Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the product quality, citing issues such as torn covers, missing dust jackets, and extensive markings in books advertised as "good" or "new" condition. Reviewers also frequently encountered problems with their orders, including receiving incorrect editions, damaged items, or only partial shipments. A significant number of people were particularly frustrated with the refund process, reporting that their requests were ignored or denied, even with proof of damage. Additionally, many felt that the pricing was misleading, as they paid premium prices for items that were clearly not as described or were available for much less elsewhere.

Order three books from them in 8 days

Order three books from them in 8 days. All three sent to different addresses in WV. Two of the books are very hard to find. They refunded one book without explanation. Then offered to replace the two hard to find books. It’s been over 40 days since the orders. 20 since they offered to replace. No follow up.

I was scammed by ergodebooks.com.

I was scammed by ergodebooks.com.
I tried purchasing Tom Clancy’s The Division NY Collapse as they appeared to have the only copy. After a week of no correspondence, I called and an Indian told my the book was lost/damaged/out of stock, and I would receive a refund. 2 hours later, I got a fraud notice from my bank that they tried to make several thousand dollars worth of watch purchases using my card. Do not under any circumstances purchase anything from them!!

Garbage site/store

After reading the reviews and my own experience I can only advise people to avoid this site. I placed an order for a book. After two weeks of the book not arriving I contacted them regarding the delivery. Long story short they say the book has likely been lost and because it was the only copy they had left they decided to refund me. I'm glad I got a refund but still had a rubbish experience and will have to buy the book somewhere else.

They claim to have a warehouse yet their emails came via Amazon simple email service. Whatever they are doing it isn't worth wasting your time with them.

Scam company. Avoid.

Abebooks has processed a refund. One-Star review for your company wherever I can place it. I live only 10 miles from your warehouse in Magnolia, how difficult is that? Instead you ship to Bum**** Egypt. Mentally challenged?

Amateurs. Apology is not accepted. 🙂

Sent to wrong address

Ordered a used, hard to find book. They sent it to the wrong address, to a parcel locker hundreds of miles away, so no way for me to even look into it.

Unbelievable fast

Unbelievable fast. As a lot reviewers are saying it’s a shady business/scam. I will say they operate differently but I got my order so quick it’s kinda unbelievable. It’s in great condition and the item was exactly how it was described. I would buy again from this store.

Never ordering from them again

Never ordering from them again. Canceled order with no explanation. Emailed for an explanation and said book "was damaged while packing" and no replacement was available. It is a VERY common book that usually sells for a bit higher than their price. I think they figured that out and canceled the order. I didn't believe them. Now I see all of the bad reviews, I really don't believe them.

Not trustworthy

Although located in Texas they advertised the Advanced Spanish course only on Amazon France...though that in itself strange...plus they had jacked up the usual price horribly.. but I wanted the course. Ordered and paid. They used a non USPS service which could not track their own number. And it's strange too because both Ergode and I are in the states. Time and again Ergode messaged saying they would remain in touch with shipper and let me know. Today after a similar message within a few minutes got their message through Amazon France they think it was lost in transit and refunded the full amount. I'm very suspicious they never sent it out to begin with.

UPDATE I did get full reimbursement from them. But for those of you who lost money...never reimbursed...you CAN file a report with the FBIs IC3 site

Deceptive business practices

What ergodebooks really does is order books through Amazon, charge you a higher price and keep the difference for themselves without lifting a finger or keeping anything in stock. They are noting more than a pass-through to make money off of you by ordering things you could buy yourself on Amazon. Don't buy from them.

I ordered a book based on the content and got catfished instead

I ordered a book based on the description that said it was the 2nd printing of the book. What I received (very quickly, which is good) was a 4th printing of the book. The difference is that the ad description was talking about the 2nd printing because it had content that later prints did not have; 16 pages more. It was worth getting that for my collection. The book however was the 4th printing instead, and the packing list said "This is NOT the book with the extra 16 pages, most of these books do not have that added content." SO its not like they didn't know they were catfishing me.
