill it.

THEY HADN'T GIVEN ME A FULL TANK!!

Also: The location specific information that you link to is a PDF-file where the last 5-10 characters on each line are not included. The guy on the phone couldn't find one with the full text when I called the Danish number last week.

It won't be AVIS/Budget Car the next time. That's for sure.

P.S. Apart from the not full tank, the people at the airport station were bright, customer friendly, and helpful. Also: They made sure that 10 km was taken off the invoice for driving 5 km to the airport and back.

Also: The car did what it should. Transported me 290 km.

AS EXPLAINED EARLIER ON,WHEN I FIRST TRIED TO DO MY BOOKING ON JETCOST IT REDIRECTED ME TO BUDGET AIR FOR PRICE OF R4780.WHEN I WAS CONFIRMING TO PAY THE PRICE WAS NOT AVAILABLE ,I WAS CHARGED R5203.THEIR IS ADIFFERENCE OF R423 I HAD TO PAY EXTRA.THIS IS MISLEADING.I NEED THAT REFUND.

Never ever rent a car from Avis-Budget

Never ever rent a car from Avis-Budget. I rent a car from them in Danemark and after 10km the tires explod. I wait on the motor way 6 hours for the towing machine to come. I try it to call the Buget company and the number phone from the contract is not existing. When we come back to the company they give me other car. When i give back the second car, the man from the company told me i will have a fine of 2000dkk wich mean around 265€ because i smoked in the car. After few days when i arrive home i see the Buget company they took from my account 1194€ and block 1200€. I was in sock!!!! I contact my bank, i explain to them what happened, they unblock me that blocked money and make a complain to Buget company for the amount on 1194€ wich they took aready. I make also a complain to the Buget company and the answer for me was: they took 1194€ for cleaning the car and for 2 litre disel and like they make me a favoir and didn't took the money for tires( wich wasn't my foul, was them foul for not cheked the tires before give me and i make the full of the car in a petrol station next to the company), and the answer to my bank was: that i crashed the car!!!( i didn't crash any car). I was again in sock!!! I ask my bank again to make the complain and recover my money and after 2 months i receve from the Buget 334€ from 1194€. Like they give me something go shut up. I called again the bank to male other complain and thr bank told me that i can not make it because 2 months passed. They Buget company make in purposeful to delay the answer to pass that 2 months. They are disgusting company!!!! They foolishly everybody!!!!!
I will write to all the social media that they took from me 1194€  until somebody will do something to this company!!!!

Min kæreste og jeg lejede en bil fra…

Min kæreste og jeg lejede en bil fra Budget i Amman lufthavn i Jordan i Oktober. Bilen var fin, men problemet har været det depositum jeg betalte ved udlejning. I stedet for at lave et ‘hold’ på mit mastercard, så valgte de simpelthen at trække pengene (5400 kr) fra kortet. Nu er der snart gået over en måned hvor jeg har skulle ringe og skrive til Budget i Jordan. De kan ikke forklare mig hvornår jeg får pengene retur og hvor pengene befinder sig. Jeg kan på ingen måde anbefale Budget.

My girlfriend and I rented a car from Budget at Amman Airport in Jordan in late October. While the car itself was fine, the issue has been related to the return of the deposit. Instead of putting a hold of 580 JOD/720 EUR/818 USD on my card, they charged it. I have written to them several times and they can’t explain why my deposit has not been return and why this was not a hold. I’ve had to write and call several times, and still haven’t gotten a response detailing when I’m getting it returned. Would definitely not recommend using Budget, unless getting hustled is your thing.

Advarsel: Budget/Avis bedrager og stjæler

PAS PÅ! Ikke en gang internationale udlejningsfirmaer er til at stole på. I stedet for en lokal biludlejer gik vi efter et internationalt firma. Ufatteligt, at firmaer eksisterer på et et sådan grundlag.

VORES BILLEJE ENDTE MED DET DOBBELTE I BETALING END BESTILT ONLINE. JEG HAR SENDT FØLGENDE TIL BUDGET:
For our order 373552917 with rental cars we were charged 4090,77 DKK the 20th of August. The order included full insurance.

When picking up the vehicle, the BUDGET counter was closed and we were fwd'd to the AVIS desk.

At the desk we were told, that we for an acceptable amount could upgrade the vehicle in our agreement. And on top we find we agreed to much more than that. We choose to upgrade the car and signed rental agreement number 933759385.

The amount paid to rentalcars.com I do not recognise on the rental agreement with Budget.

The rental agreement with Budget includes
- Requested optional extras like protection which is already included in our agreement with rentalcars.com.
- Fuel up front options, but the vehicle was delivery with full gas. I do not see the amount reduced when vehicle was returned
- Additional fees and surcharges not part of our agreement with rental cars. And which I simply do not understand.
The Budget agreement items simply almost double up the price agreed with rentalcars.com. I might have signed up the rental agreement, but the sales process at the counter and the way the agreement is structured is quite confusing. And quite stressing with a huge queue in the back.

When returning the vehicle, a damage was discovered on the front left bumper. We paid a fee and a damage processing fee for the damage. We had full insurance with rentalcars.com and also on the double wrongly invoiced complete protection package signed with Budget.

In the end we were charged more than double that we signed up for at rentalcars.com. We paid for a damage for which we werd double insured. I hope you will clarify and return the appropriate amount. If not I will move forward to the Danish press and put articles of our experience online. In the press there is momentarily focus and articles warning about companies like this. I signed up with rentalcars.com in the hope to be signing up with a big professional company, but the experience and cooperation with Avis/Budget on site tends to be fraud and theft packaged as good service to honest customer.

I wouldn't recommend this company to…

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.
I rented a car from them for one day and after receiving the key and on my way I got a call from them with them asking me for a favor if I could deliver the car earlier then I'm supposed to the next day, because they need it for another client. That wasn't a problem, I thought it would be nice to help.
Next morning, while delivering the car, I had no service at all. Guy was just sitting at his own desk, talking through the phone and barely saw me standing there and finally just gave a small gesture to drop the keys off and to a question if that's all I had to do, he just nodded head.
Next week I got my bill- not only they appreciated me helping them with delivering the car earlier, but they also charged me with thousands of other fees, for example "fee for late delivery" and also I was charged for twice as long time period than I actually had the car.
I raised complaint to them, called them and the rest and they said they would fix it. Now it's 2 months later and I'm writing this review.

Save the struggle and go for a real car rental service!

Budget/Avis nice airport.

Budget/Avis nice airport.
When arriving we where waiting 1 hour in the queue. Now when bringing back the car, we need to wait again approxemently 1,5 hour in the queue.
They know its hollyday time, why dont the put employees at each desk.
There are 10 desks but only 3 people at the desks.

Poor information

Poor information about the contract-conditions for the car-rental and contradictive information from different employees.

We were told that we could deliver the car and pay for the amount of missing amount of fuel. But when we delivered the car, we were told, that we had to pay for an entire tankfull of fuel, even though it was almost full. So even though we specifically had been told otherwise at the pickup-counter, they said this was standard procedure, at the delivery-counter.

The car was okay, but the information was really bad and we lost a lot of money. I would be careful renting a car from this company.
