Zero stars for this company. I had a tyre blow out tonight on M40. Recovery was outsourced to this awful company. First text said they would be less than an hour. Then a further text to say they would be 3 hours. This was a priority call out as I was alone, night time on a very busy motorway. After discussions with Green Flag, our provider, it was suggested they look at replacing the tyre if that was going to be faster. I agreed. It was suggested by a tyre company that I very slowly drive on the hard shoulder until off the motorway and pull in near a roundabout and near a services. I did this. Pulled close to the grass and called the tyre company to let them know. Without any notification from Everton, I see a recovery truck behind me with lights flashing. Whilst still on the phone with the tyre company I try to talk to the recovery driver who is shouting away at me. Shouting why did I move, why was I in a “live lane” and so much more. It was horrendous. Female, alone, dead of night, had been standing in the cold for almost 3 hours at this point, and all I get is loud and gesturing abuse. I tried to ask him what he wanted me to do. Through the shouting it was clear he was going to be of no use at all and just wanted me to drive to the services car park and that was it. The abuse continued for several minutes. By the time he left I was shaking and in tears.
One of the positives of this night was the fact I did not have to endure this vile man in a recovery truck to my home an hour away.
If you're planning on taking out Green Flag breakdown cover through your insurance make sure they don't use this company as you'll be banging your head against a brick wall trying to get the help you need.
My windscreen wipers seized up travelling through the roadworks on the M56 and phoned for recovery through Green Flag at 2.30pm. Was told someone would be with me by 4.50pm but they said they couldn't find me despite me giving precise location. Was collected at 5.30pm thinking I was being taken home (Anglesey) but was told I was being taken to a safe place at Lymm services and somebody else would come to attempt a repair before 7.10pm.
When they failed to show I was told on the phone they were 5mins away then immediately got a text msg to say it would be 10.30pm and when I phoned to find out why was told as I'm in a safe place I wasn't a priority.
Someone came at 10.20pm but they couldn't do the repair so at 11.30pm I was told I needed to arrange overnight accommodation as there was nobody available to get me home but they'd be with me between 7am-9am.
That time came and went and was then told they couldn't get to me until later in the afternoon at which point I demanded another company be found to take me and the car home.
I eventually got home at 1.30pm. 23hrs after my initial breakdown.
Please do not use this company if there’s a way for you to avoid them.
I broke down and was initially told that they would be with me within the hour (bearing in mind I was a lone female who had broken down in an extremely precarious place on the slip road of a very busy dual carriageway at rush hour). The hour passed by and then they messaged to say it would be a further 1.5 hours. By this time the temperature had dropped to 4 degrees and I had been stranded for 2.5 hours. When it reached the time that they said they would arrive, I received a further message to say they would be another hour. I rang and they promised to get someone to me asap. No one came. I rang them back and they said they would ring back in 5 minutes, but it took 30 minutes for them to call. In the end it was 5 hours before they reached me…5 hours spent alone by the side of the road at night in 4 degree temperatures.
I just wish they would have been honest and realistic in their communications, rather than fobbing me off every hour. At least that way I could have thought about the safest plan/next steps.
I worry that this company will do the same to others. Please avoid them if you can, in my experience they weren’t honest, safe, trustworthy or reliable.
Zero stars from me , I was with Green Flag my car broke down in Sk11 area , unfortunately for me the recovery company used was Egertons , called Green Flag around 2.30 on 23/11/22 , great first Egerton van arrived within the hour around 3.20 tried to jump start my car no joy ..this guy seemed OK explained that I needed tow vehicle, arranged for car to be dropped at garage in Stoke, recieved text saying arrival would be 16.55 great I think , My car arrived at Stoke 16.45 the following day over 25 hours later , I had been ringing them all day being fobbed off , I actually began to believe they had lost it or smashed it , I was crying very very upset , they even charged me extra £39.50 for trip , I am receiving some compensation from Green Flag , if you looking for breakdown cover use a company that is not associated with Egertons dreadful service. Must give a shout out to Jane on the phone she was kind ..
Booked and paid for the recovery. Recovery day came and went along with several further days, no recovery as too busy ( even though all booked in advance). Cancelled the recovery and requested a refund, 2 weeks and several phone calls later still no refund. Terrible customer service not sure how they can boast on the call waiting service about meeting customer needs.
Wow. I’d had a previous good experience with Egertons when booked through a third party so thought I would try them direct. I needed a car recovering in Manchester. After a huge wait to actually speak to someone I was put through to a uninterested gentleman who ‘went to ask his boss’ for a couple of minutes and said they were too busy. Massively unhelpful.
They picked up my car and were meant to keep overnight in their compound and bring home to me next day.
They did move it from up north to Oxford branch and then continued to lie that it was due to be delivered every single day for 11 days. They never contacted me at all apart from one evening where someone called Jamie called apologised and assured me someone would call early next morning to tell me honestly when my car would be returned but they never did I had to call them every day to chase them up once or twice a day We are 2.5 hrs from the Oxford branch and was told it was too far for their drivers to bring it. So lucky I didn’t brake down in Scotland 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Eventually green flag who are our breakdown company hired another recovery company to bring the car home
Appalling customer care and service the staff on phone don’t care lie and are often dismissive and border line rude
please avoid if you can
Brilliant service from Danny. Picked us up from dual carriageway with no hard shoulder after a blow out. Safety was all important to him. Methodical, polite and prompt. Thank you.
BEWARE!!! of this company, they are absolute cowboys. My vehicle was in compound for 2 days before they took it to a garage, When I collected it there was significant damage to the front of my van ,and they said it had nothing To do with them. But when they collected my van they took photos And there was no damage at all, When they dropped it off at the garage They said that they could not produce photos when they dropped it off because there was a glitch in the System. I have had a quote And it is going to cost me £500 for the repair. Save yourself the heartache and the money and go elsewhere, there an absolute disgrace to the recovery Business.
Awful, lazy and careless. Lack of communication and lame excuses used to delay the recovery
Left stranded with no call backs. Just didn’t care
