I invested 2021 in all EGO

I invested 2021 in all EGO, mower, trimmer, hedge cutter, chainsaw and leaf blower. I purchased two extra batteries. Unfortunately I never got to use the chainsaw for couple yr, but that packed up after a couple of uses. 1 of the batteries has worked only once, the trimmer vibrates so badly it couldn't be used! I’ve been left with a working mower and blower but for past 2 yr unfortunately the charger doesn’t work despite going through all the troubleshooting! I’ve been too ill to do anything about it! My garden is overgrown and I don’t have the money to buy again! So all in all I’d stay away from EGO. There’s much more cheaper and reliable options

Bought a brand new chainsaw from our local garden machinery store. However so was looking to upgrade the bar and chain on the chainsaw so contact the Ego tech email address on their website and have had no reply whatsoever. I then contacted the Facebook page and was told to email the EU arm of the business which I have done and again no reply. The after sales service is nonexistent. You can see all the negative reviews on here and alarm bells should rind when you don’t have any reply from the company to say they will assist and look into it. Clearly they are disinterested in negative reviews or existing customers. My advice would be look at other battery focused garden machinery providers as Ego do not regard you as important once you have bought their product.

Excellent UK customer services

We had a problem with our over 2 year old strimmer and contacted the UK customer services by email. They resolved the issue within 48 hours under the 5-year warranty. Excellent customer service. We bought the strimmer at the same time as a hedge cutter and have found both to be excellent.

Terrible response and responsibility I bought a replacement battery just over a year ago, the company has since gone out of business, when I contacted EGO I explained my situation and explained I couldn't find the receipt and they just stopped contacting me. Never buy anything from them

Great tools but batteries prone to failure

I have a number of Ego power tools I use in my garden.
Lawnmower, hedge trimmers and so on.

And about 7 batteries of varying sizes.

The tools are great but the batteries are prone to expensive failure. One has just failed around 2 years and 11 months after purchase and not that much use.

I discovered by searching the Internet that Ego power batteries fail frequently.

In comparison I've batteries from Bosch which are 10 years old and going strong. In fact I own batteries from 6 or so different brands and never had a single failure except with Ego power.

Mower reduced run time & long recharge time

My mower, egolm2135espkit, worked well first couple of times: 1 hr run time 1hr recharge. But now after 4 or 5 cuts run time has dropped to 40 minutes after full charge, and battery takes well over 2 hours to recharge. Considering the price over £800 I really regret buying it.

Good enough for professional use.

Good enough for professional use.

I have the multi tool, chainsaw, hedge trimmer and blower. The tools are used daily, i'm impressed with the build quality and battery life. I would not go back to using petrol tools.

One battery suddenly stopped charging after a year. The local authorised dealer replaced it straight away.

Worst warranty experience

The battery for my self propelled lawnmower died after 2 years. Great I though I had filled in the warranty registration with the added 1 year cover so no problem. How wrong I was, the support from the company is poor to nonexistent. They asked for proof of purchase which I couldn't find, but happily the company I bought through (justlawnmowers - who are excellent) provided this straight away. When I provided this to Ego they stopped communicating with me. The product is good and works well, but just be prepared to buy a new battery every couple of years, hardly eco friendly in my eyes. Don't think that the warranty will cover you as it doesn't.

Warranty support is non-existent

I bought a self propelled rechargeable battery mower from Ego a couple of years ago, which worked fine for the first summer but in the second year things started going downhill. The mower would regularly cut out after only a short amount of time and when it didn't the battery would suddenly empty.

I've been attempting to get it repaired under warranty for 3 months now with little success. Ego told me to take it to somebody on their list of approved suppliers. After about a month they told me they couldn't fix the problem and needed to contact Ego to get it resolved. Since then they've been unable to get anybody at Ego to collect it from them to be repaired properly.

That company have now told me that waiting for Ego will take forever and I'll have to pay delivery fees to get my equipment back. They've recommended I take it to another third party who are specialists and might be able to help, but I'd have to pay them to carry out the repair.

Long story short, Ego won't talk to me, they won't talk to their own recommended repairer and basically have no interest in honouring their warranty. The product itself is great, just be aware that it might only last you two summers before you have to buy a new one.

Amazing quality

Normally I would not buy a rechargeable lawn mower. In the end I did not, but I inherited one from my brother. I have found it so much better than any lawn mower I have owned (and I have owned quite a few). It is easy to push, mows the lawn well and recharges quickly. I also inherited a blower and on boost it gives a hurricane! The strimer was another tool I inherited and again it does the job well. A mow, strim and blow front and back gardens was well within the batteriers capabilities. The tools are a little heavy, but that in a way is good as it makes them more robust. As a future idea they should develop an electric bike to go with their battery packs.

Excellent Brushcutter

I bought this a couple of months ago and am so glad I did! It is so easy to use; it's light and, with 2 x battery packs I can easily tackle our half acre for up to an hour and a half at a time without feeling fatigued ... and that's from an unfit, 50 year old woman. For years strimming was a chore as I battled to start petrol strimmers, or had to wait until my partner was home to start it for me, then I felt tired after just a few minutes, now I just pull the trigger and go! Strimming has become almost meditative.
I ordered from an Irish company to avoid import tax from the UK but then had an 8 week wait as the item had to come from the UK to the Irish store ... thanks Brexit!!
It has lost one star as on the second day of use the guard lost a screw and the blade took a chunk out of it. I then had to tighten the remaining guard screws which were loose.
Despite this I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this item.

6 month wait for warranty replacement

I bought a top of the range 52cm self-propelled mower just under two years ago. Loved the performance apart from the speed control that's either too slow or very fast.

At the start of this years grass cutting season, the mover started to cut out after around an hours continuous use. The battery was indicating OK and a battery change confirmed it was the mower at fault.
My local agent checked it over and determined that it couldn't be repaired. I would be given a new machine under the 5-year warranty.

That was a month ago.

No feedback on when the replacement is due so I called the UK importer. I was told the next shipment would be in the UK around October!! That's a six-month wait - If I was buying a new machine I wondered if that would be facing the same delay?

So I'll be without a mower for nearly the whole cutting season and may well have to buy another or let my 1/3 acre lawn turn into a jungle.

Not good enough for an £850 mower - not impressed.

Battery longevity is also in question as every cut has seen a reduction in the area covered between charges. I reckon it's lost about 30% of it's reserves in less than 2 years.
