Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 118 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers express significant dissatisfaction with the product's quality, particularly regarding the batteries, which often fail prematurely and are very expensive to replace. Reviewers frequently report issues with the warranty process, stating that the company does not honor its advertised warranty periods for batteries and tools. The customer service is consistently described as unhelpful, rude, and difficult to communicate with, leading to frustration when trying to resolve product or warranty problems. Some people also felt that the pricing of replacement batteries is exorbitant, often costing more than new equipment, which makes the products an unsustainable investment. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that the tools themselves work well and offer good performance, with some reviewers having positive experiences with battery longevity.

This has to be the worst purchase I have ever made. £700 on a lawnmower whose battery lasts 20 minutes, less if using the self propelled function and despite advertising keep cool technology it constantly overheats and cuts out. Customer service seems to be non existent having contacted them several times no one even responds. Absolutely avoid if you don’t want to make a very expensive mistake

Products are dangerous

Products are dangerous and customer service is terrible. Purchased a lawnmower 2019 model (garage kept) used less than a few dozen times. Placed battery on charger for the first time this season, walked back in to my garage after smelling a electric burning smell. No lights on charger ($175 replacement value). Took charger apart and found multiple burn marks on board. Thank God is was home and this defective device did not destroy my home or hurt my family. Attempted to contact EGO via website, but no option to email or message. Spoke with customer service about the issue, they only cared about the warranty. Not interested in the slightest about how their product almost burned down my home. Customer service would not provide anyone else for me to speak with, refused to replace the charger and was condescending. Buyer Beware! EGO does not stand by their products and does not care about the potential dangers of their defective devices. There is no way I would invest any further in their products.

Fantastic warranty help

Two years ago I purchased an EGO leaf blower, a week ago I put the 56v battery on charge and it wouldn't charge. I called customer service and the person was very nice and helpful. He walked me through the test proses and determined that the battery was bad. He told me that a new battery will be shipped immediately.
When i purchased this i did the online registration which he had the information on his screen.
I would purchase an EGO product again. The warranty process was fantastic.
Thank you for standing behind your product.

Stock Ego Lawnmower Battery needs maintenance

The battery is great with a long running time but I was having problems with it going red up to 3 times while mowing. The fix was to pull out the battery and shove it back in. But today with close examination I discovered that the terminals on the battery were either burned or corroded causing it to heat up increasing the resistance and forcing the lawnmower to sense a weak battery. The fix was to run a slim file between the pinch terminals to clean them up and today I actually ran my lawnmower all the way to a dead battery without the problems I mentioned above. Now I am very happy I know what was causing it. Not a failure of the battery but just a bad connection between the battery and the lawnmower.

EGO IQ Trimmer and 670 Blower, YES!

I purchased the IQ string trimmer and the 670 blower the same day, read the manuals on both, followed instructions and had absolutely no problems with either device! The IQ trimmer works effortlessly, battery has lasted for approximately 80 minutes at normal power, high power never needed! The 670 blower has more than enough power, the turbo mode will move even wet grass off driveway with no problems! Run time was over an hour. These are both proven winners!!

Ego Battery Performance

I am very disappointed in the life span of my Ego 56V 7.5AH battery which needs replacing after 4 years. My mowing season is 6 months in SW Texas, so that's 45 minutes x 24 weeks a year for 4 years which makes 72 hours actual performance on my Ego mower.
Replacement cost for the battery is over $380.
Warranty was 3 years , so I am spending 65% of the cost for an Ego mower to replace this battery. Needless to say my cost for a fossil fuel mower would have been the same as the Ego mower, but my fuel cost in 4 years would have probably reached less than $50 for72 hours running time.
I would be interested in the statistics on efficiency and lifespan of rechargeable lithium batteries for power tools. Consumers must bear the burden of costs for renewable energy products. I cannot fault the resistamnce to get onboard with these green products.

Steer clear of EGO!

