Not as good as they used to be.
I have used Ebico in the past for many years when they were good. And when I wanted to switch electricity suppliers recently, I saw that Ebico were operating again.
However, my experience with Ebico now is nothing like what it was before. They partner with Rebel Energy for supplying electricity, and Rebel seem to be rather unprofessional. Neither Ebico nor Rebel reply to support requests in a timely manner.
The Rebel website is very hard to use. To log in, I enter my email address, then get an email with a link. I click the link, and it says my email is verified. Then I have to go back to the main website again, and again it says I have to enter my email to have it verified before I can use the site. Occasionally it works okay though.
For sending meter readings, Ebico sent an email with a link to a web page that did not work properly. I had to email my readings to them.
I asked to be on a Standard tariff, but they put me on Economy 7 instead, even though I have no appliances that work on Economy 7.
Definitely avoid Ebico until they partner with someone other than Rebel, as Rebel Energy here really are useless, but Ebico is still very slow at responding to emails and sorting things out.
Switched to Ebico Living on 28th Jan…
Switched to Ebico Living on 28th Jan this year as the standing charge was much less and I'm a very low user. I had previously been with Ebico in 2017-2019. Seems like things have gone downhill. I signed up and given dates and direct debit amounts online and in the welcome pack. I was told first payment would be 1st Feb (to give tge account a credit balance) and second payment on 1st March. To date I have heard nothing further from Ebico (or Rebel). No DD payments have been taken. I started to get worried! Its only when I reached out and called Ebico that anything started to happen. It was clear that the DD had not been set up and that the DD amount had actually changed 3 times (upwards) since signing up. I switched to Ebico for price and transparency but I'm really not sure now. Customer services seem to do their best but clearly dont appear to know what is going on with individual accounts. To date no DD payments have been taken from my bank- I finally received a bill today. I have selected to pay an amount to cover this by debit card- and not wait for a DD payment for fear of ending up in too much debt. So things did not go as planned with Ebico- or whether the problem is their energy partners Rebel? Either way it wasnt a good start- very vague, poor follow up and not confidence boosting. Still no DD, changing amounts and total lack of coherent information. Poor.
dumped me and other customers to…
dumped me and other customers to british gas had nothing but trouble, never use you again ever! k.williams
Tried switching my prepayment to you…
Tried switching my prepayment to you and haven’t received any email back, I contacted my energy company and they said you have cancelled my switch?
Bust should mean bust.
When ebico went bust I had to switch to British Gas.although assured by ebico that the smets2 meter would work with any supplier it did not work with British Gas!!what a hassle as their customer service is in South Africa.i overpaid 300 pounds due to estimated bills and eventually had a second smets2 installed.to see these cowboys are back in business is appalling
Ebico back in business
Well, what a nasty surprise I've just had. Ebico, who ditched their customers and palmed us onto British Gas have now set up shop again. These criminals have now sent me an e-mail stating they have set up under the Ebico Living name and are now doing business with Octopus Energy.
How is this allowed? These Directors should be in front of a Judge for their criminal behaviour. Instead they are back in business offering a £25 bribe to open an account with them. It beggars belief! It appears that Ebico is just the middle man, taking their profits, data mining and all round bad business model, go bust and join with Octopus just to rinse and repeat.
Do NOT entertain these people. You only have to read the comments below to see what they are about.
Ebico Comes Back - I Hope!
Rumour has it that the ethical Ebico are about to rise again like the proverbial Phoenix having unshackled themselves from Robin Hood. I hope so as they were a very customer friendly supplier with good prices. Unlike many of the other rip off merchants they had a freephone.
It might be worth keeping up to date via their website where you can sign up.
I’ve just received Subject Access…
I’ve just received Subject Access information from the Information Commissioner. Ebico have lied to them. The directors of this company need to go before a Judge.
BEWARE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
BEWARE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We left them in Feb 2020 and paid up the SO CALLED Final Bill. On the 7th January 2021 I received another FINAL BILL for an outstanding amount that I new nothing about. I have tried endless times to contact them by telephone and its just cuts off. I have received two phone calls from them chasing the money. There customer service operators have no idea on how to help or be polite. ( I work in this occupation myself and would have the sack if I was like them ). I have looked on my old online account this morning and I can see that this FINAL BILL has now been increased again !!!!. I'm waiting for the paper copy to fall on the mat and then will try to contact them again.
I HAVE MANAGED TO SPEAK TO THE ADMINISTRATORS AND THEY HAVE ADVISED IF MONEY IS OUTSTANDING THEN THEY WILL EVENTUALLY CHASE ME FOR THE PAYMENT. This is a no win situation.
Thieves!
I am in the same boat than the last reviews. Accepted the move to British Gas and the adivce from Ebico that i could just relax and do nothing. They never asked me for meter readings. Now Birtish Gas wants to charge me £112.63 from previous supplier based on estimate and not wanting to know about real meter readings. Account should be £20 in credit. Is there anywhere to put a collective complaint over the company?
If there is a still a Monopolies…
If there is a still a Monopolies Commission, they should look here, before takeover Ebico were excellent. The Company that took them over hiked up the costs. I'm glad I got out. My new (small) Company is very good, how long before they are taken over by a giant!
THIEVES!!!
Thieves! Can’t believe they are allowed to operate as a legitimate company. Sent me a final Bill which I paid, only to send an additional charge of £130. Having joined a new company, it is clear to me that ebico often fabricate meter readings to exploit customers.
Criminals
Echoing all other recent comments. Issued final bill which we paid. Then a new final bill was issued a month later for over £700. Total crooks trying to milk some extra profit before they close down. Extremely patronising people on their phones too. We all need to report them to Ofgem.
Ebico gone bust owing me £547.45! BEWARE!!
Ebico gone bust!I am £547.45 in credit at the time this useless company went into administration. They have confirmed the amount of my money that is in credit They WILL NOT refund my money they rude and poorly trained complaints officer, T H, I have had to deal with has advised me that my credit will be sent to British Gas...British Gas have confirmed A. They have NOT been sent my credit B. My credit MUST be sent to me and it will not be sent to British Gas. I have asked for Ebico to return my money, my emails are now ignored and phone calls are not being returned. I have now contacted Trading Standards as I want my money back. Awful company with poorly trained staff.
Failure to recompence estimate overcharge
Ebico are a shambles of a company, they requested a final reading which I provided and then decided to ignore that and apply an estimate which resulted in an overcharge.
Now I am having to send e-mail after e-mail (no chance of getting an answer on the phone!) to get a refund.
The incompetence of Ebico customer service is shocking and the inability to understand simple requests doesn't reflect well on the company.
This is what happens when the Council gets involved...couldn't run a bath.
Absolutely disgusting company
Absolutely disgusting company, my uncle had passed away, as he done everything on line I had no paperwork, until this company sent a reminder that the money hasn’t been paid, so I phoned ebico up the first time they cut me off, the second time I got through the women was very rude she offered no condolences, all the other companies had, she wouldn’t let me talk, then when I did try to explain that my uncle had died, she very rudely asked why it took me so long to phone and let them know, I tried to tell her that my uncle had no paperwork it was all on his computer, and I didn’t have his password to get into computer, she put the phone down on me, I am disgusted, what kind of people they have working for this company, but I will never use them, and I will be letting lots of other people not to use them, that women should be sacked, I’ve just lost my uncle, I will be taking it further!!!
Called to inform them of the death of a…
Called to inform them of the death of a relative! Unfortunately we had no paper work so had to wait until a demand came through the post some weeks after the death! Was not offered any condolences but was rudely asked why we had taken so long to call! I did not wish to answer the question & was spoke to in an appalling manner & they put the phone down! Absolutely disgusted!
Avoid them
Absolute regret having to deal with these people, took possession of a property only to find an estimated bill for the property even thou not yet moved in. No one is available to talk to over the phone and the only contact is via emails. Tried to give them a physical reading but not able to ,as I now have to deal with BG to resolve it . Had email contact final only to be given the back hand by someone called Leanne .
No manager to speak to ,they all seem to hide behind their emails ,Ebico going out with a bang so there plans is to overcharge customers to compensate for their ill manage company.if I could give a score less than 1 star it would be minus 10.
Spoke with British Gas and felt more at ease and I’m able to speak to someone whom was very helpful.
Ebico= Shocking company
Shocking company, overcharged me circa £2000. Agreed in writing to issue a refund at the beginning of October no refund received and Ebico are now backtracking on the refund.
Beware of this company and there faulty meters.
Small claim issued in the hope they will pay whats due
UNBELIEVABLY POOR SERVICE!
UNBELIEVABLY POOR SERVICE!
I signed up over a month ago, got them to confirm in emails several times that all was well and that I was at last leaving British Gas.
For a month I have believed i was a customer of Ebico, they confirmed as much.
Now I find they lied to me, they have connected the WRONG address, and since they are going out of business they have refused to correct their error.