STOP! If you are considering buying an EGO lawn tool, read this first! It has been 4 years and 1 month since we purchased an EGO self-propelled lawn mower. We were so pleased with the initial performance that we soon purchased EGO’s leaf blower and string trimmer. We live in NW Pennsylvania where mowing season is about May - September - 5 months. We mow about 1/2 an acre every week in those 5 months. The batteries are stored in our heated garage through the cold months. That’s pretty gentle use, in my opinion, and yet the battery has just failed. Of course, battery warranty is 3 years so “ there is nothing” that customer service can do. Here’s the kicker. We paid just under $500 for the mower 4 years ago. A replacement battery costs $400. Moral to the story: EGO sells their tools only as a means to generate income via battery sales…in the same way that ink jet printers cost $100 but the ink refill costs $75. We are the type of people who pay for quality - Deere lawn tractor, Stihl small power tools, etc. We THOUGHT we were buying quality with EGO. Instead, we bought into a scam that snares customers into short-life, high-cost battery replacements. We’re doing you a favor - steer clear of EGO. With this business model, they won’t be around long anyway.

Terrible customer service.

My battery was defective and I was told they would send me a new one. I think it’s completely unacceptable that I was told I would receive a new battery only to be told about 20 minutes later after I was told that a new battery will be processed and shipped to my house that you will no longer be shipping a new battery to my house. What kind of customer service department tells their customers that they’ll do one thing and then rescind the offer that they suggested that they were gonna do? That is completely unacceptable and I’ve never heard of anything being rescinded like that. The company should standby their word that was told to me and honor it as a courtesy because it was told and stated clearly, and explicitly to me that it was going to be done. It is downright wrong to do that to your customers. You promised one thing and then rescind it later on in the call. If anything that is an error on the part of your customer service representative, and because of that error by your representative, you should stick by your word and honor the battery replacement.

Would not recommend EGO string trimmer.

I have the mower and blower, and I love them. Several years ago, I bought the string trimmer. I would not advise anyone to buy this particular EGO product. The string breaks frequently and it does not advance when bumped. The strings become tangled inside the trimmer and the string compartment is almost impossible to open to untangle the lines. I took it to the store that I purchased it from while it was under warranty and they charged me sixty-five dollars to tell me it worked perfectly and since it was not broken, I would need to pay their service fee. When I tried it again it still did not work properly. This string trimmer is very poorly designed, and I am surprised that EGO would put out such a product. Today I decided to try to use it again and I can't even get the string cover off to untangle the lines. Next trash day it goes to the dump where, unfortunately it belongs. I would NOT recommend this EGO product/

Horrible batteries!

The battery charge time they advise is highly inaccurate. My battery would need to be recharged after only 10 minutes of use from day 1 purchase. Also, they only warranty the battery for 3 years. 4 years later, the battery is now dead. It's a scam!

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! TRASH!

Bought an EGO trimmer in Sept 2023 only used it twice a month for 6 months out of the year due to season changes. For some reason the battery stopped working Oct 2024 and we've had FOUR batteries sent since and none of them have been working. Received a new battery today in the package as its brand new, charged it till it was full and put it on the trimmer and the battery goes to zero. Called customer service and they ask me to make a video for the FOURTH new battery they've sent that isn't working. No way this should be this difficult, when all we're trying to do is simply cut the grass. Trash product! Customer service seems to be nice people however they lack empathy and leadership. Why isn't anyone questioning why we are sending ANYBODY FOUR batteries. Waste of money and time!

Battery life!!!

Battery mower great to begin with, BUT with the warranty on the 5 AH battery expired as nearing 4yrs old it cannot hold charge and I get about 5mins power per charge. EGO say nothing they can do, so it seems I need to spend in excess of £200 to keep this mower working. By comparison I have a smaller cheap mower that's 7yrs old, battery stored the same and still as reliable as it was on day 1. Come on EGO you need to make this better, particularly as there's no exchange scheme to make this cost effective against the competition. Wouldn't recommend this product.

BUYERS BEWARE! Negative reviews completely accurate!

Purchased a brand new Ego Trimmer to test this manufacturer/brand. Ego has convincing commercials that make consumers believe they'd be getting a powerful, quality tool from a company that's proud of their products. This was definitely not my experience.

Admittingly, I couldn't test the string trimmer at first because one of the parts appeared to be incorrect, as it did not fit. So, instead of putting the item back in the box and driving all the way to Lowes to return it, I decided to give the manufacturer a chance to send the correct replacement part.

This is where it got even worse. After taking photos of the part in question, showing it wouldn't fit, and downloading my receipt, I couldn't find an email address for this company on their website. The only thing they provide is a phone number. I called the phone number and, as always, it routes me to overseas customer support (no issue with overseas support if they are well trained and provided adequate resources). The individual who answered said the exact same thing other negative reviews claimed, that Ego "can't help or provide an email address and the only thing I can do is take it to a repair shop.." I cut them off at this point and told them they clearly don't care about offering any semblance of customer support, and that I'll just return the item and purchase a different brand. His answer was "Ok, go ahead." Yep, that's EGO's terrible excuse for customer assistance.

Before bringing the item back to Lowes, I decided to try the unit out without the attachment. The "auto line feed" feature on the head had to be one of the worst features I've ever experienced on a trimmer. Everyone hates dealing with string trimmers, and EGO managed to invent something that made it more frustrating and time consuming. The string couldn't be fed through the eyelets on the head (would get stuck inside) and the auto feed button would work but the string wouldn't wind. I could've manually strung the head 4x by the time I gave up and packed it away. Lowes was great at returning it for me for a full refund.

I'll never buy from a company that clearly doesn't care about their consumers. I've used other brands that had no problem providing email addresses and sending replacement products or parts (Black & Decker, Ryobi)

Ego Customer service sucks beyond

I bought a ego lawnmower, May 3 from Ace Hardware in Saint Clair Shores, I had to buy mulch blades for it because it didn’t come with mulching blades, the blades didn’t come with blade set nuts, so Ace Hardware told me to call ego customer service, I was on the phone for an hour and a half and the service rep told me they would call the store and there won’t be no charge for the bolts, I went down to the store. They never even called. I called back. Ego left me on the phone for an hour and a half again and disconnected me and told me to leave a message, here’s the message don’t buy ego. Their customer service sucks and the product ain’t that good

Ego is a company that gets you in the…

Ego is a company that gets you in the door with glowing reviews and “Power Beyond Belief” then once you invest your money they are MIA.

Bought an Ego push Mower June 2024. Stopped working as of March 2025. Was stored in the garage, was not ‘abused’ used just to mow some Bermuda sod.

Contacted Ego in March 2025 to hold their word on their “Power Beyond Belief” product. After speaking with customer service and giving them all of the information they asked of us we were told to take our mower to a local shop to get a diagnosis and fix the problem. Our mower simply just stopped running.
5 weeks go by and still no word. Have been in communication with the local shop and they basically have said “waiting on parts”.

Obviously, grass doesn’t stop growing because your mower is “waiting on parts”.
I called customer service asking for an alternative to fix the predicament their inadequate product put us in. What I got in return was “you need to wait 6 weeks until we ‘escalate’ your case”. And then the customer representative said “return it to Lowe’s” I asked what would happen and she said “I don’t know”. Supervisor called me a few days later and unfortunately she wanted to discuss with me her situation with this “magnificent “ company.

Unfortunately my phone died mid conversation and I am currently on hold (30 minutes now) waiting for someone to take my call just so I can give my invoice number from the local shop for my case.

I just want an RA code to return my equipment to the store.

If you’re looking to invest in equipment that lasts a short time, have awful customer service, and need to buy another piece of equipment from another company and/ or end up spending even more to hire someone to mow your lawn then Ego is the company for you!! The claimed “#1 rated battery platform” is rated #-1000000 in customer service. Unfortunately after research, I have seen a few others complaining of the same exact problem.

Trying to find a part for an EGO lawn…

Trying to find a part for an EGO lawn mower is almost impossible in Canada unless you go to a US parts supplier and pay the high shipping and import fees.
I was able to obtain a part for my 25 year old LawnBoy mower in ten minutes.
Why doesn't EGO have an accessible parts warehouse in Canada?
My next cordless garden equipment will be Stihl.

ego products are a joke and an insult

purchased an ego weed trimmer, battery doesn't last more than 20 minutes and trimmer line needs to be replaced every 10 minutes, not able to trim even a small front yard with this product and the cost of a larger battery is $400!!!!!!!! It is an insult to have this be a required alternative to gas powered tools and not have them work properly. It's like a childs toy instead of an actual yard tool!!!

I recently purchased the LM2156SP G3 walk behind mower. After approximately 14 cuttings I am very satisfied. As a long time Honda mower customer I made the decision to go electric and found the Ego is a superior product. Mulch clippings are very fine....battery life is as advertised and the lawn looks amazing....many, many compliments. Bottom line could not be more pleased! Doug B.
